The big back in me didn't think it would be enough food for 2 but I was so wrong. The combo comes with shrimp, 2 snow crab, 2 corns, potatoes, and 4 pieces of their delicious cornbread! There is main floor and basement seating. I like how Lowcountry has sinks in the open and that you don't have to go to the bathroom to wash your hands. I usually go to the south loop location but the lakeview location is a solid choice. They have a good weekday specials - Wednesday and Thursday. I've been to many seafood cajun boil restaurants and I have to be honest, this wasn't comparable, especially for the price. It was almost $100 for two people, and the flavor of the sauces were lacking the Cajun taste we were looking for. It wasn't BAD but it tasted like they just decided to mix whatever they think will taste good in the sauce. There was no real thought in how these different flavors could complement each other. It was just salty, and the other flavors were almost nonexistent. Another issue is there weren't a lot of combo choices, and that forces you to "build your own." Most Cajun places I've been to, when you build your own, potatoes and corn are automatically included, but at Low Country, you have to pay for them separately. I would give this a two star but the seafood was cooked well and the sausage tasted great. And the workers were pretty nice. We came here for my birthday dinner. My husband found this place online as we've tried other places for the same type of food the place was basically empty. The lucky part was that we found a parking right outside when somebody got out otherwise you would have to literally search for parking ! We got there at about eight. The snow crabs were so small and pricey 25.00 for a set of maybe 4 little pieces- Oh they do not offer any water and. No one comes to check on you. They have a tip jar next to their register and to be honest I'm not sure why because they disappear and they bring out your food and they walk away and that's the last time you see them! Also the cornbread had jalapeños in it which I didn't care for- they should just stick with plain not everybody eats jalapeños, and the shrimp did not taste like they were cooked in the sauce the shrimp taste like the sauce was already made, and they were tossed in there at the last minute and then brought out... which explains why our food was brought out in less than 20 minutes - the picture is nice, but that's all it was. I wish the food was just as good and this is just my honest opinion. I ordered the second combo on their board. My husband ordered combo number five .You have to order at the checkout counter. You don't order at your table. One thing I did find cute where the cute bottles of homemade... a little too sweet for my taste ... but I can repurpose them at home. We spent over $100 .. I ordered two 1 pound shrimp combo bags. One bag had their "everythang" sauce with heat level 1. The other bag had Cajun with heat level 2. They honestly both tasted the same two me. Couldn't tell the difference. Most importantly, it was delicious. The heat level was just right as well as the sauce. The sauce also made the corn and the potatoes taste delicious. I hate peeling shrimp. Especially when all the sauce comes off the shrimp when you're done peeling it. So I peeled all my shrimp first, threw it back in the bag and shook it up to make sure all my shrimp was coated in the sauce before it went it my mouth. Absolutely delicious. Love this spot! Since my last review they have changed things. You stand in line to order and they bring your food to the table. I always get the DIY bag, and my favorite things to add are the shrimp, sausage and potato with a side of jalapeno cheddar cornbread. I would double up on sausage instead of getting corn next time. The everything seasoning is their most popular, though they have 4 options to choose from. You do have to work for your meal. The shrink don't come unpeeled, but that's past of what makes it fun. Portion size was pretty sizeable and I shared with 3 people. The taste itself was good but nothing to write home about. I am not too familiar with seafood boils so not sure what to compare it too but we got the mild spicy with the everything sauce. It is pretty salty. I've been to several Cajun boils in the city, and Lowcountry is probably one of my favorite. My husband and I usually get the double double which includes 1 LB of shrimp, 2 snow crab clusters, 4 cornbreads, 3 corns, 6 potatoes, and 2 soda. We also add in sausages and 1 LB of mussels with the everthang sauce (garlic, lemon-pepper, and Cajun sauce). For the heat level, we like hot. It's spicy but tolerable where you won't ruin your meal. FOOD: the portions were decent. I wasn't overly full but definitely satisfied when I left. The mussels and shrimps were large, and the crab legs had a good amount of meat. The cornbread is my favorite thing there. It is sweet but it has some heat to it because of the jalapeños. It is more on the dense side but the flavors are amazing. DRINKS: your meal will come with 2 sodas and there are