I had nothing but very negative reviews in the past because I was being honest about my past experiences with this dealership. I just wanted to come back on here after our most recent service and leave a better review. They got rid of a lot of the people I had problems with and it honestly feels like things here improved a lot! I'm also writing this review to say that Jocelyn Nava is our go to service agent. Working with her is always pleasant because she truly displays great customer service skills. I'm glad to see that she still works here and a lot of the people who exuded bad energy are gone. The manager called me after my visit. I was confused about the Toyota care package and Peter explained all the details. He was informative and polite. I had ordered my car from an out of state dealership and the time that it was on the site counted as the Toyota care package started. This was not Northside Toyota's fault or really anyone's fault. My garage was being worked on and needed 2 more months to be completed. I would definitely go back to Northside they are professional and reliable. I am starting to lose faith in this dealership and will stop coming here once my service contract is up. I already have some reservations with this place because of their owners questionable political leanings (feel free to google him), but the thing that kept me in the contract was the service work that they did. That ended today. I came in and somehow left with over $400 in charges to fix up my car. While this might be small potatoes to most, I do have a service contract. On top of that, they charge for "shop supplies" and have a 3% credit card fee. I asked them to explain "shop supplies" and they really couldn't. Since I had to get to work and didn't want to argue over $38, I accepted it this time. They used to be really hands on with the customers and really walk them through the process so that everybody felt valued. I saw the Rep once when I walked in and she just went through the motions. No more updates, texts, anything. From now on, I will be bringing my car in for oil changes only. I will not be spending another cent more. If the will refund me the remaining part of my contract, I will go to the Toyota dealership a little closer to my house that is not part of this group. read more

Wow. All of these reviews make total sense. I bought my 2026 Toyota Tacoma from Chicago Northside Toyota, and this has easily been one of the most frustrating dealership experiences I have ever had. The paint damage appeared during a routine car wash with manual sprayer and in researching the issue I found similar concerns reported by other owners of recent white Tacomas. The truck only had 600 miles. I went to the dealership expecting help, honesty, and some level of customer support. Instead, I was pushed off, sent through layers of bureaucracy, and treated like the dealership wanted nothing to do with me unless corporate Toyota paid for everything. That was the clear impression the entire time. What makes this worse is that another Toyota dealership that had no prior relationship with me was more willing to help than the dealership that actually sold me the truck and took my money for warranties and service contracts. That says a lot. Northside Toyota's communication was poor, their handling of the issue felt defensive, and at no point did I feel like they were truly advocating for me as their customer. Everything felt centered on avoiding cost and responsibility rather than trying to do the right thing. If you are buying a vehicle, especially an expensive new one, understand this: the real test of a dealership is not when they are trying to sell you a car. The real test is how they treat you when something goes wrong. In my experience, Chicago Northside Toyota failed that test badly. I would not recommend this dealership, and I would strongly encourage others to think carefully before trusting them with a vehicle purchase, warranty issue, or long-term service relationship. Today I had accompanied my friend who was looking to purchase a car and was extremely disappointed in the experience we were given. Mohammed was our salesman and I will say as two women in our early twenties this is not the place. He had expected an easy sale apparently and when I had asked about the title, previous service, and pro pac etc. his entire demeanor changed. He began to be agitated and belittling, as if he assumed we would have no knowledge in this topic. I am a law student and my friend is in finance so we have an understanding of deals as well as researched cars. The manager then came over and told us he was giving us a great deal, he proceeded to only take the optional warranty off, and when I acknowledged that he said that I had "no filter" and told us to "go try to find a better deal in the span of 500 miles". Spoiler alert, we did. If I could give 0 starts I would. I would definitely recommend going to another dealership as this one clearly thrives off of sexist 1950's ideals. read more

