I've stayed here like 6 or so times now , so I figured I'd write a review, since I obviously like the place lol. I'm very picky with hotels. This hotel is updated, the rooms are spacious, nice and clean. Staff is nice, the refrigerators get cold, no microwaves tho. I haven't used any of the amenities on-site to rate them. The hotel is ok but I have been to better level Marriotts around the country. It's more like a Resident Inn without the benefits of the residents part. $7 water on your room. Other Marriotts offer a bottle or two on my others stays. WiFi is horrible!! Paid $18.95 a day for WiFi that constantly drops and fails for two days. Air in room won't turn off so you get the sound of a 30 year old air system 24x7. I won't stay here again and this particular Marriott is not at the standard of others. The staff for the business suites were excellent and helpful. This was one of the positives. read more

I'll preface this by saying I'm titanium elite with Marriott, which basically means I live in Marriott properties as a second home. I attempted to give this hotel another opportunity after a recent negative experience where they promised to compensate me with 10,000 points and it took 12 follow-ups before anyone ever responded to me. The issue this time revolves around me being blatantly lied to about room availability. I booked a standard room and part of the perk of having status is upgrades upon availability. There were plenty of junior suites available the night in question, but the front desk was guarding them as if their life depended on it. Mind you, this is close to midnight and for one night, so it's not as if they had many opportunities to upsell the rooms. When addressed to management, they weren't very accommodating either and just made more excuses. I'm loyal to Marriott but will choose a better managed property the next time I'm visiting the area. read more

Stayed here for a quick getaway. The room was clean and the Starbucks staff was friendly and fast. If you are making plans to stay here are my suggestions: 1. When booking don't use an outside site. As we were checking in, the woman asked if we were staying for one night. I said can we make it two. She said no because we booked in an outside site. Common sense says, we could have extended, but it would have required her to work. 2. Ask for a room that does not face 88. We heard trucks all night. 3. Don't expect the desk to acknowledge you. As we were leaving, we attempted ask if they had a drop box for keys. Nothing. Said goodbye and still nothing. Marriott in OakBrook could learn from Naperville. read more

I've stayed at this hotel quite a few times in the past months. The customer service here is the worst! During my recent stay I got stuck in the elevator! I was stuck in the elevator with my dog for about 15 minutes. I pressed the emergency button inside the elevator to let them know I was stuck. They told me they were sending someone to get me out. After 10 minutes I tried calling them again and no one would pick up. I literally had to trouble shoot and finally was able to get myself out because no one came to help and my dog was becoming anxious! Once I got to my room I tried calling down to let them know I had gotten out. Still no answer! I finally went down to the front desk and talked them about the situation and they didn't offer me anything! Not a meal voucher , drink at the bar or Starbucks. NOTHING! Needless to say, I won't be staying at this hotel anymore after such a horrible experience. read more

Beautiful hotel and comfy updated room. Not sure why so many people are saying the rooms are dated because mine is not. I'm on the 12th floor and perhaps they're renovating from the top down, I dunno but my review is based on my experience from check-in to room comfortability, amenities and overall satisfaction which is so far, exceptional. At check-in, Jenna was very friendly, welcoming and helpful. She answered my questions and was pleasant to interact with. Got to the room and I enjoyed how clean it was. While it's snowing outside and I cannot walk across the street to the mall, the hotel provides a long list of restaurants with several types of cuisine. I'm not sure how many of them deliver but it's a good resource. Or, you can dine at their in house restaurant. Honestly, I like the hotel and would definitely recommend as a Bonvoy elite member. read more

Stayed here after several years and recommend. Since my last stay, it looked like they had refurbished and updated rooms. I had a standard room and it was clean, comfortable and with great sleep quality (9th floor). Staff was very friendly, and when I checked in pretty early given my arrival to the area they got me right into my room. Common areas were clean, and they have a full Starbucks off of the main lobby area. Proximity to Oak Brook Center is walkable. read more

The rooms and bathrooms are a little dated - obvious this is an older hotel that hasn't been renovated in at least 5-10 years .... However for a quick weekend as a Bonvoy member it wasn't too bad. If I had been paying full price for this room instead of sharing and splitting it with 3 friends ... as well as being the venue for the event we attended, I would have given 2 stars. $16 buffet style breakfast was really (in my opinion) on par with the complimentary breakfasts received at other Marriott locations. read more

