I purchased a 2022 Subaru Forester at another dealer and I was overwhelmed with all of the features of the vehicle. I struggled with the manual and I decided to go to another dealer to ask for help. Service directed me to the showroom where I encountered Jesse at one of the desks. I asked if he could give me and my wife a tutorial of the features of the car. He agreed and sat in the back seat of the car and explained the workings of the dials, buttons, screens, etal. He did it at a measured pace, making sure that we understood before moving on. He fielded our questions and was sincere in his goal to explain the vehicle. Bought a 2015 Subaru Forster from them in 2018. Whenever I brought the car in for repairs, they claimed they could not find a problem. On one occasion, somebody in service stole many valuables from my vehicle exceeding $300. Prompting a discussion with the GM and Service Manager. After reviewing video, the GM agreed to replace the items, but would not acknowledge "fault". So I stooped going there, and instead went to another location where they found several repairs needed... all covered by warranty. I still have all original paperwork from the sale of my vehicle, including the window sticker, which all guaranteed a lifetime warranty on certain repairs. I have spent the last three weeks trying to speak with somebody at Gerald to exercise this warranty, only to be ignored. Instead, I have been bombarded with telemarketing calls from their sales department, emails, text messages; all trying to sell me a NEW 2025. Not one person will discuss with me this warranty. They claim to be passing along my information to the appropriate personnel, but nobody returns my calls. The joke is, that they want me to buy a new 2025, while still advertising the same warranty!! LOL.... A warranty that they will never ever honor. Buyer beware! read more

We met with Leticia several times to test drive different trims. She never rushed us, never pushed us--just listened closely to what was important to us. A couple of times, she even reminded us (very gently!) when a car didn't have one of our "must-have" features. It never felt like an upsell--just thoughtful guidance. We had to cancel a few Saturday appointments due to family situations, and Leticia remained incredibly patient and kind, checking in without being pushy. Once we were ready, we sat down to crunch the numbers--and JT, the manager, worked with us to hit a fair deal on both the MSRP and our trade-in. The process was clean and transparent. Extras like warranties were discussed only after the deal was settled, with no pressure to add anything. I'm still driving a 2012 Subaru Legacy that I purchased from Gerald many years ago now. My sales experience was a good one, and over the years, I've found their service department to be top notch. They've helped me keep my car running smoothly with no major engine or transmission repairs to date. This week I came in to have the transmission fluid replaced and they did this quickly and efficiently while also examining the entire car and pointing to a few things that may need attention down the road. Wife and I both have Subarus. My wife brought her Ascent in and Jose stated $800 excluding labor...$300 for labor. We thought that was high but we decided to go for it. She called in 20 minutes later and got transferred to the parts department who told us $600 for parts and $200 for labor. So, clearly Jose or management is trying to get another 33 percent on parts margin and another 50 percent on labor. Now last week I brought in my forrester for repairs. I asked not to have Jose but of course I got paired with him....Wanted to get new tires but was told I had one sensor on TPMS not working but got the "sales talk" that I should get all 4 replaced...:.these things are literally not much bigger than a flash drive...$993 or so....i regret getting all 4 replaced. End of day I couldn't afford to get new tires.....and now to make things worse...upon getting my car I noticed that the autostart doesn't work. I pressed the button to turn it back on and it doesn't work, so clearly the mechanic pressed something on this car (or should I say computer)....Unfortunately I had to rush to pick up my daughter and I didn't have time to tell Jose. Now every time I turn the car on the darn light keeps blinking....i don't have all day to keep bringing this car in......I called at 5:00pm and I know the service department is open till 6.....I told them everything and the lady gave me the "I'm exhausted he will call you or please call at 7am". Did not get a call back today....Dealing with this service department makes the DMV look appealing. After this darn thing gets fixed I'll drive this car to another dealership to get work done.....do not recommend. read more

BEWARE- this place lies about performing work and charges you for it if you don't pay attention. Went in for scheduled maint for our ~2 year old car that we bought from Gerald Naperville . The last time I went for service, I was skeptical that they didn't perform the rotation they recommended and charged me $75 for. This time I went in and marked my tires. They didn't rotate my tires AGAIN. I immediately brought it to their attention and after dismissing me, they went and checked the video and found the tech did in fact skip out on the work. They offered me a refund. They lost my trust and my future business. If I could give no stars I would. read more

