Marco's has some great pizza toppings and sauce but the crust is so disappointing for a place that specializes in coal fired pizza. We started with the "focaccia" which is just a baffling item. This is just some pizza crust with just some light seasoning on there. I didn't even take any pictures because it didn't look anything like a focaccia and the server just threw it on the table without saying anything. I thought it was just some extra crust they gave us to hold us over till the real focaccia came out. They give you no sauce with it and it isn't a focaccia. It is crisp, dry, and thin. This shouldn't even be served under this moniker. Could be improved with some EVOO on top or some sides of sauce. There are two different categories of pizza they serve here, New York and Napoletana. The differences here are just in the toppings, with toppings reflected in their names origin. There is no difference in the crust which are classically different from each other. The Mulberry Street had meatballs and ricotta which was fantastic. The meatballs are some of the best I've had on a pizza and it works so well with the ricotta. The Toscana is massively topped with arugula, prosciutto, pecorino, and tomatoes. I really liked the prosciutto pecorino combination with the added freshness of the arugula but there was just so much on there it felt like the ratio was a bit off as some bites would just be all prosciutto or all arugula. The sauce is very good. Tastes very fresh and sweet and complements the salty toppings. The crust is my main issue with the pizzas here. The crust is extremely thin in the middle and because of how thin it is, it cannot support the weight of all the toppings. I had to two hand every slice of a 12" pizza otherwise the toppings would fall off. The crust is not crispy, just so soft that it adds nothing good to the pizza. The crust cannot support the toppings they want to put on the pizza. The crust edge is fine as there is a good amount of char on the edges that you would expect from a coal fired pizza place. Servers took a while to get around to us and took some time to get our pizza but it was busy so nothing too bad. Absolute scum to put a 4% surcharge for the staff, just raise prices instead of adding on a fee to deliberately mislead customers on how much they will be paying. I think there are some great flavor and topping combinations served here that you can get some descent pizza. The crust being unequipped for the toppings makes it so much harder to recommend. The "focaccia" is the most insulting thing to be served at a restaurant and should be renamed with an added sauce or just removed off the menu. read more

Wow wow wow. Just moved from Reno and I was sad missing my favorite wood fired pizza. We found this place and OH MY GOSH!!! Husband got the Brooklyn pizza and is still talking about it three weeks later. Their ranch was fire too. They had a great IPA for him which is a must when eating out. I got the Tiramisu martini which was so tasty. The star for me was the Del Rey pizza. WHOAH. The truffle cream still has me on the hook, and the fresh arugula on top sent it over the edge and off to the moon. The place was really clean with a great aesthetic, you can see the wood fired ovens right when you walk in. Stopped by for a pizza knowing it was wood baked unlike Jets pizza which is my favorite. I had eaten earlier and I just wanted a slice. We wound up splitting the lunch special and got a 9 inch and a bowl of soup for $12. The Napoleon pizza was very thin and it was hard to eat because it was so thin. It tasted great but, I prefer a New York or Detroit' most days. It came with a tomato soup was great and the service was terrific. It was a great snack is all I'm saying. read more

came here just for the nutella pizza which is to die for. the garlic nuggets really threw me off. i was hoping they'd be like garlic knots but there was just air inside and some were crispy and some weren't. don't recommend those. the margherita pizza was great. we also got the snickerdoodle martini's which were good. the service was good. it was slow when we came. the ambiance and vibe of the restaurant i think ruins the food at this specific location. the denver location has good lighting and makes it feel more upscale. this location makes the food feel cheap even though it's not just like a "fast food" vibe. read more

This was my second visit here and the pizza just does not disappoint. I love a good coal fired pizza and theirs is just so good! We had the Margherita pizza and the Del Re. We had the Del Re the last time we came and it was so good we had to get it again. We also ordered a large Caesar salad which was pretty standard. The bread and Parmesan shavings were great. Service was great, but the pizza did take a bit to come out. We chose to sit outside on the patio because the weather was so beautiful. The patio was clean and plenty of umbrellas to block the sun. It's not like this place needs another review but here goes. The pizza roll appetizer (things?) are amazing... MAYBE the best thing on the menu. The pizza itself is very good but ours might've been a little soggy because of how we ordered the toppings. The service was fast and friendly and refills were quick. The interior is pretty casual, but does deliver high-end food. The only issue with this place, like many others, is parking. We were lucky to get a spot right out front but if you're not there to get one of those basically five spots it's going to be a bit of trouble. We'll be back for sure! read more