It is 1am CT/2am ET as I lay here in a smelly and loud room. I am on the 12th floor and hear the sound of the freeway as if the traffic was taking place inside my hotel room. It's clear that the room was not cleaned (specks of red found all over the furniture and floor), towels were not replaced (hair found on towel that is definitely not mine), but I was too tired to request a room change. I am kicking myself for that awful decision because the sound of the freeway will keep me awake all night. Avoid this place like the plague. read more

This Marriott is blessed with a great location right across from Oakbrook Center. There are tons of businesses nearby & the mall has a ton of dining & shopping choices. The actual property is pretty dated though - my room was clean and comfortable but worn. The bathroom in particular was really cramped. In terms of amenities there's a workout room and a bar/restaurant (didn't try). Wifi is pay and rather expensive at $15/day - it's free for Marriott Bonvoy members so sign up! There is a shuttle that drops you at the mall as well. Despite being a middle of the road property, I'd stay again due to the convenient location. read more

Honestly, it's probably more of a 2.75 star stay. I usually bounce between a handful of hotels when I'm in the area and honestly, Marriott needs to seriously start evaluating the Oakbrook/Naperville area, as many of the properties are in need of an update. Highlights/Tips: +Location: Right across from the Oakbrook Mall, as well close to many of the business and restaurants in the area. * Expect to pay for Wifi if you don't have status + The Concierge Lounge really isn't a lounge as others have mentioned. Like many other hotels, it closes after breakfast on Fridays and opens at 5:30 PM on Sundays. +Rooms- The TVs are updated, but everything beyond that can use a refresh + Shuttle- offers rides to the mall or restaurants in the area +Hertz rental car rental onsite +Gym/Pool - Decent gym with variety of equipment beyond the typical treadmills and bikes. The pool is rather large compared to other hotels with a small area in the shallow area with a bench to sit back and enjoy the cool water. The whirlpool is separate and large as well. It has a bath load of 12. The chairs around the pool need updating, as do the towels read more

Well I won't recommend this to anyone this place is bad they take money 2 times from my bank account why don't know I ask for help at the desk and they told me the manager be here tomorrow they told me that 2 times plus the first room I got was 533 was not cleaned I bring one of the pillows to a lady the was cleaning in the lobby she told me I won't touch that take to the from the desk so I when there they give me another room, not my money but another room 633 was problems as well but was clean at least I drive for 12 hours to get here and have the inconvenience I have not come here i put a picture of my last room. read more

Was here for a conference and it was a decent time. The conference portion was well done. Rooms were at a moderate temperature and the food they had for lunch, breakfast and breaks was very good! The public areas of the hotel are nice and look modern and up to date. It's conveniently located across from the Oak Brook mall so if you're stranded here (because it's not close to transit or downtown Chicago) you can go there for varied dining and shopping experiences. The gym had a good selection of treadmills, ellipticals and free weights. The room was very worn and outdated. Although it was clean, the furniture was scratched and dented and the bathroom was tiny, with fixtures falling off the wall. People working there were nice. It's a good place, they just need to update their rooms. read more

To put this in context, I am a Marriott Titanium Elite Member and have over 900 nights stayed with Marriott. I have had amazing experiences with Marriott in the past. This is by far the worst experience I have had. I was trying to book a room with a Hotel Room Block Rate as we are having a meeting close by. I spent over 30 minutes and six calls and was still not able to book my room. They kept transferring me to the 1-800 reservation number where they couldn't help me. Then they transferred me to Sales, when sales answered they transferred me back to the operator. They were also rude during this. My advice would be to actually try and help someone book a room and not treat me as I am a burden. read more

Great location and average hotel. Property is ok and could have been 3.5 stars but does not have a Concierage Lounge and utilizes downstairs space on the first floor. The location certainly helps make up for it with Oakbrook Center across the street with great restaurant options. I have Platinum Elite status with Marriott and this is the worst experience I've had in over a year staying at a Marriott for business travel 60+ nights a year. I checked in on the mobile app and selected to have my room cleaning service every day of my 3 night stay. I was patient the first night when I came back to my room after working from 5:30AM till 8:00pm to find my room not cleaned. I thought maybe it was a mistake or they missed cleaning my room. Tonight I get back at 8:00pm and find my room in the same condition. Not happy so I call the front desk to complain and got an attitude from the front desk person saying that I have to request service when I check in. Well they never told me about this lame policy when I checked in. I told the person that I selected the button on the app to have my room cleaned when I did the mobile check in so why didn't they pay attention to it? They also didn't pay attention to my profile request for a feather free room and I had to call down to request they remove the feather pillows and replace with foam pillows because of my allergies. Shaking my head at the lack of care and no attention to detail that this property has shown me on my first stay here. I usually stay at the Marriott right across the street from my corporate office but I heard that this one was better, not in my opinion. I never got treated like this at the Naperville Marriott. Don't mean to sound fussy but hotels aren't cheap and for them to expect not to clean the room the rate should be cut in half. Anyway they tried to compensate me with drink tickets, I told them I don't drink but maybe I should start. Stay elsewhere folks, that's my recommendation, there are too many choices out there for good lodging, you don't need to settle on a property where they don't need you or care about your comfort or business. read more

