I have been a patient of the Chicago Eye Institute since 2012, and shame on me for taking this long to write a review. My general practitioner referred me to Dr. Lewicky. At that time, I was legally blind in my left eye. The vision in my right eye was also compromised. A cataract procedure on each eye restored my vision to its original 20/20 status. I have been seeing Dr. Lewicky once a year since then. Here it is, twelve years later, and on my check up last month, I STILL have 20/20 vision...for which Dr. Lewicky has my eternal gratitude. I would be remiss if I didn't mention staff member Louise. During my last few visits, she has been performing the preliminary portion of my examination. She is friendly, professional and understanding. I am often a trifle anxious whenever I visit any type of medical facility. Louise is so understanding of this and her manner is calming and reassuring. She obviously has been doing this for some time and enjoys helping people. My wife is also a patient and has the same high opinion of Dr. Lewicky and Louise as myself. My wife and I plan on being patients for many years to come and we both recommend the Chicago Eye Institute heartily. read more

I have been a patient for over 10 years. I was at my final appointment with Dr. Tresley who was retiring. He assigned me a new doctor to replace him, gave me an exam and turned in a prescription for an eye ointment. He told me to take twice a week and return in 6 months for follow up with my new doctor. I then proceed to the check out counter and nobody was there. A dental assistant Tony (a great guy) approaches me and ask if he can help me. I explain I need to make my next appointment and he offers to find someone. I thank him but since they are apparently busy I tell him I will call when I get home. On the way home I stop at Walgreens to pick up my RX and discover it was not sent in. I call the office from Walgreens and got voice mail. I should mention that in recent memory I have never actually spoken to a human when calling their office. Finally 3 days later a woman calls me back. I explain my refill dilemma and without missing a beat she says they do not do refills and I need to make an appointment. When I tried to explain she repeated her first claim like a robot. This woman obviously has not had companionship since Reagan's first term. A complete lack of patience, concern and empathy. That was it. I am now a satisfied patient of the Gerstein Eye Institute and to make matters sweeter, they are on the same block as Culver's and Chipotle. Life is good. read more

Although it can take awhile to get an appointment, the doctors are very knowledgeable and kind.

It is always a hassle calling and dealing with the Chicago Arbor Eye Institute. Their reception/scheduling staff is incompetent as they advised me that they will accept my insurance and then when I arrived at the office (traveled all the way there) I was told they do not accept my insurance. Then they had an attitude when I called them out on it. It is extremely rare that they answer their calls, the calls go directly to voice mail (like many other medical facilities) and they say they will call you back, BUT THEY NEVER DO. This is a totally unprofessional way of running a business, ESPECAILLY a medical facility. I love my eye doctor but the front desk staff make the experience a very stressful one. read more

My Mother had an appt here at 10:30am. We walk in and there are at least 25 other exasperated people waiting. She didn't get called until nearly 11:30am, at which point they herded her and a few others into a room like cattle and she is still there almost an hour and a half later. I've been here waiting for 2 and a half hours with no end in sight, no apologies or 2 shits and a giggle given. These people behind the counter couldn't care less that there are elderly people waiting. They're too busy double and triple overbooking their doctors. Stay away. Find another office. Absolutely not worth the time kill. read more

This is a great place to go and take care of your eyes! The service was professional and prompt. Well experienced staff take care of you and to make sure that you are comfortable during the whole process. They will do on-site treatment for retina issues that do come up with age and Other factors. I highly recommend this team of professionals. read more

getting an appointment is super difficult.. Then once youre there, the medical assistants/nurses seem unprofessional, I had to tell the medical assistant/nurse how to do certain eye tests since they were sloppy and not even adjusting the equipment to conduct evaluations properly that I've undergone since 1989!...and they have you sitting without eyewear waiting for hours to be seen, hours after your appointment time in a packed hallway area, which just leaves you anxious and on edge. Once in the final room with the ophthalmologist its ok, but at that time you're irritated and ornery after the awful experience leading up to that point in the appointment. My mother's eye doctor is here and she has been going there for a while. Let's start off with the positive first; the eye doctor is extremely nice and is super gentle with his patients. The office is updated and clean. There is parking space in the back. Here are the opportunities for improvement; the staff - They are truly rude and unwelcoming and just not helpful. The nurse has no bed side manner. Getting an appointment here is a struggle the front desk will give you the run around. I would give this place 4 stars if the staff would work on their interactions with patients. However, i can truly only give it two stars because our experience was awful this visit. read more

Positives: the doctor is nice Opportunities: the staff isn't very nice and lacks basic human interaction skills (like saying hello when you walk up, instead of saying "last name"), this place is only good if you're an older person looking to have no deeper treatment than regular eye appointments and routine eye drop refills. However, if you're a younger to middle age person, find a place that will look deeper into your issues and not treat you like a cookie cutter patient. Also, the wait is insane. Just this morning, I checked in on time, then, despite being checked in on time, had to wait more than 45 minutes to actually see the doctor (no eye drops were administered). I understand that most of the patients here are retired and may have nothing to do with their days, but some of us have meetings and things to do. Please consider hiring more doctors or reducing the number of patients you can see per day. read more

First of all, my mother's doctor is excellent. He is completely professional and caring. However, the nurse who assisted us today was extremely crabby and rude. My mother is disabled in a wheelchair. When we walked into the room, this nurse sat right away blocking my way to wheel my mom to the apparatus. I had little space to move around. While on the apparatus to check for her eyes, this nurse grabbed my mother's shoulder and forced her on the apparatus while the apparatus was hitting her stomach. I said something to her that it's hitting her stomach and she rudely replied she needs my mother on the apparatus. I realized that the apparatus could be adjusted when I watched the doctor slowly adjusted the apparatus afterwards. So this nurse was clearly lazy and must be in a hurry. She could have adjusted the apparatus to my mom if she really wanted to. I wish I read the reviews before making my appointment. I will never, never recommend this location and will never return. Should have read the reviews first. Maybe the physicians are good, but I never got to see one, because after waiting, waiting, and waiting, with no updates at all, I finally gave up. From the time I walked in, where the receptionist waved me away from the window and told me to sit and wait and didn't acknowledge me again until after my appointment time -- she was busy talking to another receptionist -- to the person who did the intake but didn't want to talk or answer questions, to being sent to another waiting area that looked like what can only be described as some kind of a storage area and the chairs were so haphazardly arranged and so close together that if someone sat across from you their knees would be pushed into yours, it was a really disappointing experience for an appointment two months in the waiting. When I finally decided an hour after I was supposed to be seen that I wasn't going to wait any longer, I had to find someone just to tell I was leaving. Clearly this is a facility that does not care at all about the patient experience. read more

I love how I get treated at Chicago Eye Institute. I have been going there for years and never had anything bad to say about there staff. They know how to treat you with respect.
