Dr. Friedman was actually great in terms of performing my surgery, but every other interaction with this office is excruciating. From scheduling an appointment to billing, the office seems to be incapable of communicating which each other and the patient. Their online portal is terrible. They took a surgery deposit from me before my surgery which they said would be applied toward my final bill. I received my final bill from the hospital & that deposit was not applied. Now working through the Illinois Health Care Bureau to get my deposit returned to me. Stay away, they'll take your money and never respond to any of your messages. read more

Apparently, Dr. Venkatesan conducted a small test, where he put a tube up my nose to look around and it cost me hundreds. If he had informed me that this would have cost money and result in absolutely nothing helpful, I would have never agreed to it. Seems pretty unethical. I wish I had checked Yelp before visiting because it seems like others have had the same issue. Waste of time and money. Do not recommend. read more

I made an appointment with Dr. Levy at the Swedish Memorial location. I was apparently the last patient of the day, and it was quite obvious. He spoke over me, not letting me finish sentences. His mood was irritable and put-upon. He rushed me out, like he clearly wanted to leave for the day, but not after shoving a tube up my nose so he could charge an extra 500 bucks to my insurance. He told me I would need to deal with getting medical records to treat the sleep apnea I know I have from a sleep study his office couldnt be bothered to fax the other doctor for, and that Id need to go to another doctor at another location, and it wouldn't be for a month. I go to the receptionist, and they have a hard time scheduling my appointment because apparently it has to be TWO appointments to get a consult for a mouth device AND check my hearing. This takes 5-10 minutes. She's confused. She tells me "Dr. Levy isn't available that day." I tell her it's not with him. He comes up and corrects her that it is not with him, and tells her the correct name. I get my appt scheduled and leave. So I spend a month knowing what's wrong with me. I have to reschedule, which I call the office to do. They tell me they moved the appt date and everything is fine. Today, I have a very busy day at work, but I'm not going to miss this appointment. My life could change. If I get my apnea treated, a number of health conditions (including mental health conditions which this process exacerbates) will likely improve. I walk into the room, Dr. Levy comes in, and he realizes it's the wrong appointment. Does he apologize? No, because he's a Capital "D" Doctor - god's gift to condescension - and talks to me like a parent admonishing a child, like it was my mistake and I wasted HIS time. The nurse does too. It is not until I get visibly upset that they take me seriously. What did this look like, you ask? Dr. Levy walked out of the room and left the nurse to handle it. No apology. No empathy. Oh, but they were still so adamant I get the hearing test (an optional thing I wanted to do, but was not the primary reason I was there). When its clear I'm leaving, do they at least offer to refund me the copay? Nope. The nurse tries to convince me to stay, so they can reschedule. As if I trust Dr. Levy, Chicago ENT, or, honestly, even the hospitals associated with them anymore. This is a disgusting way to treat people who are suffering. I was rushed in and out my first appointment and then blamed for a mistake that happened due to the rush (even though it was supposedly fixed day-of!). I received no kindness whatsoever from Dr. Levy. Both times he seemed irritated to have to deal with me. Oh, might I mention I am queer and quite visibly so? Maybe Dr. Levy just treats everyone rudely, and like they're the imposition on him (while they fork over extra money due to "scheduling" issues). But I see a LOT of positive reviews here that paint him to be an entirely different person. I also see a smaller amount of negative reviews that paint him EXACTLY like the dismissive man who should never be caring for people that I met. Makes me wonder what the difference is between who he treats well and who he doesn't. read more