Just an update. The green Forester in the picture was rear-ended and totaled. Everyone walked away achy but without a scratch. The cop on the scene, the body shop and the insurance adjuster all said the same thing as if they'd rehearsed it. "Good thing you were in Subaru". Two days later we bought the last 2025 Forester Touring in stock at the time. (Subie number 8 for us). We got a GREAT deal. Everyone was so kind and compassionate. We have now purchased 4 Suburu Foresters and now a 2023 Tesla from Gerald with Jeff Walker as our personal sales representative. We love Jeff and his caring and kind ways. We also have those same feelings now for Nino McMorris. If we could shout it from the rooftops about the customer service level these 2 people give, we would. We always get red carpet treatment as well as 10 star service. This last purchase was a Tesla which has a huge learning curve. I'm not one to usually write a review, but BEWARE OF THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT! I had a TRULY AWFUL and frankly HOSTILE EXPERIENCE. This was genuinely the worst customer service experience I have had not just at a dealer but quite frankly anywhere where you interact with a person. I have never felt so disrespected or been spoken to so aggressively or condescendingly at a place of business in my life! I took my car in for a couple of reasons, a recall, to have them check my TPMS light and because of a squeaking noise that my car has had the past couple of weeks. I was told when scheduling my repairs that the recall generally takes 2 hours. After they had my car for 5 hours with no update I called just to find the recall was not done and they hadn't even started anything else. I needed my car that day so I asked if they had a loaner and they did not. After finally hearing about the other issues they said I would need $1200 worth of repairs for the squeaking noise and that the TPMS was just because my tires were overinflated so they adjusted the tires and light was now off. I needed my car that day so I went to pick it up without mentioning if I would get the repairs done. That's a lot of money so I wanted to get a couple quotes elsewhere (as is my right). When we asked why we were being charged for two diagnostics the guy said that's just how they do it and have to pay. When we continued to ask for clarification on the charges he became aggressive and without any attempt to explain just said "give me the keys" and physically held out his hand. I was baffled. I was honestly afraid they would call the cops or try to physically stop me from leaving with MY VEHICLE. It felt like they were trying to hold it hostage because we were simply asking for an explanation of what I was paying for before I swiped the card. I needed my car and ended up paying the ridiculous two charges for a diagnostic so I could just get out of there. The final kicker, my TPMS light is STILL ON! I'm not even convinced they ran a diagnostic because obviously there is still an issue/they did not find out what was wrong! Needless to say I'LL NEVER TAKE MY CAR HERE AGAIN and will be getting a second opinion to confirm that I even need the repairs they said I did. Felt like a TOTAL SCAM. read more

And to top it off the finance men were both complete jerks! After having to deal with the Gerald in North Aurora, the Naperville location is such a relief. Rudy the service man was quick and gave me his card. He was wondering why I had 4 brand new tires on the car. I told him I had them put on at the North Aurora location- but they had my car and its took 6 days for them to get int finished because they simply forgot to order my tires and forgot my car was there. Then I could never get anyone on the phone at the North Aurora location except the gatekeeper/operator who messages and emails them to call you back and they never do. I don't know why they don't care at the North Aurora location but they are fully stocked and loaded with service people and customer service. My guess is they might be closing that North Aurora location. It looks like a ghost town compared to the Naperville location. They did my oil change fast and furious without any issues. Go to the Naperville location. Don't give up hope on Gerald. It's the North Aurora location that has gone down to the dumpster. read more

Traded in my 17 Outback Limited and got into a CPO 2020 Forester. Abid was very nice and explained all my options. Took time to let us cleanout the Outback and transfer over to the new Forester. i popped 2 of my tires and i went to this dealership to get it fixed because they were under warranty. there were problems with the warranty, so they said the car will definitely be ready before 4th of july. one week after july 4th still nothing. we asked about it and they sajd they would deliver it to my house today and i really dont think thats going to happen because they close in 30 minutes. very disappointed with the service here, i will never be returning because you guys love to lie to your customer's to keep them happy read more

Gerald Subaru service advisors are on top of their customers' vehicles and its needs. I was previously here in August 2024 getting some pretty hefty repairs done, and the advisor had mentioned that the next visit would require an engine oil flush apart from a normal oil change. I am not great with cars or their parts, and so I was struggling to remember what the car needed. I am grateful that he remembered from my last visits, and it seems that my car will just need regular oil changes from now on. All of the advisors are very attentive and communicative. read more