They are not transparent in any way - they only let you have quick test drives, they move the vehicle so you can't go back and look at it and they push VERY hard for their warranties. **they lie and say that the warranty and packages are installed in the vehicle so you can't purchase without the warranty, that is against the law!! they can't force you to buy a warranty. Also, they don't do carfax they do experian which is terrible and does not contain as much information. Their 180 point inspection, or whatever number, is also terrible and mine was one half page and it was just the things that needed to be replaced. They closed the checklist and didn't complete those items! I drove over 600 miles round trip and they forgot 2 things for my vehicle and won't ship those parts to me. They want me to drive back to the dealership just for them to do it even though they're the ones who screwed up. Also, my vehicle has TWO open recalls and they didn't take care of either of them through the manufacturer. Overall I feel like it was a bad experience and our sales person wasn't helpful. Last thing, it took a million years to get out of there! We knew exactly which vehicle we wanted to test drive and within 30 minutes of being there we were ready to start the paperwork. We have great credit and had a down payment ready, and it took over four hours for us to leave the dealership. I just had $3,000 worth of work done to my car, added added an extra $90 to my bill. I wouldn't recommend buying a car from here. I went in on Friday to look at a Corolla Cross and a RAV4. The salesman and sales manager lied to me and said they have none of those cars in stock for test drive when you can clearly see they have them in stock online. The salesman took me out and a used Corolla cross we barely left the dealership when he was already telling me to head back I had to stress that I wanted to drive a little more. How do you sell cars if you can't test drive them. They just don't want you touching their inventory because it may devalue the vehicle after I left the dealer I gladly called Toyota to complain about their dealership. Been told for years to never go to an OEM dealership with maintenance and repairs after the warrenty expired. Mainly due to the inflated charges and the fact they ALWAYS find something new that's "critical" and will cost $800-1k to fix... every time I go in... Foolishly, I just brushed it off for years and kept going to the OEM dealership. But I no longer go to the dealership for maintenance after years of being screwed with suspiciously inflated quotes (like $600+ to replace a $15 part). I've found a local independent dealer that won't push me to get unnecessary repairs and will give it to me straight. And offer a FAIR repair or service quote. Do yourself a favor and find an independent mechanic or shop. You'll no longer go in for maintenance and anxiously worry "what will they find wrong this time that I cannot afford." read more

Let's start by saying I've been a faithful customer since 2010, so 16 years now, and during that time I've been keeping up maintenance religiously, bringing it in as expected every 5000 miles or 6 months. Now their business must be down because they called me to schedule service even though that service is not yet due. They're now claiming it's every 5 months, not 6. *** Unethical and unlawful tying - "to earn extra margin" (their words) this dealership requires purchasing unwanted warranty products in order to purchase in-demand vehicles *** I recently purchased a new Grand Highlander Hybrid from Chicago Northside Toyota. After test driving the vehicle, I told the salesperson that I'd like to purchase it. He returned with an order showing the MSRP and several other "required" items like taxes, registration fees, etc. Among these required items was a line for the Pro Pack extended warranties. The Pro Pack extended warranty package cost $1,995. I informed the salesperson that I wanted to purchase the vehicle, but did not want this Pro Pack extended warranty package. I was told that, in order to purchase the vehicle, I had to purchase these warranties. The sales manager (Evan Shaje) came over and told me that "on high demand vehicles, we require people to purchase these warranties. It's our way of making extra margin." I repeatedly told him I was frustrated that I was being forced to purchase unwanted warranty products in order to purchase the vehicle. Ultimately, I did sign the paperwork for the purchase because the vehicle is what I wanted for my family. Upon researching this experience, I learned that I was a victim of unlawful tying that is illegal under the Illinois Consumer Protection laws. read more

08/30/23 - Go figure I go to this big ass 5 story Toyota dealer/service on Western Ave just south of Peterson to go look at a 2021 Honda Accord. I went to see a 2021 Honda Accord that they had listed on the internet. I had a 2011 6 cylinder Honda Accord that was just shy of 205,000 miles. I loved that car but it was time. After an exhaustive search I found the car I wanted. It's not brand new but pretty dam close w16,000 miles in it. Well I've been on the market for a car to replace my 2011 6 cylinder Honda Accord. This car has served me well w/205,000 miles but was sending me signs like constantly needing repairs. So I started the search looking until I found the right car. I ended buying another Honda Accord but this time I bought 2021 Honda Accord w/16,000 miles, almost new. Neither Honda or Toyota make the 6 cylinder car anymore but I bought a 2.0L w/252 HP & an Automatic transmission NOT the Continuously Variable Transmission or CVT which can have problems like overheating, slippage, loss of acceleration and can be quite expensive to repair. The car I bought is beautiful but I miss my 2011 V6 Honda Accord. Time will tell if this replacement will live up to my old Accord. It's a nice car but not quite the juice &!acceleration of my V6. read more

When I can get better customer service at Chic-fil-A that says a lot. This location sends me multiple flyers in the mail attempting to get my business for routine maintenance. And then when I show up for something minor, I'm left to wait standing awkwardly in front of several counters of agents. I realized they were busy and attending to phone calls and other customers, but like Apple stores have a greeter who takes your name and place you in a queue, perhaps this dealership could manage customer intake with greater clarity and concern. I attempted to call to make an appointment the day before but no one picked up the phone so I decided to stop in. I wouldn't have minded waiting but at least take the time to say hello. read more