a variety you can choose from (Pepsi, Sierra Mist, crush, ginger ale, etc.). If you like cocktails, definitely get their hurricane cocktail or their margaritas. Strong but not overly sweet. SERVICE: it is self service where you will have to go to the counter to order your food and someone will bring it out to you. So I can't really comment on their service. The only down side of Lowcountry is that your fingers will smell like seafood for hours. As mush as I washed my hands, the smell lingered for what it seemed like for 2 days. Wow. What happened here? Nothing good, let me tell you. Hadn't been to Lowcountry in almost 5 years. This will be my last visit. Sauce was still delicious, but head-on shrimps are off the menu. The "giant prawns" were stone cold throughout and when I told the fella at the counter where you order, but he didn't care. Worst of all, you had to run two different tabs - one at the bar and another for your food - inside the same restaurant. This was such a cool eating experience in a hotspot of lake view. I'm not too much of a city person as I tend to like my peace and quiet in the suburbs. However, I cannot deny that the city of chicago produces some amazing spots to eat. And lowcountry lake view certainly was one of them. Looked at reviews for Lowcountry Loop and Chinatown locations and decided to take a farther Uber ride to this Lakeview location and happy I did. The service was okay, nothing special. The sauce and seafood were good and the flavors were delicious minus the cornbread as it was too oily and the jalapeño in it ruined it for me; that's just my taste though. Lowcountry Merrillville , I was rather disappointed tonight. I came in for the $38 special at ur location and had the worst experience. Food was undercooked. Once I brought it to their attention, staff was not accommodating at all and rather rude af! I usually go the one downtown and it's superb but stick a fork in me because Im done. The so called manager said she would get the general manager just so I could have a conversation but he never came and I was told to just go to desk and get a refund and was blown off but clearly seen the manager come out for others that had issues. Delicious all around. The shell of the king crab is so soft you dont have to fight hard to get to your dinner. Garlic noodles were a delicious staple. It is an honor for my 200th review to go to Lowcountry! What a gem this restaurant is. I've been to a real authentic crawfish boil in the heart of Texas, and I can confidently say this food is the real deal!! So they have pre-set combos you can choose from, or you can build your own bag by choosing a seafood, sauce, spice level, and add-ins like veggies and sausage. There is also a veggie bowl for us non-seafood eaters that comes with potatoes, corn, broccoli, cauliflower, and green beans. For sauces, you choose garlic, lemon pepper, cajun, or a mix of all 3 called Everythang. The everythang is bangin. The food comes out so fast and the portions are massive. Everything in the bag is so dang good and there is plenty of extra sauce. There is also a full bar, and if you come during happy hour, I definitely recommend sitting at the bar. Happy hour at 6pm on a Sunday night was 1/2 off everything - beer, wine, and cocktails. I got a delicious hurricane for literally $6! The super sweet bartender also gave us a shot on the house. The bar also offers full food service, while the rest of the restaurant is an order at the window deal. I love love LOVE LowCountry ! I don't go as often as I'd like but it's my go to spot for seafood boils and you can't forget their incredible cornbread. I can't go to Lowcountry without getting the corn bread! Depending on how many items you get with your bag , it's really easy to share with friends or even get your own. I also really enjoy that I can choose what type of sauce I want and the spice level. I always get the everything sauce with a 2.5 lvl spice. I eat pretty spicy but lvl three is a bit too much for me. I've been to other seafood spots and the sauces at Lowcountry are amazing. Not too salty or too greasy. The waffle fries are a bit underwhelming compared to everything else but they aren't horrible, I just wouldn't order them again. The pina colada was strong! Definitely a nice buzz to enjoy the meal. The restaurant itself is very cute with tons of Mardi Gras decorations giving it a fun vibe! It has a basement as well and it's decked out ! We celebrated my cousin's birthday (before the shelter-in-place order) and got takeout from here. There was some mishap with ordering at first. I tried to fill out the online order but it wouldn't submit the page. I called and the guy said that I can't order delivery over the phone nor can I order takeout over the phone, that it all had to be done online. I was frustrated so I had my friend call back 2 min later. When she called, he said it's fine to order takeout over the phone. ??? That aside, there was about 8 people at this celebration. They got down everything right and it was wrapped up securely, which is hard for