Went to this dealership to check and possibly purchase a Subaru Ascent. Was hoping because this dealership was located in naperville that i would at least get treated with a little more respect as a customer compared to closer dealerships from the city but unfortunately totally wrong. We had to drive an hr but thought it would be worth it. Was trying to make an offer on the ascent and as they were going back to their sales supervisors during typical conversation , they ( i believe some of the other sales staff or possibly the manager) became extremely rude and disrespectful with how they acted in the background. They seemed as if they were arrogant and obnoxious typical car sales men . We all know car shopping and buying can be difficult with all of the choices out there, pricing, and financing options. Gerald Subaru Naperville made it easy for me. I did my research online and they were able to match the best price. They also have 0% financing right now which is unheard of! My experience started with Manny and Tina when I was shopping around via phone. They gave me nothing but positivity and helpful information. They were timely in their responses to me and overall very pleasant to chat with and set my appointment up. I made an appointment for 11AM this past Saturday. Usually, this time on the weekend at a dealer is CRAZY busy but with the unfortunate virus, this dealer has essential workers and those who made an appointment ahead of time. They had social distancing reminders throughout the dealer and everyone had masks on which was nice to see. My dad and husband came along to the appointment and we were introduced to our Sales Consultant, Nick Gruic. He welcomed us kindly, was professional, and made the entire experience very enjoyable. He wasn't pushy at all and listened well to what I wanted. He provided great tips throughout and was knowledgeable about the car I was buying and any questions we had. You're awesome Nick! Next we worked with John Pryor, the Finance Manager. We was also nice to work with and efficient with all of the paperwork. The entire dealer was very clean and has great amenities (Starbucks coffee, donuts, snacks) you can help yourself to during the experience. I chose the new 2020 Subaru Forester Sport and I couldn't be happier with my purchase! :) They shined it up sparkly clean for me inside, washed it, and even filled it up with a full tank. Ok so I originally posted a really lengthy one star review here, but I got contacted by Gerald to try to make up for their terrible customer service and they asked me to update my review. The review was primarily saying how Jeff walker, his admin And manager Nino Mcmorris completely fell off the face of the earth as soon as my purchase was done. None of them responded to any of my emails even when I was worried something was wrong with my new vehicle a wk after I got it. Anthony Mazany was the one who contacted me apologizing and trying to make it right, asking me to change my Yelp review to focus on how they tried to make up for it. He said to reach out to him anytime j had questions about anything since Jeff ignored me. Fast forward to now, Jeff emailed me asking how my car was doing... completely ignored all of my previous emails to him and never addressed it. And I contacted Anthony twice inquiring about buying another Subaru and he has also completely ignored my emails. I have never ever faced such horrible customer service!! The finance guy even messed something up on my transaction and I was later told he was fired. Avoid this place at all costs!!! read more

I had a wonderful experience at Gerald Subaru of Naperville. I have been looking for a replacement vehicle for my wife as a surprise and decided to make a switch from a sedan to an SUV. Ehab was knowledgeble and extremely polite as he guided me through the options. I was given a very fair purchase price without a hassle for my vehicle of choice without the general "back and forth wear the customer down" tactics generally seen in most dearlerships. I took my wife to the dealership to show her the new SUV and found she was't as excited as myself about that style of vehicle. Well, Ehab wasn't available at the time to assist, so, Lenny stepped up to the plate and provided great assistance while my wife and I tried to quickly make an alternative vehicle selection. It was back to the drawing board for a new selection. Anthony, the sales manager came over to patiently and kindly assist us with viable options and fair pricing for those options without pressure. In the end, my mate and I decided to take more time to make our final decision once we we found ourselves on the same page. We did, however, unanimously decide that Gerald of Naperville would be our choice in the future of a dealership to purchase our vehicle. Avoid buying a car here. I went there to buy a car and the sales management was awful for many reasons. #1. I was looking for a Forester in a specific color which they didn't have. I asked if any other dealerships had it and they told me no, only to find out there were 2 other dealerships in the area who had the car I wanted. #2. I then decide to settle on another color and negotiate price. I thought I could get a decent deal since my husband bought a car from them 6 months ago. However, I was told they will only come down $500 under MSRP because of the demand for cars due to upcoming tariffs. Another load of crap as the next day I went to a different Subaru dealership, which I had no previous relationship with, and got the color I wanted for $2,800 below MSRP. #3. Every Subaru they sell has this added protection package which adds to the cost of the vehicle and is a waste of money. #4 Their lifetime power train warranty is a joke. It's only valid if you spend the thousands of dollars on routine maintenance. My husband's warranty was voided because he wouldn't buy a cabin filter after 12,000 miles/6 months. How does a cabin filter have anything to do with power train? We will also no longer be going to Gerald Subaru for our routine maintenance. Overall, Subarus are great cars, but go to a different dealership and avoid Gerald Subaru at all costs. read more