Carlos Gamora was awesome and communicated with us through the whole process. He worked with us and our busy schedules and we didn't get any of the annoying high pressure sales tactics that you get with so many car dealerships. Carlos was great and personable and I'd buy a car from him again in a heartbeat. Nick Howell in finance was also incredibly personable and transparent with everything. He explained things in detail and had our best interest in mind with showing us what packages suited our situation best . Overall had a great experience. Everyone at the dealership is very nice and welcoming and they even have a really nice little kids section with toys and a tv with kids shows to help families out when they have to wait for a service. Just like any other dealer I have learned they are there looking out for themselves and nobody else. It's all about you knowing what goes into the bill at the end and seeing how high the interests you will be paying. Feel free to do your own research because you will get robbed blindly. I'm not saying for this dealership specifically, im saying for ALL. It's rare to find an honest one but I recommend going out in the far suburbs in my opinion. Last year I accompanied my mother to buy a vehicle from here all went well I loved our sales lady it was one of the best experiences we had with dealerships. Recently both my mother and I have taken our cars separately to get serviced, if you're not in dire need of maintenance go elsewhere. Since we got the vehicle there has been an employee in specific that has been rude and condescending not to mention entitled. When I took my car in not only did he get on a phone call while I was in front of him he spoke to me in a condescending manner that ensures I will never be taking my vehicle back. If you take your car here I recommend you avoid Ryan and get it serviced with any other technician. As an "assistant service manager" this behavior is unacceptable and it's honestly sad that I spoke to strangers who told me they had the same experience with him and it was always a bad experience when they had to service with Ryan. read more

I have not been to a Toyota dealership in over 6+ years. And the reason I stopped going was due to how high the cost was. I was not wrong going to north side Toyota. I thought maybe being that this service shop was about 2 miles from where I am I would be wrong. I was just in for an oil change and tire rotation and I waited over 2.5 hours. I learned that in the middle of the shift the service associate that checked me in disappeared and no one could find him. A different service associate helped get me checked out. It was saw that no one really attempted to talk to me. I was really disappointed as well since I booked online and did not get the credit for the $5 off which the website says I should have been given. The first time I visited this service center, it was regarding a non-functional rear parking light (passenger side) on my 2023 Toyota Sienna LE. I dropped off the vehicle, and they told me the issue had been fixed by replacing the bulb. I was charged $84.15, which included: * Labor: $15 * Parts (bulb): $56 * Shop supplies: $7.13 * Sales tax: $5.77 I left, trusting that the problem had been resolved. But when I got home, I immediately realized that nothing had been fixed -- the light still didn't work. As a result, I had to cancel all of my travel plans for several days, as I couldn't drive safely with a malfunctioning light. I scheduled a second appointment. I arrived at 8:00 AM and wasn't out until 1:00 PM -- 5 hours of waiting. When I dropped off the car, they simply asked me to sign in two places, without clearly explaining that I was agreeing to pay for a diagnostic service. I was never informed verbally that I would be charged $184.99 just to have the issue looked at, with no guarantee of resolution. Later, I was told the issue was corrosion on the connector pins, and I was quoted $800 to replace the part -- a small plastic connector. That price felt wildly inflated. What made the situation even worse was that I have an active Toyota extended warranty that I purchased for nearly $6,000, which supposedly covers the vehicle bumper-to-bumper. Yet this situation -- a clear mechanical/electrical issue -- was not covered at all. When I declined the repair, I was still charged the $184.99 diagnostic fee. The charge was buried in the paperwork I had quickly signed, trusting the service center since I had previously done business there. I didn't realize the amount until it was too late. No one gave me a clear verbal explanation of the cost in advance. The whole process felt like a hidden upsell disguised behind casual "just sign here" instructions, with no transparency. My last service visit resulted in a very poor experience and much different from my visit one year ago which was outstanding. The service desk was inexperienced and unable to answer any questions. There is no access to the service personnel doing the work. I was sent with a text message that claimed that I required immediate service which as it turned out could have been deferred. I had to wait 2.5 hours for updates despite the fact I asked five times for some updates. They gave me a 10% discount but this in no way compensated me for the very poor overall experience. Unfortunately, I didn't read other recent reviews which paint a similar picture. This was the worst experience I have ever had with dealer maintenance. Bought my 2019 Rav 4 Hybrid from another Toyota Dealership but tried this one for service this year since it's closer. I won't be going back. As this is my first Hybrid I've read everything Toyota has available via their site and the Toyota connect for recommended maintenance. Scheduled my car for an oil change and tire rotation as that is all Toyota recommends. This time, just like the time before at this service department, upon checking in my car 'needs' more than what Toyota recommends. Last time I agreed to some of the additional work. This time I said no as my car doesn't need to be winterized at $168 plus labor. The person working with me says 'well you will regret that as your car will make weird noises and you will be back for this'. The next recommendation was to for them to clean the hybrid battery at $458 plus labor. I asked why would this not be listed on the Toyota regular maintenance schedule and never got an answer. Instead more threats and was told 'if you don't do this your battery will overheat and you will be paying us $8,000 to replace it'. As a favor though they would waive the labor cost to replace my rear wiper. At this point I told the service rep I wasn't getting scammed and as a 20+ year Toyota owner who has always used dealerships for work I was appalled at this treatment both times at this dealer. I walked out and contacted the dealer I bought with who connected me to their service department who told me there is no regular maintenance and unless a light is on there is no need for anyone to touch my hybrid battery. They also pointed out with the warranty that the battery is covered and they generally last the life of the car Reading over the reviews this dealership is sketchy and I won't be going back. Will drive to the suburbs. Also love the 3 hour wait for an oil change if you say no to the $1,000 of work they suggest. At this point I left read more

