I bought my house in 2009, and from almost the day I moved in, I despised the windows. Casement. Ugh. Yeah, sure, they look nice, but on windy days, I had to close the windows out of fear they would turn into sails and get ripped from the frames. On rainy days, I was unable to leave a few windows slightly open in order to get some air movement (casement windows open from top to bottom, if you are unfamiliar with the term). When the windows were open, people could easily see the windows were open (hey, I live in Chicago, we worry about crime here in the big bad city). Worse, as the house settled, window after window became unusable. I finally made the decision to replace the casement windows with double hung, and after I spoke to some other firms -- including one that sent over the most "salesy," gimmick-laden salesperson I ever encountered, you've probably seen their TV ads (I had to ask him, repeatedly, to leave, and I needed an hour to get him to go, truly awful) -- I was delighted I made a call to Chicago Window Guys. The owner, Russ, was the salesperson who came to my house. Now we're talking...I like doing deals with the final decision maker. His approach was what I expected: He was on time and got straight to business. No salesy talk, no gimmicks, he simply asked a few questions, took some measurements, and made notes as I explained what I wanted and what windows were to be replaced. He explained a few options to me, answered my questions...we hammered out the price, and cut the deal right then and there. When I'm treated right, I'm a salesperson's dream. He got the deal, and I sent a check a few days later after we finalized the contract. He sent his measurement guy a few days later, he took detailed measurements, made a few more notes, and sent the order to be fulfilled. Now, this is part of the reason why CWG won the deal: they make their windows onsite, here in the Chicago area. They are not a reseller. They are not a distributor for someone else. They fabricate their own product. That cuts out the middleman, to use an overused cliche, which means they offer a superior product at less than what other resellers charge. Two months later, my windows were done, and after false start due to rain (not CWG's fault, obviously), they installed the entire order in one day. That's 7 windows upstairs, 10 windows downstairs, plus the sliding door in the master bedroom, and the sliding door and transom in the family room. One day. The crew was on time, got right to work, and did a fantastic job. They even managed to take down my blinds, then reinstalled them when the work was done. They didn't have to do that, but they did. The cleaned up their work, sealed the windows on the inside and outside...and left. Absolutely first class. I am 100% satisfied with the work and the final product. Russ's crew delivered a great product and provided great service. That salesy, gimmick-laden company, by the way, initially quoted three times what I paid CWG. If you want to be annoyed and ripped off, go with the guys on TV. If you want a quality product at a fair price, go with Chicago Window Guys. read more

I had Mark come by to show me some window options, and I decided to purchase a three-panel window. The installation was done in November 2024. Since then, I've noticed water streaks on both sides of the new window after rain -- something that never happened with my old windows. This makes me question the quality of the installation. On top of that, after the windows were replaced, I found a lot of broken glass left all over my front yard. It was clear that no tarp was used to catch the debris, and I had to clean it up myself. For a professional installation, I expected much better care and attention to detail. Only one man handled the installed the window at the end, the others came and left which may have contributed to the sloppy work. My experience with Chicago Window Guys is nothing short of stellar. The windows and doors are solid and operate easily and smoothly. They needed 2 days to do the install since the job was so big. When they were doing the install on the second day, they removed the porch doors and adjacent windows to find massive water damage. The wooden frames were shot, the drywall was crumbling and there was frost underneath the floor inside under our new carpet. The 1/2 day project turned into a day. They knocked out and cleaned up all the rotted debris and rebuilt everything. They put the carpet back down and as my wife said "it doesn't even look like they were here except for the new doors and windows they left behind." And they didn't charge us a penny more!! It felt really good to give the install team a big fat tip because they totally deserved it! If you need new windows or doors, look no further... you won't be disappointed! Needed a replacement patio door. Called based on radio commercials in 670 The Score. Owner responded to request and came to give an estimate within a day or two. Quoted price was fair. Estimate given was ~2 months for manufacturing of the door (they make everything custom). Installation was about a week ago now. Installers were here right in time and got the door installed in only about 2 hours, despite the frame being old and a bit irregular. Very happy with the new door. It's very high quality and fit, and looks like it will outlast the house. Everyone was very easy to deal with, responsive, and friendly. I'll definitely be calling them again whenever we get around to doing more on the house. read more

I HIGHLY recommend Chicago Window Guys! I was immediately contacted by Russ after I inquired about our project and a time to meet was set up. Russ was easy to talk to and understood our project which was a new front door, but also replacing a back swinging door and pair of windows with a sliding door. Russ took a consultative approach rather than a sales approach which really resonated with me. Other companies were simply going to remove the windows and door and put in the slider, but they weren't going to close up the old door or dry wall or exterior siding. After the really cold winter of a few years ago, my husband and I decided it was time to get the windows replaced--they were obviously original to the 50 year old house and felt like they were almost open half of the time during that winter! We had Russ come out to give us his pitch and I was very pleased when he could answer all of my physics-based questions about the different physical qualities of the windows to my satisfaction. It was obvious he wasn't just a salesman, but truly knew what he wads talking about. We decided to go with his team after having a few more consultations. They weren't the lowest, but definitely not at the highest end either--especially when we were having all 22 windows, 2 doors, and two storm doors, and one very large main window being replaced all at once. Installation was a bit delayed (by two weeks) because of a certain door taking a little more time to complete, side the window frames but was still completed very quickly once everything had come in. The guys were great at cleaning up after themselves each day, even though they were often working in the dark by the time they were wrapping up for the day. As far as cleanup goes, the only thing I ever found on the ground was one small piece of pink insulation...never a nail or scrap of wood or aluminum trim anywhere. Two weeks after the installation was complete, Russ called to see if there were any problems we'd noticed. The only one we had to report was that some of the windows slid down on their own. His crew was back out the next day changing out some tensioners in the Fram,es that were causing problems. We've never had any issues since, and the house stays warm in winter and cool in summer, with noticeably less runtime for the furnace and the air conditioner. I'm pleased with the job they did and highly recommend their work. I will probably never need their services in the future (unless we move) but if I do need window or door replacements, I wouldn't hesitate to call them. read more