My whole consultation lasted only about 20 minutes. From the front desk, scheduling department, aides and assistants have absolutely no internal communication. You will be bounced around the offices on hold and passed off. This is a cash register disguised as a clinic. Totally revenue-focused. Can only speak to my own experience, but I was knocked sideways by the flagrant overbilling. Was referred here for a preventive sleep disorder treatment regimen. First and only in-office appointment was billed to insurance for $300 just for a new patient visit, plus $425 for a 10-minute nasal endoscopy during which Dr. Friedman distracts you with grandfatherly patter completely absent of medical information. The sleep disorder testing comprises clunky diagnostic gear, which makes you look like a 1980s cyborg, that you take home and administer yourself. (Can only assume the data recorded is worthless since it's virtually impossible to sleep while wearing.) No details on what specifically it would be measuring were provided, and the staff gives you links to web videos instructing how to use it. They insist you return it by 10 a.m. the next day (presumably you're billed even more if you miss that tight deadline); while doing so, other patients are there checking out the same antiquated gear. Sure looked like a revolving-door system geared toward profitability. Insurance took one look at the amount this clinic bills and, not surprisingly, didn't cover much of it, sticking me with a huge bill for only a partial, incomplete treatment minus any results, since I immediately cut ties and fled before they could fleece me more. That, of course, didn't prevent the bills by mail, by email, by website patient portal (which also allows for messages to the clinic that go unanswered), and the option of a monthly auto payment system managed by JP Morgan. The greed is bad enough. Worse is the shrug you get when you bail. You'd expect at least some halfhearted effort to ask why and figure out how treatment can be accommodated, since one presumes the clinic wants patients to return in the future for their ENT needs. I scheduled with them since the ENTs at my usual medical system had month-long waits and it was easy to get an appointment here. Perhaps that should have been the first warning sign, but I wanted an appointment because I had extreme ear pressure and had a plane trip planned. My first appointment- incredibly rushed and I barely got any discussion with Dr. Friedman. I was reporting difficulty swallowing and extreme ear pressure, and they stuck an endoscope up my sinuses, said they saw nothing, said maybe it's heartburn, and sent me on my way. I barely got to speak a word to ask a question before the doctor was out of the room. I followed up a month later- my symptoms were still just as bad, if not worse. They suggested a sinus CT scan, and, Ph testing for stomach acid. They said someone would call me to schedule. They did not. I followed up for both, and was eventually able to get a CT scan but still to this day have not received a follow up for the stomach acid testing. I got the CT scan, and then got no results or follow up for almost two weeks. I then had my follow up appointment, which was supposed to be a televisit after work. However, I got a phone call in the middle of the afternoon asking if I could speak then. Sure, great. However- it was less than a 4 minute phone call. The doctor was clearly in a very loud space, I could barely hear, and I had a bunch of questions that I couldn't ask. The worst part: they billed my insurance for a 20-29 minute televisit. They also tried to claim that perhaps the televisit link wasn't working, but we never even attempted that. I fought my portion of the bill with the office itself, but it's incredibly dishonest for them to be billing insurance that way. They didn't see anything on the CT scan, but suggested a three part follow up series of sinus treatments. I pursued their suggested follow up sinus treatments in office, which I knew nothing about before the first appt because I couldn't ask any follow up questions. The treatments have unfortunately made no impact. If only the office had followed up with me in regard to the stomach acid angle, then perhaps I'd be in a better situation. I will be pursuing treatment with another GI or ENT physician and I hope I never find myself back at this office. I first went there in August, and four months later I've spent hundreds of dollars, spoken with a doctor for about 2 minutes, and gotten zero help. I've lived in several states, and used to utilize a campus student health center as a primary care facility, and I can say this office is the worst I have ever dealt with. Unhelpful doctors, and inaccurate (bordering on downright fraudulent) billing. The only bright spot is the physicians assistant I interacted with for my treatments who was really the only one to ever let me ask questions or who offered to explain anything. read more

I was taken back to a room where a medical assistant did my intake and then I was told to wait there while they got a room (another one?) ready for me. I had been waiting about 20 minutes and still had not seen anyone so I went out to talk to someone as I had another appointment to get to. They moved me to another room and said they would tell Dr. Friedman I was in a hurry (not really in a hurry, just trying to be seen at my scheduled appointment time). I waited in that room for an additional 10 minutes and finally had to get up and leave. Overall, it was not a great experience and I would not return any time soon. Dr. Friedman is fabulous! I was diagnosed with Sleep apnea about two months ago and was on the search for answers. I met Dr. Friedman and he did a scan of my nose and sinus area. I took the at home sleep apnea test with the mask and he concluded I did indeed have sleep apnea. I came into the office and Dr. Friedman presented me with a few options to cure the issue. I asked him what is the most permanent and what would give me the results that I was looking for. He made sure I understood all my options and the treatment plans that went with them. In the end we decided on a sleep apnea rhinoplasty. I got my procedure a week and a half ago and I can already see such great results. I'm breathing better-NOT snoring- and I am only half way through my recovery time. AMAZING! I will go back one more time for a second check up to make sure everything looks good. I am so thankful for finding Dr. Friedman. Nobody likes to get any surgery or procedures done, but to have a Doctor that cares and has your best interest is so amazing. If anyone has sleeping issues or feels like they could be living a better quality breathing life-Look NO FURTHER than Chicago ENT and Dr. Friedman. He is so friendly and kind and makes you feel at ease instantly. I literally didn't understand sleep apnea or why I was seeing these issues for my whole life. He's become a terrible doctor who has been in practice way too long. He has a huge surplus of ego and just as huge a deficit of empathy. Somewhere along the line during his career he forgot, or maybe never learned, the importance of showing such empathy toward patients. He rushes appointments as a matter of routine, doesn't listen well to patients as a matter of routine, and as a result, he risks misdiagnosing patients precisely because he doesn't listen well and rushes appointments. If you want a doctor to treat you like you a unique human being, please look elsewhere. read more