something this big and saucy! I was impressed. Most of us ordered the Fill Your Own Bag where you can pick your seafood, sauce, spice, and sides. I got shrimp head on, garlic, weak sauce, with a side of potatoes and jalapeño cornbread. It was amazing and SO filling. I did have a little left over and that was still good the day after. My cousins and friends all liked their food too. My absolute most favorite seafood boil in all of the Chicago area. The food is very fresh. My family and I chose what we wanted in our bags. The price is a little more expensive than other seafood boil restaurants, but I think it is very worth it. I suggest getting all of the sauces in your bag, especially if you like spicy! First time was a Good Time! Let's take it from the top. They don't open until 5pm. Don't be like me, getting all excited and show at 2pm thinking you're about to eat lunch. lol. ‍ The menu prices have changed. Sorry I forgot to get a pic. After making selections from the menu, you walk to the cashier, give them your table number, place and pay for your food. Pick up your bucket, beverages (can soda/juice and utensils. Water is complimentary. You can buy bottled water or choose is an option with your combo. You fill your own ice and/or water with the paper cups. Then wait for your food to get delivered to your table. The wait for our food was surprisingly short, considering how many ppl came on Friday night. We purchased the shrimp combo, with an extra snow crab cluster, an order of fried shrimp, extra potatoes, wings, and a side of everything sauce. The fried shrimp was soooo good, we jumped back up and got another order. It was so crispy and get this, the crust did NOT come apart as you ate it. The fried shrimp came with a Cajun aioli sauce so delicious that we took the extra home. It also had a creamy dill sauce that tasted like the tzatziki sauce that you put on a gyro. My daughter loved this sauce the most. I chose Cajun flavored with mild heat for my shrimp combo with the extra snow crab. It was cheaper than the shrimp & snow crab combo. Just in case I didn't like it. The potatoes were filling. Corn crisp. Snow crab was juicy. The cornbread had a great flavor, more on the sweet side, which worked well when you bit into the pepper for a savory kick. The Cajun flavor had a little too much garlic for my taste and could use some old bay seasoning, but was otherwise very delicious. That everything sauce was EveryTHANG. You have to ask for a salt & pepper shaker. We chose the Buffalo flavored wings, fried hard. I did not like the wings, but my daughter liked them. We couldn't even finish half of our food, so today we are eating round two for lunch at home. Side Note: There's side street metered parking in Lakeview. There's a lot of construction on the CTA subway going on in this area. There are other establishments as well. Timing is everything. If you can't find parking, sit in the delivery tow zone on the same block. We ended up doing that. When someone pulled off, we drove up into a spot. Yooo this place is seriously the bomb. I'm drooling writing the review the morning after and am also in a depression state knowing there are no leftovers in the fridge. We honestly stumbled upon this place because everything seemed to be already full at capacity (during COVID-19) where we stopped at and were walking to our next potential place to try and dine in at, but saw this one on our way. Walking down Clark looking for a a good dinner spot and you could smell the garlic from the sidewalk. We found a seat at the bar. Our bartender was outstanding. Very engaging and friendly. He was happy to help with a tour of the menu and suggestions as we had neither been to place. I had a margarita which was very sweet. Good as a starter. We tried the fried shrimp, cornbread, and a shrimp boil. The cornbread is awesome slathered in honey butter with evident pieces of jalapeño. The shrimp is served with a Cajun type dipping sauce with a little heat. The shrimp boil in lemon pepper sauce was delicious. Tons of pepper for spice and garlic. I ordered the hot temperature and it has a good heat level. The red potatoes and broccoli were cooked perfectly. This is a big portion. Perfect for sharing. This is a post Covid review: I'm a bit torn writing this review, but decided to proceed in case it helps anyone avoid a dangerous situation. Pre-Covid: 5 stars. Post Covid: 5 stars on food, ZERO STARS on Covid stuff. I tried to order a custom boil to pick up through their online system during the last week of September on a weeknight, it was down, so I called and no one picked up. I ended up driving over and ordering in store. The staff were super kind and useful, however I was horrified to see that the place was fairly crowded and several customers were freely moving throughout the space (Washing hands, visiting other tables, going to the restroom) without masks and with no social distancing. The air circulation was not great (it was pretty warm and muggy) so it especially felt incredibly unsafe. I immediately complained to the server who