Make sure you get a contract. Was originally told 0% for 1 year. After iinstall waa not given thia deal. Refused to honor original deal kept saying the wording was not in rhe contract that they never sent me when they said rhwy would. Bay windows are not the right size either forcing me to get new curtains. They obviously did not measure the windows ans curtains before install. read more

Nice widows, terrible customer service. I ordered windows on Aug 23, 2021. I was verbally told that they would be 8-10 weeks multiple times, but then was handed a contract that indicated 12 weeks for delivery, on Nov 15. The 12 weeks passed and I heard nothing from the company. One phone call or message saying "supply chain issues, staffing issues, pandemic issues, etc.," I would be understanding and I would have no complaint. Instead, crickets. The installation crew finally arrives on Dec 6 (15 weeks). I'm told that the 14 windows on my single-story house will take two full days to complete. I also ordered new doors and I am informed that the company has thrown in new storm doors free of charge. A semi-hollow gesture as only one storm door fits, the other being too small. I then find out that my dining room picture window was poorly made as it is 4 inches to small. The crew completes what it can and I hand the crew boss a check covering 80% of my outstanding balance (50% of the cost was paid at contract signing) on Dec 7. On Dec 20 I am contacted by the owner who's only question is where's his money. Informing him that 80% of what was owed was given to the crew boss as the job is incomplete, it still takes the company 24 hours to sort out their issues, with their accountant emailing me the next day to blame the crew boss for the misplaced check (crew boss swears he turned it in on Dec 8), and that they were going to invoice me for the remaining amount shortly, obviously clueless as to the status of my project. No invoice was sent, but the remaining window still took until Feb 1, 2022 to be installed, 23 weeks after I wrote my first check. When the installation crew arrived, they still did not have the missing storm door (crew boss had to run to the store to buy one) and a screen that was ripped during the Dec installation was not replaced. So now, On March 1, 2022, seven full months after my first phone call and $20,000 spent, the job remains incomplete. read more

Our house is 30 years old and the double hung windows are showing their age. Nonetheless, who wants to spend money on windows until you have to? I heard a Chicago Windows Guys radio commercial and decided to arrange an appointment to gather information, not for an immediate purchase. Before calling, I visited the CWG website which is filled with very helpful information including some very challenging standards for a replacement window company to meet. Based on the strength of the website and the commercial, I called and spoke with Russ Armstrong from CWG and made it clear to him that I was gathering information only and would understand if he did not want to make the trip to Crystal Lake to visit our house. Russ appreciated the heads up and assured me that he wanted to make the visit and appreciated our interest. We made an appointment for about 1 week later and Russ showed up on time to the minute after calling and letting us know he was on the way. Russ is exceptionally knowledgeable and expertly presented his products and demonstrated many of their features. Even more impressive than the presentation was Russ's manner and sincerity to provide both an excellent product and an overall excellent customer experience. Russ gave us a whole house estimate and explained how we could do the work in stages and that he would hold to his estimate. I had done some research ahead of time and the cost appeared very reasonable given the quality of the product and the promised service level. Russ inspires confidence and trust. Despite my expectation to gather information only, we decided to replace 4 windows in our family room and a 3 panel sliding patio door. We signed the order with the CWG lifetime warranty, gave Russ the deposit, and had an estimated install date about four weeks out. Since I moved so quickly, I decided to have another company come in the next week and give us an estimate on comparable product and work. CWG was over 40% less expensive with a better warranty and a much greater sense of assurance provided by Russ and CWG. That was comforting but would CWG perform as promised? The answer: absolutely yes! Installers arrived on time, worked diligently, were polite, asked if there were any questions, cleaned up well, removed all old materials, and minimally disrupted our lives. The windows are great with smooth up and down, excellent tilting for cleaning, and really clear glass. The patio door works smoothly and solidly and is better than the unit it replaced. Russ followed up during the day and that night to be sure that all went well. Overall, a great experience! read more

The windows I had installed are medium quality windows but I thought the installation was excellent- initially wrote a good review on their site. I felt comfortable having them install a picture window at another home and so far every one is pleased with that. I then hired them to install three storm doors in late fall 2018. The doors are low quality (my fault that I didn't look into them first.) and the installation was poor, unprofessional. Russ did offer at first to give a partial refund but I thought I could seal them up. When that didn't work I tried contacting the company through phone, email and text messages and leaving a message at a home show in which they participated (russ was out of the country curling). Russ did return one call (asked to contact him again later due to dinner engagement) but I have had no responses on any of the other contacts - so much for any warranty they offer. All I was asking for is recommendations on what I could do to seal them up. This is now the second winter for the doors which do not seal out drafts and allow insects to enter. . I cannot see out the front door due to the layer of ice that coats the inside. The doors have been a very poor purchase and experience and I will begin replacing them this spring. read more