I feel a bit swindled by this practice. I went for an appointment with Dr Patel because I had allergy symptoms. The allergy tests came back negative but she recommended I follow up with an ENT in their practice so I did. Next I saw Dr. Friedman. At first glance he had a very friendly demeanor but I felt they took advantage of my lack of healthcare knowledge to rush me towards tests and procedures without properly explaining why I needed them and didn't bother to warn me of any additional costs. I trusted Dr Friedman at first so I agreed to a scan that I later received a surprise $600 bill for. This is a shameful common problem in healthcare where patients get hit with costs they didn't even know they were signing up for. Three weeks later an assistant from the office calls me to try to sell me on having a sinuplasty procedure. She said it with such authority that it was recommended I do this. She told me the procedure is to enlarge my sinus and help me breathe. So I asked why would I need this surgery? Given, my results showed I don't have a problem with my sinuses and I didn't have trouble breathing. Needless to say, she didn't have a good answer either. Long story short, I don't recommend this practice because I don't condone the way they treat patients. they don't take the time to walk you through why you need a procedure, they slap you with high fees, then try to sell you more unnecessary surgery. read more

I saw Dr. Vankatesan for an ear infection that was not clearing after two weeks and two different antibiotics from my primary. They referred me here. The doctor was in the room with me for less than 2 minutes. He walked in, shoved a tube up my nose without explaining anything, then looked in one of my ears and said it looked fine. It wasn't fine, I was in a ton of pain. He told me I needed a hearing test and a CT scan and we would go over the results in a month. I needed care at that moment, not in a month. I called a week later because my ears were so painful, and he told me to go back to my primary care doc for pain meds because I was experiencing "nerve pain". So dismissive, poor care all around. I cancelled my follow up. (Side note, him shoving that tube up my nose without me knowing what was happening was billed to my insurance as "Surgery".) read more

However the front reception and phone personnel have no human touch, concern or empathy for patients. You are treated as nothing more than your birthdate. Went without appliance two weeks ago. I would give a 0 if that was an option for my visit to see Dr. Venkatesan. I had forgotten about my visit from more than 3 months ago until I got a bill today for an endoscopy that I didn't schedule for my visit. I went to the ENT to check on my clogged ears that wouldn't get unclogged with decongestants or antibiotics. His first recommendation was to do an endoscopy... didn't ask many questions, just resorted to this procedure, which I had no idea I was going to be charged $336. I should have asked if this was out of scope of my visit co-pay, but then again, I think the doctor and the doctor's office also have a responsibility to tell the patient that whatever extra procedure that was not scheduled with the visit is going to cost more than the co-pay... and then ask the patient... "would you like to proceed?" So, I just got my bill for $336, which I had to think for a minute "what was this even for?" Once the results of the endoscopy showed up normal, the Doctor said "there's nothing wrong with you, take some nasal spray." There was no discussion for what else I might be able to do to solve my problem, no other questions. Just "next patient!" Even without getting this bill that I wasn't expecting, I left the place feeling beyond disappointed and like it was a huge waste of my time (now it turns out it was a huge waste of my money too). Please avoid this place at all cost. I went to another ENT doc last year in Hoffman Estates (far away from downtown Chicago where I live) and he actually fixed my problem and all I paid was my $40 doctor visit co-pay. I will go back to him again for future problems, despite the long drive. read more

If I could give Dr. Michael Friedman zero stars I would. He is the worst doctor I have ever had in my life. He is money hungry. All he wants to do is put the scope down you even when you didn't come to his office for that procedure. Dr. Friedman doesn't look at your health records before he comes in and see you whether you are a new patient or he has seen you for a little while. He has no clue what is going on with his patients. On my last and final visit, I asked them to send me the records and notes that Dr. Friedman took on my visits. A few weeks and many phone calls later I received them in the mail. Dr. Friedman wrote in there that I came to see him with post nasal drip. That was inaccurate. (So he doesn't put correct information in your medical records.) I came in to see him for subglottic stenosis, which he didn't know what it was. Plus he wasn't willing to look it up or find out what it is. I had to tell him. Then he didn't believe me. He told me to see a GI doctor. I asked him if I needed to come back and see him. He got really mad and said in a mean voice: "NO I CAN'T HELP YOU!" Then he proceeded to open the door and slammed it against the wall. I would never ever recommend Dr. Michael Friedman or any doctor at Chicago ENT. read more

