Customer service thru the phone was good, But horrible food severed me old fatty beef short ribs & it was cold as well. Than when I called up there to tell them they finally told me that something wrong with a heater that heat the food so they selling food that they have to warm back up basically shit is weird than she didn't ask how could she make it right or anything like why be open if you knew it's something wrong with the kitchen

The business is black owned and very cute and cosy. The cashier was courteous. The food was absolutely delicious. And I definitely enjoyed the lemonade. It was made in a reasonable time and ready as expected. I would definitely order again as I live very close by... Definitely worth checking out.

I recently came up with a "I Can't Stop Talking About How Good They Are" list. Food On The Run is now on the list. In my usual fashion, I arrived at the restaurant just as they were opening. Ordered lemon pepper salmon with sides of collards, candied yams, and macaroni and cheese. I have gone to enough Northern soul food restaurants to not have high expectations. Food On the Run blew my mind. The salmon was tasty and juicy without being undercooked. The collards actually had flavor; Lord knows that a lot of restaurants get that wrong. The macaroni and cheese was of the variety that you bring to family dinner with bragging rights. And the candied yams only needed crust. For takeaway, I had a slice of sweet potato pie that was real deal goody-goody. Because I got to the restaurant as early as I did, the dining area wasn't quite ready to receive seatings. However, they made a quick adjustment and I was able to enjoy everything right from the kitchen. I don't know what magic ball they have. They kept telling me I'll be back. They weren't lying.

I was looking for a restaurant that was open near me and I saw they had just opened so I decided to give them a try. Relax atmosphere and the cashier was very nice even during a crazy rush and this crazy time. They do ask for your telephone number to text you to tell you that your food is ready. The first time the cashier forgot to get my number and I wasn't aware that my food was ready. I've tried them a few times to just make sure that I got the review right. First time I tried the fried chicken with turkey spaghetti, corn on the cob and garlic bread. Second time I got turkey meatloaf with Mac and cheese and mashed potatoes. I also tried the lemonade and purple passion punch. The Fried Chicken was okay nothing to write home about I think that it could have used a little more seasoning. The Turkey Spaghetti was very good was perfectly seasoned and had the perfect balance and it was rare to see turkey spaghetti because not a lot of places serve it. Corn on the cob was okay mine didn't come with any butter and needed some salt. garlic bread was good. Turkey meatloaf was very good it was moist and came with gravy and rare again as places don't normally serve turkey meatloaf. Mac and cheese was really good had the perfect amount of cheese and it was creamy. Mashed potatoes was good it does come with the skin in it and it was seasoned perfectly. Lemonade and the purple passion punch were good but wayyy to sweet for me I added water to mine. Price wise it can become a little expensive. Overall good restaurant, food is good and I would try it again.

This "neighborhood gem" did not disappoint. I had the smothered chicken with green beans and mashed potatoes. Everything was delicious. They have daily specials along with a few regular entrees. I can't wait to try other dishes. Their customer service stood out. The guys upfront were friendly. Customer service is everything, and hard to find in the hood. It's nice decor on the inside as well. I love a neighborhood gem. See you later, Chicago Food on the Run! You just earned a regular customer!

Smothered turkey chops w/rice, Loaded Red Skin Mash Potatoes, and my sad looking Mac & Cheese.

I've been meaning to try out this spot for a while now and I finally broke down and decided to give it a go. I went the delivery route via Uber and ordered the smothered turkey chops (which is served with rice) and you get two more sides so I got the loaded mashed potatoes, Mac and cheese, a small side of string beans w/potatoes and the purple passion punch. The string beans and loaded potatoes were ok. Although I barely had any gravy, the smothered turkey chops saved the meal cause they were seasoned well and soo tender! But....my mac and cheese was disappointing. It was edible but it just looked SAD. I was expecting a more creamy cheesy consistency but that was not the case here. The purple passion punch was good. Taste like grape kool-aid. Since I was very pleased with them smothered turkey chops, I would definitely try them out again and hopefully the day that I do, their mac and cheese game will be a lot more on point.

The dishes I ordered were pretty good. Although this establishment was pricy but I wanted a home cooked meal that I could get fast. Due to COVID-19, they will only let a few people in at a time, but it didn't take to long to get my order. Note: You have to order your food in person. They do not take orders over the phone.

It's surprisingly hard to find one that's consistently good, but Crab King is by far my favorite. What sets them apart is the sauce and seasoning. It's flavorful without being overly salty, and the medium spice level is just right. I've been to Lowcountry plenty of times, and I personally find their boils way too salty. I honestly don't understand the hype when compared to Crab King. As of now, this is the best seafood boil I've had in Chicago. Of course, if a new spot opens, I'll happily give it a try, but Crab King is currently my #1. Their happy hour is also hard to beat. The seafood boil deals are great, and the $1 oysters are an added bonus. If you're a seafood boil lover, I definitely recommend giving this place a try!

My daughter asked to come here so we came downtown on a Friday around 7:30pm and it was pretty crowded, but by it only being two of us our wait time was less than 10 minutes. Once seated you scan the QR code to look over the menu and once decided you go to one counter to place your food order and the bar to place your drink order, they then bring your food to the table and our food came pretty quick after ordering. Bib on, gloves on, time to dig in... My daughter ordered the bag with shrimp, crab legs, corn and potatoes and I ordered lobster tails, corn and potatoes and two lemonades (lemonades were delicious!) We ordered our food with the everythang sauce (which is a mix of all their sauces) and it was really good and really flavorful. Messy is to be expected but surprisingly the food mess was manageable and did not take away from my dining experience. The amount of crab legs in my bag to me did not justify $32 and if it wasn't for the potatoes and two corns I'm sure I would of still been hungry. Seafood boils are not a cheap experience neither, our meals with the two lemonades and no alcohol was $110, so definitely not an every weekend dining option, but leaving I did see on their info board that their shrimp, crab bags are $28 Monday - Thursday and they look to have a pretty good happy hour so this might be a reason for a quicker return. Overall my experience was pretty good.