Place was a mob scene over the weekend with a dance competition and hockey team. The staff were obnoxious and rude. The Marriott Club looked as if it had been ransacked and there was never cream for coffee from the machine. No water in the club room either. Just coffee and Mountain Dew! The room I was in smelled moldy. A friend was in a room where someone had peed on the shower curtain and housekeeping had not cleaned it. I will never stay here again let alone recommend it to friends. read more

The lobby is nice and modern, but the rooms are very dirty and outdated with crunchy carpets. TV was big, but would have been nice if the remote worked. No Wi-Fi, housekeeping, pool or gym. We have stayed with Marriott multiple times and this was by far the worst and most disappointing. I gave it 2 stars because parking was free, it was cheap and the room was clean. I gave it 2 stars before we stayed here for multiple days and there was no housekeeping, we had no keyes to our room-we had to ask the front desk to escort us up to our room every time we needed to enter it-and there was banging someone working on top of our room early in the morning which had us wake up first thing. I stayed at this hotel for about 3-4 months while in town on business travel. The hotel itself is maybe a 3.5...a little dated but clean (at least most of the time, I've had some off-stays), very small bathroom, really comfortable beds and bedding (love the pillows!) The price is decent, there is free parking and the parking lot is big. They have automatic front doors which is a plus - I am surprised at how many upscale properties don't have this, as I struggle to open the doors or squeeze through the manual turnstile with my 3 suitcases in tow...lol. Right across the street from the mall and tons of good restaurants (Ditka's, MJs, Wildfire, and other great places at the mall). Definitely try to get a room on the "quieter" side of the hotel that doesn't face the highway. The concierge lounge on the 1st floor serves complimentary breakfast to members, as well as appetizers in the evening, and dessert around 7:30. The food offerings here are usually nothing to get excited about, honestly I've had MUCH better evening appetizers at the concierge lounge in the Westin down the street. The lady who does the omelets in the morning is not as friendly, but she gets the job done. One thing they could improve upon is the food - the fruit is usually not ripe or it's old looking, and they serve the same exact things for breakfast every morning - boiled eggs, oatmeal, scrambled eggs, bacon, potatoes, pastries, the same fruit, cereal. I do like the little yogurt fruit parfaits they make in the morning - tasty! But what really makes this property stand out is the staff - the front desk staff are friendly, helpful, and nice, the lady that works in the concierge lounge in the morning is awesome, and the night concierge lounge lady is just as friendly, helpful and sweet as can be. The on-site Starbucks is a plus, but the rooms look like they have not been updated since the 80s and the gym is inadequate (over 50% of machines not working, lack of barbells, etc). It's a Marriott. It's in the suburbs. It's where I attend plenty of meetings. And it's one of the hotels closest to my office where I put people when our company hotel is booked. The sleeping rooms are functional and have nice linens- duvets on the beds and coverlets and linens that welcome you at the end of a long day. The bathrooms have the requisite marble topped counter and dark wood trim. And like all Marriott's- the rooms are set up for the business traveler with a large desk that has plenty of places to plug in and get your work done. And since we get a corporate rate- the prices are actually quite reasonable to stay here. The meeting rooms off of the lobby were also updated during the recent remodel of the entire hotel. My only complaint is that they are ALWAYS freezing but that is to be expected in hotels. Banquet food is at par with other hotels in the area and the service staff are friendly and accommodating. If you are looking for that morning pickup- the only Starbucks in the area is located off the front of the hotel on the east side. There is even separate parking for it. Another quick tip if you ever need a bottled beverage or a rest room in the area (because of the amount of office buildings in the area- there are no convenience stores along this stretch of 22nd Street) is that just inside the west entrance of the hotel is a small store and restrooms which are convenient to pop into and get in and out. That is also where the Hertz rental car location is for Oak Brook. But the Oak Brook Marriott's best feature has to be it's close proximity to the Oak Brook Mall across the street. The only downside is that walking to the mall is a bit of a challenge as Oak Brook is built for cars and sidewalks are in short supply. The Oak Brook Marriott is not ever going to be a luxury resort- after all- it's in Oak Brook. But if you are a business traveler who is looking for a solid hotel choice while in the area- the Oak Brook Marriott should fit the bill just fine! read more