Do NOT see "Doctor" Adam Levy. He has no care for his patients. He brushed me off and left me with advice that may put my ears in danger. He looked in my ear so fast I thought he was joking, gave me a "looks fine, you're good to fly" and interrupted every question I had to try to get home out the door. I went to the ER for my ear pain and multiple different doctors noticed things in my ear they told me to see an ENT to get removed and treated. They all said my ears were in terrible shape and needed treatment immediately, no wonder I got Dr Levy on such short notice. Immediately seeing Dr Levy he told me my ears were perfectly normal despite what many doctors had told me and despite my pain, lack of the ability to "pop" my ears and Eustachian Tube Dysfunction. He refused to look in my ears again. Do NOT use this doctor! read more

Went to an appointment (pre Covid) for sinus issues. Waited 30min + in the actual exam room while the lidocaine in my nose wore off for the sinus scope. Wasn't the easiest. They don't do a good job explaining things to you, but I had it done before so i knew what to expect. Like many others was shown a strange video of a sinus balloon procedure? It all felt like a sales pitch. Had a CT scan that followed the video to check my sinuses. ( I will admit fault here that I should have stopped there and said something because this was a lot for the first visit). I counted 4/5 surgeries and/or medical procedures they wanted to do. This is a red flag on the first visit. Nothing had been diagnosed beyond possible acid reflux and deviation of the nose. Common stuff. The end of the day I was charged probably 500-600$ out of my pocket. I'm sure I'll get a response to rectify this, and as a business I can't knock them for that. There are I'm sure smart intelligent doctors on staff, but this is clearly more about making money than helping patients. Somewhere along the road maybe the financial desire grew beyond the desire to have good bedside manner and pick a plan that is beneficial to the patient and their life. Dr. Patel was the physician who attended to me. I do not recommend. I was referred by an internal medicine physician because I have allergies and had a history of positive allergy test results. I went to my appointment with confidence. The medical assistant who attended to me administered a skin test and the results then without explaining the second test (and additional costs) went ahead and administered another (without explaining the need/cost or reasoning) after the test was done, Dr. Patel came in my room for two minutes to advise that all tests were negative, but prescribed a nasal spray. The following evening I had a reaction on my arm, sent information via the patient portal and emails, called the office three times only to get a response by her medical assistant. Total lack of patient care for a physician not to feel a need to personally respond to a patient under her care. Despite having sent pictures of my reaction, and being advised that I do not have any seasonal allergies I still have a very difficult time, with allergies when I am exposed to the outdoors (grass, pollen etc). Never the less was charged over $700 for a two minute conversation with a doctor who has absolutely no care in the world for a patients needs. Please do not visit this office, don't call (they'll have a medical assistant who you've never met respond to your medical needs), do not use the patient portal or the triage email (no one will respond). I am a young public health professional and I am beyond disappointed by this scam that's run by these physicians. read more

Got charged $800 to have my septum issues completely ignored and given a prescription for an OTC allergy medication instead that wasn't even covered by my insurance, and to be told to call back in a couple weeks to schedule a new appointment to see if they could actually do anything; which you know, would've been nice to have had done the first time when I showed up and actually asked to be treated. Clearly trying to milk people's insurance as much as they can without actually doing anything. My experience with Dr. Venkatesan was amazing. Dr. Venkatesan is very knowledgeable and was extremely positive during all of my appointments with him. I was diagnosed with chronic maxillary sinusitis and nasal polyps which were causing me to have intense headaches. He performed a vivaer/balloon sinuplasty, that changed my life completely. Now I can breathe better, have no headaches, and have much more energy. I am so grateful to Dr. Venkatesan, and the entire team who were very professional and efficient! read more