Marco's is still one of my top five favorite pizza places in Denver! It is consistently delicious made with really high-quality ingredients and the customer service has always been great. I appreciate that they usually have some new additions to their menu. I tend to go back to the old favorites, like the pistachio pizza which can't be beat if you enjoy pesto flavors along with sausage! My husband tried the Sicilia and it was tasty as well. We've had Marco's Coal Fired on our radar for a while, and finally decided to give it a try on Father's Day. Came in around 11:30 and they were not busy at all. We had heard that the pizza is the star of the show so decided to get three different pizza's to try & share. We went with the Brooklyn (sweet Italian sausage, pepp, red onions, basil, evoo), the Hell's Kitchen (spicy salami, hot coppa, basil evoo) and the Williamsburg special (pepp, basil pesto, basil & hot honey drizzle). Each of them we got extra crispy/well done crust. All of the pizzas were good...but the standout was the Williamsburg. The flavor of the basil pesto combined with the other ingredients made all the difference. So many layers of flavor. The other pizzas were good...but not OMG great. The Brooklyn would be better if we had left the mushrooms on as the menu intends...but the two of us that like mushrooms were outnumbered by the others :/ I think we will go back again to check out their lunch special or 1/2 off margherita pizzas on Tuesdays...but to be honest I think we enjoyed their pizzas at their sister restaurant Dough Counter a little bit more. read more

We got the Margherita and the Williamsburg; the Margherita was pretty lackluster, but the Williamsburg was good! The focaccia wasn't really focaccia - just more of a thinner spiced breadstick, nice to try but nothing special. The staff were extremely kind, the food comes out marked GF, and they have an entire dedicated oven and prep tools for GF which was AMAZING and SO uncommon for GF pizza places. Wow! I tried something different this time! Wanted a salad and Bri made an amazing recommendation. I had the pizzeria salad for lunch and it hit the spot. We arrived promptly at our 11:00 reservation. It was not necessarily needed, but after about 20 minutes, they were a bit busy. The restaurant was lit with tinted windows. The booths seemed to help with noise level as well. Unfortunately, there was only was server taking care of the multiple tables - not enough especially since the kitchen seemed to be preparing pizzas non-stop and it seemed it was also the server's job to slice all of them. We ordered the Brooklyn and Hell's Kitchen pies. We were hoping for leftovers, but both were delicious, and the dough was pretty thin, making it easy for us to finish both of them for lunch. The meats on both were fantastic - above the bar. Now, I just have to find out the name / brand of those meats and to head back to try The Butcher. Marco's Coal Fired. Another well-deserved Top 50 Denver Restaurant Pick. As most of you will come to know, pizza just isn't my thing, but I'll indulge in a thin crust pie from time to time. First off, the interior is large and is great for bigger parties. They even have a big room in the back, probably for hosting parties and bigger events. I love the bold green and the many different seat selections. The service was good, a little slow, but I think that our waitress was working the entire floor by herself. No biggy, especially since she had a great attitude and was super busy. Marco's has a decent selection of specialty pizzas, along with soups, salads, sandwiches and house specials. They even have gluten free crust for an extra charge. Yelp check in offer? Let's get it! With an order of a specialty pizza, you get a 12" Margherita pizza for free. I'll take it! Let me just say, thin crust is my fave, so when I saw these babies come out, let's just say I was stoked. The crust was cooked perfectly and the margherita pizza was just right for my liking, although it didn't have actual chunks of tomato. The other ones that we ordered had no shortage of toppings and were excellent as well. The one thing I will say about the Sicilia was there was an overload of ricotta, other than that, it's a delicious specialty pizza. Yeah, these pies are big, but somehow we managed to put them all away. They're that good! Decided to try a dessert since I got a free pizza. Vanilla Bean Panna Cotta. I've never tried panna cotta before, and I must say it was quite underwhelming and lackluster. I wish that they had put more strawberry glaze to even out the bland panna cotta.