**WEDDING-RELATED REVIEW** I researched several wedding venues before choosing the Marriott in Oak Brook. I felt like this hotel offered a good balance between quality and price. At first glance: Although the exterior looks fairly old, the interior of the hotel is surprisingly modern. The lobby has a decent sized sitting area with a few TVs, and there is a Starbucks attached as well. I was actually really surprised at how spacious and beautiful the ballroom was compared to the exterior of the hotel. Service: Our sales manager was wonderful. She was very negotiable on the cost per plate and included several complimentary additions to our wedding package. Our event manager and I got off to a rocky start at the beginning. She didn't respond to our emails or messages in a timely manner, and we were told months after the signed contract that there was another event taking place in our ballroom right before our wedding. Even though we were upset that we had to revise the timing of our wedding day, we were able to move past this conflict, and her level of service improved drastically after our confrontation. As our wedding day approached, we felt that she was always there to answer our questions, very accommodating, and understanding. The Wedding: The service provided by the hotel before and on our wedding day was flawless. Our event manager was there during our rehearsal to gain an understanding of how our ceremony will run. She always made sure that I had everything I needed and constantly checked up on me to make sure I wasn't overwhelmed or too stressed. The food was much better than other the food I've had at other weddings, and so many of my guests have agreed. The procession of events, vendor setup, and ballroom turnover was seamless. Everything flowed so smoothly, and we were extremely happy with how it all turned out. I would definitely recommend the Marriott as a wedding venue, especially if you're looking for a good balance between cost and quality of the hotel. read more

We used this Marriott for ourselves and our wedding guests when we got married at Brookfield Zoo in June 2009. It was the closest, nicest hotel to the Zoo AND I had an awesome experience with the group reservations representative. I was totally sold. They gave us a group rate of (I believe) $119 a night. We had ZERO problems checking in. ZERO problems with any of our guests checking in. They upgraded my husband and I to a suite for FREE. Come to think of it, I don't even think we paid for our room. I think it might have even come for free with the 15 room reservation. Man... we only spent about 6 hours in that suite all together but man... that was a sweet suite. Get it? Sigh. Anyways, yes... very nice suite. Two flat screen TVs. A sitting area. a King sized bed. A dining table. Too bad we partied til 5am and had to be up at 8 otherwise we could have used it more... Some of the wedding party with adjoining rooms threw us a post reception party and the hotel staff were SO NICE. I cannot believe how kind they were to us. We got complained about four times and they would just come up, tell us to keep it down (mind you, there were like 30 people between the two rooms) and then leave. Thankfully, most of our floor were wedding guests so it's not like we were disturbing the whole hotel. They could have easily busted it up and sent us on our way (we had a Plan B... muaaahhhh hahaha) but they didn't. My sister and mother in-law checked into the hotel about 5 days before the wedding and they were given the wedding rate for the entire week. Super nice. The buffet breakfast in the morning was a life saver. That grease kept me fortified until it was time to doll up and get ready for Reception #2: The Chinese side of the Family. I stayed here while business travelling. it's a good hotel and is as advertised. The front desk was nice and allowed me to check in early as my plan arrived earlier that day. The room was quiet and comfy. bathroom clean, what more do you want? Their is a starbux attached and a nice restaurant. There was some delicious homemade pickles being service (and I'm not a pickle lover) that the server said was a secret recipe. Oh, and there was a good hotel bar and also some tables and chairs outside when the weather is nice or if you have a smoker in your party. Hotel once you leave lobby is outdated. That is my negative. We were slated to stay here two nights ride to Michigan then go to another hotel Sunday night. This hotel matched the lower rate and will hold our luggage until we return. Nice pool and hot tub. The exercise equipment was all working. Now for your frequent Marriott users this hotel is special. Concierge is part of the restaurant so it is on the lobby floor, and is all you can eat breakfast buffet. The staff is very nice, making conversation if you like, or leaving you in peace. The rooms are clean, bathrooms small, but does the job. More importantly there is a Starbucks also in the hotel. High end shopping if you go across the street.