Horrible experience. Found a car and b4 I knew it they transferred to their location from nearby. In a bind after a car totaled. All by phone walked in to pay and leave. Then the Car Sale kicked in and I got the runaround. Despite requesting The Bill and final a tag team started. The Mgr continually telling me to give them a Perfect rating. Mostly cash the small financing became a shell game. Then they charged hundreds of dollars for what should have been a plate transfer telling me they Had to do that way and I would get a refund when it was processed by 'that' group. Instead weeks later I got a New set of plates. SOS charged me $18 to transfer. I love Toyota. Started out w used ones and then bought new. This car replaced the totaled Toyota. Love my car. I would NEVER do business w Chicago Northside again, nor recommend. Quite the opposite. For new Toyota ppl this would be a horrible introduction and not representative of the Toyota brand. read more

Terrible for both service and sales. We've been here a couple times when looking for a new car. Frankly, after dealing with a couple different sales people, I would never buy a car here. They make the process so painful and just down right annoying. It took us once over 30 minutes to just log our info into the system that they had from two weeks prior. Like seriously? I just want to test drive a car and my wife and I felt like it was always an inconvenience to them. It's your job but no, just act annoyed and not all that insightful or helpful when asked questions. Then there is service. We ended up buying a Prius from a different dealer due to again terrible sales people. What I find strange and even brought to the GMs attention (with no response back) is how we asked for a service and it wasn't performed. Yet, we have gotten talked down to and belittled like a child by the same service person because we do not want to do a service they try to push on us that isn't in the owners manual. They want us to pay for a battery vent clean out. Now, a Prius has been in production for awhile. We have a 2020. If it really needs to be cleaned at the same internal as an oil change I would think it would be in owners manual. It is not. We are then told it's in a service bulletin. Ok. But never once did they offer to print it and let us read it. Just told "look it up". Well we can't find it and it comes across as a money grab. Then throw in the belittling attitude and just down right rude people and it's not fun. Also when I ask for a simple tire rotation which is normally recommended with an oil change just please do it. We had it scheduled for this and the GM didn't even bother to respond when we pointed out it was supposed to be done. Well this is the final straw. We will go somewhere else from now on as it's pointless trying to reason with these people. They sure want to sell you something but lack any decency or customer service skills when it comes down to it. Hire better people and actually respond. I have been in contact with Matthew Arenstein in the sales department at Chicago Northside Toyota regarding purchasing a new 4runner TRD off road premium. At first, he was pleasant to deal with. He was eager to find a car that suited my needs and was quick to contact me when the dealership received a new 4runner allocation. However, Matthew became quite rude when I explained to him that I would not be willing to pay $5,000 over MSRP for "dealer adjustments". According to Matthew, I was lucky that this dealership was only marking up this car by $5,000. Matthew then proceeded to tell me to "do some shopping around". I then proceeded to explain to Matthew that I had been shopping around and found that most other dealerships were not marking up their 4runner TRD off road premiums. In a sneering response, Matthew told me to "come talk to [him] when that doesn't work out". Matthew then promptly hung up on me. I find it sad that Matthew and the folks at Northside Toyota think that it's appropriate to speak to customers in this way. I also find it disheartening that they are willing to up charge customers $5,000 over the manufacturer suggested retail price. I'm all for paying a fair price and participating in good faith negotiations. Unfortunately, I can't say that Matthew and the rest of the staff at Northside Toyota are willing to do the same. read more