No problem with the doctors, but the administration and billing department has absolutely zero idea what they're doing. I went to Chicago ENT for a CT scan, which in the end garnered no results and was sent to a neurologist for an MRI--which is fine. However, I had incurred a great deal of medical expenses during this time (as a result for the needed CT scan and subsequent MRI), and hadn't been able to make a payment to Chicago ENT. I received a letter stating that if I didn't make a payment within 30 days, I would be sent to collections. I IMMEDIATELY called Chicago ENT to make a payment. When I called, I was told my account had already been placed in collections. I told them I had received a letter literally that day that stated I had 30 days to make a payment, which I was trying to do now. They said it had already been sent to collections, but it was an in-house collections department so if I made a payment today everything should be fine. I made a payment and confirmed MULTIPLE times with the person I was speaking with (Mariana) that this would remove my account from collections and my account balance would be updated on the online payment app. I did this on 12/5/22. It is now 1/3/23, and my account balance has not changed. I have recorded my conversations with the billing department. Mariana has confirmed multiple times that she's taken my payment (which is reflected on my end), but for whatever reason is not reflected within the billing department. I have called multiple times per week since making the payment and her answer is exactly the same: that her hands are tied until she hears back from the billing department (even though my account was sent to collections prematurely). This entire time, my account balance has not been updated, there is no record of me making a payment, and my account is sitting in collections--putting me at risk of damaging my credit. It is absolutely bonkers, I feel like I'm taking crazy pills. I started recording my conversations with Mariana to help document and protect myself should Chicago ENT try to dispute this review or me having made payments. This is absolutely insane. This place is AWFUL! My brother was recommended to go here after being diagnosed with sleep apnea. My brother is deaf and I went to interpret for him. We were asked to watch a video of the "Doctors tv press" which I had to explain to my brother because the tv didn't have CC. He had to get a test in office, WE HAD TO WAIT 1 HOUR! We finally met with the doctor that suggested a nose and throat surgery. As much as I told my brother to get a second opinion, he chose to have the surgery. After the surgery at the follow up appointment. We met with another doctor that wanted my brother to speak to him on his own because in his Middle East homeland deaf people are forced to speak because it's all in their heads! WOW! Really?!? I stilled signed for my brother, he's 45 yrs old.... it's not a faze. Before the 2nd throat surgery my bro had to take another sleep test (which came out worse than before the surgery) the Doctor said he needed to buy a mouth guard 1st to see if it worked. If not, then they would do the thoart surgery. We left and have never returned. Rude staff is one thing, but awful and rude doctors are the worst humans. The staff is mostly nice. Receptionists can act a bit cold, but I don't think it's intentional. However, there is a giant disconnect between what the doctors and nurses do and what reception knows. My doctor double booked a sinus CT and allergy skin test back to back and it was a frustrating experience. The receptionists had no clue the doctor told me he would do my sinus CT results same day and had to book a 3rd appointment for a literal 1 minute discussion. I absolutely love Dr. Friedman, he is such a friendly person and you can tell he cares. I went to him because I was having chronic sinus infections. After my initial visit and then a CT scan his suspicions were confirmed that I had a deviated septum and VERY narrow sinuses. He performed the sinus surgery to correct the septum and widen my sinuses. Even with all the swelling I could already breath so much better! You never realize how much you are not breathing until you are able to do it for real!! I had to have a few check ups and I saw another Dr. Jeswani and she was awesome as well. Very friendly and thorough. Overall I would highly recommend them. read more

I am very grateful for Chicago ENT. I originally went through my GP doctor for sleep apnea. While it was fine, After not getting equipment and such I decided to find a Doctor experienced with CPAP needs etc. My experience with Chicago ENT was much better as they are specialists at CPAP and sleep apnea. I, like everyone else who searches for doctors, found this place on Yelp and Google as it had decent marks, lots of reviews, and was in a good, convenient location (Lakeview). All I have to say is, meh. I went to get my hearing tested and the technician/specialist lady was ok but the foreign doctor was unsympathetic and had a poor bedside manner. Maybe I just got one of their worse doctors. I dunno. I have other ENT issues but chose to not return and to take my business elsewhere. read more

I highly recommend this place. The staff is always very helpful and my doctor is always able to answer my questions and concerns. I come to this clinic for my allergy shots, so I spend a ton of time here. The only complaint I have is having to pay for parking. I went here to see Dr.Levy about my throat. I had really bad tonsil stones and he removed them but then just told me to watch YouTube videos next time instead of visiting them. The reception desk was awful as they tried to decline my insurance yet this place was recommended by my insurance. They need to do better. read more

I have had a horrible experience with the office that schedules appointments. First they scheduled me for an audio doctor when I needed help with sinus issues. Then the apt with Dr Friedman got cancelled last minute the day after Labor Day, and they only had one option for me to reschedule forcing me to have to cancel work meetings. All of the specialists have been great, but the office staff and Dr Friedman himself not a good experience at all. read more

