The Italian beef was really good! I did wish the whole thing was dipped instead of the au jus on the side. If you are a true Chicagoan you would want extra au jus. The cheese fries are the best compared to anything in the area. We also got the Philly cheesesteak and that was really good too. The mozzarella sticks are decent not the best. You order at the counter and sit down and they bring the food to you when it's ready. There's a lot of Chicago-esque themed decor inside and makes you feel like you're in Chicago . They advertise a char burger but have no way to actually char the burger. It's a burger on the flat top and not too good. The gyros are very good and their pizza is very good. Adding another star. Why? Well, they deserve it. Been traveling to the area from up north once a year and this is the first place my wife and I stop at each and every time. This year, I packed up an additional Italian beef to bring home. Even as a re heat it's still awesomely delicious! My wife always gets the Chicago dog and we split both fries and onion rings. You can also purchase some of their condiments if you want to make it "Chicago style" at home. First, I'm a Chicago native transplanted to the Pacific Northwest. I was in Denver for business and craving an Italian beef, so looked on Yelp and gave Mike's a try. Now, none of the spots in the Seattle area that claim to do Italian beef do it well by my standards. Mike's. Hits. Hard. The beef was tender and flavorful, with the perfect bread (very important). Served with a side of au jus that was perfect: not too salty, just naturally beefy umami deliciousness. Their giardinera was perfect too, had just enough heat but didn't overdo it. Came here with a friend for lunch in the middle of the week. The space is super inviting and has all the "Chicago smells". The menu is extensive with so many tasty options making it difficult to decide (will just have to come back). The gal at the ordering counter was super nice and helpful with questions. I've got to say, I did not know what to expect here. Boy am I glad we went in here!!! I got the chili cheese dog, my dad got the Italian beef sandwich and my kiddo got the hot dog. The fries and onion rings were our sides and they were both delicious! The fries had a crisp and weren't soggy, just right! The onion rings had a delicious batter and the onions were just right. The Italian beef is packed with meat and the vegetables were fresh! The chili cheese dog was smothered to perfection and the Vienna beef hot dogs cooked perfectly and have that distinct taste. We got a special pizza to go, and we were in awe when we got home! The ingredients and crust are perfect! We will definitely be back for our weekly pizza nights now, no more big chain no flavor pizzas. The interior was clean, well kept and welcoming with hand sanitizer by the order counter. Beef and juice were ok, not sure where they get the reddish meat they are calling Italian sausage and they had no peppers. Had a craving for a Chicago beef sandwich and Mike's hit the spot. If you're looking for Al's, you aren't going to find it here. The beef here is thicker and less flavorful, and they don't dunk the sandwiches in gravy. The hot peppers are so hot they over power the sandwich, I will not order hot again.....but mixed peppers with an extra side of gravy and I'm good to go! After asking the difference between the regular and jumbo (same length but jumbo is more plump), I went jumbo. I wish I had ordered regular. I couldn't finish the hotdog and ended up taking it out of the bun. Plus the didn't have the crunch I was expecting. I'd definitely order it again just not jumbo. I loved that I was able to order on Yelp and pick up within 20-30 mins while finishing my shopping across the street at Walmart! Wish more restaurants and eateries would include this quick and easy service! Who likes to phone in orders anymore. My food was ready when I arrived. I ordered the Pastrami and Italian Beef sandwiches. Both were good and fresh. Although I probably wouldn't order the pastrami again. It was a bit dry and the mustard was overpowering to my liking.