As far as car buying experiences go, you could do a lot worse than Gerald Subaru. I was in the market for a used Honda Fit, and they had a more competitive price than most other dealers. I live in Chicago, so I called them and spoke to Manny ahead of time to confirm the car was available and explain I had been burned with additional fees being tacked on after visiting a dealership. I wanted assurance there were no hidden fees beyond the listed car price, doc fee, license, and tax. They assured me that was it, so I made the appointment. Ehab ended up being my sales consultant. He was friendly and pretty easy to work with. There was a lot of expected back in forth with going to the manager and negotiating price, and he can be a fast talker but he did eventually work with me, and I felt my experience with him was so positive by the end I probably should have haggled more but oh well lol. I am a woman and this was my first time car shopping alone, and I felt like I could do a lot worse than Ehab. If you want to have a positive experience, I cannot stress enough to do a lot of research and have some solid information on your credit score, APR rate, trade in value, and value of the car you are buying. I feel like a big part of why my experience was good was I came in with information, and in turn I felt like Ehab treated me with basic respect and worked with me to help me get a fair price on the car I wanted in a tough market. read more

My wife was picking up a new car (fleet company car) see told the person she was dealing with there was no gas in it (line was way below empty) he told her she would be fine and didn't put any gas in it). She mad it about .5 miles before it ran out of gas. Took them 45 minutes for them to send a porter to put a bit of gas to get her to a gas station. This is not the dealership to "go to" to buy a new car. They will scam you with a "bait and switch" and they specialize in scamming customers who try to help them stay in the business of car selling. The new car sales associate as well as the General Manager as well as the Business Manager all are scam artists. They will forcibly sell you - different service maintenance packages in addition to 3 yr/36 manufacturer warranty - without your consent and without defining what these packages contain only to deny you coverage when you need them . My wife and I purchased a 2014 Kia Sportage from Gerald Subaru a couple of months ago. While purchasing the vehicle Ehab showed us this thing showing that the vehicle had a thorough look over, like 75-100 different things were supposed to have been checked and everything was supposed to be good. Immediately when we got it the low tire pressure sensor light was on. I thought it was no big deal, just a tire that needs some air, although I also wondered why they wouldn't just air the tire up and give it to us with the light on. All the tires were low on air, as I found out when I when I went to get air. Even with the correct amount in each tire the light was still on. I took it to Discount Tires, they said the tires were not the issue. Meanwhile I've discovered that not only are the license plate lights out, but the covers were smashed too. Also, the windshield washer doesn't work, but I assumed that because it was constantly below freezing the lines might be frozen. So I figured I'd wait till the weather broke and give it a chance to thaw out. The weather got warmer and the windshield washer still didn't work. I contacted Ehab about the issues at this point and was told they wouldn't help me in any way. Somehow all of this was missed in their "thorough" check over of the vehicle and they refuse to make it right. This is the first and last vehicle we'll buy from Gerald if that's how they do business. read more

So, I wisely decided to buy a new or used car. Jeff Walker in Sales recommended a clean pre-owned 2019 Subaru Forester Sport. The car was purchased, maintained, and traded in at Gerald Subaru. Perfect!!! Leo Katsnelson, pre-owned car sales manager answered my very specific questions about the options on this car. So many options lead to so much confusion for the buyer. Tony Mazany, Sales Manager, gave me great advice about after-purchase options like a maintenance plan and a remote start. Great!!! Mike Price, Business Manager, secured the financing and wrapped things up. So in summary, what started out as bad news, turned into great news.