My mother was a patient of Dr Michael Freidman and was extremely over billed. She was very unsatisfied with the service. Especially the billing. A bill was sent to collection all while she received a refund after being over billed. She spoke of how extremely rude the staff and doctor was. I am writing this review because my mother is elderly. And I will follow this up with an official claim to the BBB. Because I am sure their billing practice is not and has not only affected her. read more

Updated review to add a couple things, but TL;DR version is that I've had two experiences here, both times the doctors here misdiagnosed their patients, once in what could've been a life-threatening mistake, and you should seek a second opinion if you still choose them. 1) Since a tonsillectomy performed in February 2016, no longer have sleep apnea. After thinking for years that I must have some super complicated problem because Dr. Friedman at Chicago ENT performed surgery on me and still couldn't fix it, I decided, what the heck, and tried a different ENT. On my very first visit, after I explained my symptoms, my prior surgery, and was examined, my new ENT blinked a couple times and looked at me like I was an alien. He asked if anyone had ever told me I had extremely large tonsils. Once, I said - my primary care doctor - but not the ENT who'd performed my surgery. The new ENT blinked again and said very calmly that I had "3+ tonsils" (apparently medical speak for "pretty damn oversized"), and he could see, even when I was breathing normally and awake that they were obstructing my airway. He then told me that he didn't want to disparage whomever had done my treatment before, but that he didn't know how any doctor who heard me complain of the apnea symptoms I'd experienced and then examined my throat could ever not think to tell me the problem could be my gigantic tonsils. Fast forward, I had a tonsillectomy and have been snore- and apnea-free ever since (at least according to my very happy boyfriend). Dr. F, I'm sure, is a good man. But he seemed to have just been wanting to push his method rather than actually treat me. And, Dr. F, since you responded to me I'll respond as well to say my real-life initials are MR, my DOB is in 1985, and you performed my surgery on or around (within at most 2 weeks of) August 7, 2009, in case you want to look up my file. And no, I did not come back, as I didn't want to return to a team that had literally performed surgery on me without any results. 2) Alas, that long review above was not the end of my Chicago ENT experience. My mother had been complaining that my stepfather, who had never snored or had sleeping problems in their 20 years of marriage, had begun to stop breathing in his sleep. She would hear his calm breathing, then silence for sometimes up to 30 seconds, then he would start taking deep, gasping breaths. So, in September 2018, I booked them with the first available ENT I could find on Zocdoc - Dr. Venkatesan. My stepdad went in to his appointment and in less than 20 minutes had come out. My mom and stepdad said they'd felt rushed, that the doctor had barely listened to them, had done a nasal endoscopy, declared that he could see obstruction in my stepfather's throat and that his septum was off, and prescribed him a sleep study and told him he'd likely give him a CPAP. When my mom explained that it didn't seem like obstructive apnea because there was no snoring, just abrupt stopping of breathing, and that it seemed strange that someone who'd never snored or had apnea could all of a sudden have obstruction causing such a swift and drastic change, she said he literally waved his hand, said "no, no, it's an obstructed airway," and began to walk away. When she said she'd googled it and thought it could be central sleep apnea - caused by the brain not telling him to breathe - and explained his other symptoms - shortness of breath during mundane tasks, persistent cough, fatigue, discomfort while laying flat, he again waved her off and said he'd see them after the sleep test. We saw another ENT because my mother was so distraught at how dismissive Dr. Venkatesan has been, and the new ENT did a nasal endoscopy and, similar to my story above, looked shocked to hear of Dr. Venkatesan's diagnosis. She saw no obstruction whatsoever nor any problems with his septum and said that his symptoms did, as my mother found by literally googling, sound like central apnea and possible heart failure, and that he needed to get to a cardiologist and/or a pulmonary specialist right away. Sure enough, my stepdad was soon after diagnosed as being in the late stages of heart failure - you can google the symptoms described above for yourself and see that an experienced doctor should've seen them as classic signs of this like the second ENT did, and not obstructive sleep apnea. He was hospitalized immediately and treated for the heart failure that was causing his central sleep apnea. We never returned to Dr. Venkatesan. His carelessness and cool and dismissive behavior were horrifying for my parents and could've ended dangerously had my stepfather not sought another opinion and gotten a doctor who listened and identified a major problem - thanks goodness for her, and shame on Dr. Venkatesan. Seriously, beware of this place. I had started to think my experience in 09 may have been just a fluke, but 10 years later, after yet another horrible experience, I have changed my mind. read more