Service fee at bar is $16 dollars and some change. Quality of seafood was subpar at best, the snow crab was overcooked and the "Everythang" sauce was nasty, in general the sauce was too thick for my liking. No Dungeness crab only snow crab. No black mussels only green mussels. Bill was high for nothing, overly priced. The service was poor and also irritating. Obviously a bar maid attending to guests who are eating is not such a great idea. Non attentive, and well as taking shots with customers. I've eaten at many seafood establishments and this is the worst boil bag seafood place I've ever patronized.

Then I tried the shrimp and grits and had a small crisis about which one I liked better. Still haven't settled it. The grits were creamy, the shrimp had real seasoning, and I cleaned the plate. He apologized each time, but after it kept happening, it became frustrating and uncomfortable. He was also spraying 409 heavily at the table right next to us while we were eating. It was so much spray that I genuinely felt like it may have gotten on my food. On top of that, he repeatedly dropped things around our table and seemed to have a difficult time maneuvering through the dining area. It honestly made me wonder if the table placement itself was part of the problem The food service was also disappointing. My meal came out first, and I had to wait quite a while for my sister's chicken biscuit. When it finally arrived, the chicken was not cooked all the way through. My pancake and bacon were both good. I just wish the overall experience had matched the quality of those items. The vibe, the ambiance, the semi-dark mood lighting, and the people just vibing out after work? Yes! It was rainy that day, and I honestly didn't think we were going to get in. Needless to say, I was done, okay? We had woken up late, had breakfast, did a few things, got tired, and dozed off. But nevertheless, my husband makes it happen, okay? They were able to seat us at the bar, and listen, I loved watching the bartenders do their thing. I'm always curious about how they make their drinks, how they get along, and how they interact with the customers. You could tell that a lot of the people eating at the bar were regulars, okay? We had never been there before, but everybody around us had something good to say. The lady sitting to my left was from St. Louis, and when I tell you, she could not stop raving about this restaurant! She had been there a few times, and even though she's from out of town, anytime she's in the Chi, she stops by. Another guy had already been three times that week! He even brought his other half to check out the basement and listen to some music. From what he told us, they have DJs on certain days, along with other live acts. It gives almost a speakeasy vibe. We didn't make it downstairs this time, but we already said that when we go back, with reservations, we are definitely spending some time down there. Listen, I'm about to jump all over the place with this review, because everything was hitting! The butter cake, okay?! Totally amazing. It was light, airy, and not overly rich. I'm in a season where I'm not doing too much sweet, okay? I mean, I'mma eat my sweets, don't get it twisted... but over-the-top and doing too much? Yeah, no. This was perfect. You could taste what needed to be tasted, okay? Some guys sitting near us had ordered it, and listen, they maxed. They bust that thing down. Once we tried it, we understood exactly why. Now, the food! I had what I believe was the lemon pepper chicken Alfredo. Oh my gosh! Rich cheese, rich white sauce, and everything tasted homemade, okay? Don't give me that other stuff, y'all. My husband had some type of seafood pasta situation, and he absolutely loved it. We also had some egg rolls that were phenomenal. Listen, I have never been in a situation where I ate my entire meal. All of it! Usually, I'm taking something to go, and then it never gets eaten. This time there wasn't anything left to take. That's all I'mma say! The drinks did exactly what they needed to do, okay? Shout-out to the bartender! I can't remember his name, but listen, he wore the cowboy hat. I was feeling it! Awesome food, awesome drinks, awesome vibe, and an awesome time. This is prob the one thing that I love the most. Great service. The seafood boil is pretty good. They give you a bib and gloves to keep you relatively clean. You have to use your hands to eat your food and work for it. Go for the seafood Cajun sauce (garlic, butter, lemon pepper). It was super good flavor. Mild is the way to go. We asked for spicy sauce on the side for an extra dollar. I would skip the preset family meals. Order 1-2 lbs of your favorite seafood. They have prices per lb on the large chalk board. The shrimp, crawfish was cooked well. The crab legs were boiled before cooked, so the shell was soft and easy to cut with scissors. Next time, I'd get the shrimp, crawfish, clams, and mussels. The family feast ($145)- came with king crab, snow crab, option of 2 from shrimp, crawfish, mussels, clams. Also, a scoop of rice, green beans, garlic noodles, and fries. Our server let us know right away that they were short staffed in the kitchen and therefore orders were taking 45 minutes to an hour to come out. Not a problem, we understand and ordered some apps to get us by. The food is why I'm giving it 3 starts. We ordered the calamari, which was soooo overcooked it was tough and chewy, I couldn't even swallow it. We ordered the cajun fries too and they were okay. My partner and I both ordered king crab legs with the house cajun sauce. Let me just say the sauce itself was amazing! Super delicious and tasty, not too salty, very flavorful. But both of our king crab legs were way overcooked, to the point where the meat seemed shrunk, it was very firm and rubbery/gummy. Unfortunately for paying such a high price for 1lb, this was extremely disappointing. Being that 3 seperate dishes were overcooked, I personally wouldn't return for this reason alone. Very disappointed but I feel like this issue can easily be fixed! Hoping to return one day because the flavors were definitely there, but unfortunately not anytime soon.