took my order at the register. It sounded like they do ask folks to wear masks when not at their tables but people don't listen and there was nothing they could do about it. I completely empathized with the server, as so many people react aggressively when asked to wear masks so I imagine trying to enforce that it may feel unsafe to the server team. I haven't realized the situation inside until I started placing my order at the register at the back of the restaurant. Had I known, we probably would have skipped-- my husband and I have been quarantined since March so this is the only situation I've been in where I could have potentially contracted with the virus--it completely freaked me out. I wasn't comfortable waiting inside for my order to be prepared, because of the people without masks, so the server kindly agreed to bring the order out to my car. The food was great, absolutely no complaints there but I will not be back for a pick up order while we are still dealing with an airborne pandemic. While I hope, for everyone's safety, the restaurant figures out an enforcement system regarding customers moving throughout the space unmasked, If you're in a high risk group for a severe reaction to COVID-19, this might not be the best place for you right now. read more

Cajun boil at its best. Visited Lowcountry with my dad and my daughter. We ordered the Snow Crab legs with everything (Cajun, Lemon pepper, and Garlic sauces). I made mine hot with corn, potatoes, and sausage. It was almost too much food - but everything tasted amazing. Once you're seated, you'll go to the counter to put in your order, and they'll bring the boil to you. They'll supply the bib, gloves, and crab shucking tool. Those unfamiliar with this cuisine should just be prepared to spend a decent amount of time cracking open crab or removing shells from your shrimp. Not the best if you have very small children - but very tasty and useful for getting kids to like seafood. The ambiance is reminiscent of a port side restaurant in the bayou, warm and welcoming. This place is amazing! The food is great! If you don't like seafood this probably isn't the best place for you to come to eat. The food is sold at market prices which may seem a little high, however for the combo meals for families/couples, you get a great deal of food for a great price. If you're coming here do yourself a favor and order extra cornbread. It's amazing! The flavor of the food is great and while it's definitely messy it's so worth it. They have cute wash basins to wash your hands after you finish eating. Portion sizes are large as well for ordering a la carte items as well as the combos. First time eaten at this location. Came here with my sister to have dinner. Her friend work there so we came to support. I would say the seafood is fresh and big. The price is reasonable. I like the interior design of the restaurant. Would come back here again. Definitely a good vibe coming in customer service is good. Food comes out quick. read more

Anytime you can get Cajun type Crab/lobster/shrimp hot pot in a volcano looking sauce - take it. I suggest you get that with sides you prefer like corn or potato. There is absolutely nothing wrong with Low country and I would recommend it. I do however prefer the sauce and the sausage at Angry Crab. I grant you the decor, the atmosphere here with the TVs, Fire Place and Bar right dead center makes this place more inviting than any of its competitors. And it's basically in Wrigleyville. So come. What an amazing adventure I had ordering from Lowcountry in Lakeview. The service was awesome. Placing my order over the phone was pleasant. I wished I knew the person's name that was taking orders, but he was so darn cool and funny. Also, my order was ready when I walked in, and I was given the option to purchase a cracker for $2. I thought that was a reasonable price for such a heavy duty cracker. Also, my food was neatly packaged. My drive home was long, and I was worried that my food would be cold, and tasteless, but it was not. The bags are durable, and it keeps the steam in, and the food warm and fresh. I ordered the combo D- Double Double combo for two persons. This order came with headless shrimp, two clusters of crab legs, potatoes, corn, and jalapeño cornbread for $61. I know, I know...spending that much money on take out during a pandemic is ridiculous. However the food was amazing and the price is justifiable. I ordered my boil with the "everythang" flavor (mixture of all the flavors they have on the menu). My crab legs and shrimp were so juicy and flavorful. The potatoes were nice and tender, and my corn on the cob was overcooked. The jalapeño cornbread was finger licking good. I felt like I was eating inside of the restaurant, and I was happy to make the decision and treat myself to some seafood. I didn't know about the amazing customer service, which was a bonus. Otherwise, I plan to visit this location more frequently for my seafood boil cravings. I don't eat seafood often, but the customer service alone is worth the visit. read more
