I was referred to LDS by another company that I had a great experience with, so I took their referral at face value. Bad move - wish I had checked Yelp first. Ronnie came to estimate repairs for a window that had shattered in the extreme cold. During the estimate process he walked through the house to look at the other windows and mentioned their "window wellness" service. I told him I was interested and he said he would get me info along with a quote for the window. After emailing me the quote, I accepted and asked when the work could be done. They told me they needed to come back and take "final measurements." This should have been a red flag because they already came to measure and estimate! But I let it go and made arrangements for the second visit, and accepted the updated quote. A few weeks later (scheduling was really difficult) the work was done and it looked good. Never got the "window wellness" quote but at that point I didn't want it. That was in March. This month (June) my wife noticed some glass fragments around the window. She tapped on the window frame and more glass fell out. A few more taps and it was basically raining glass. Apparently LDS replaced the window but never cleaned out the fragments from the window that shattered. Lucky for us the kids weren't home and we were able to clean it up (after taking apart the frame to do so) with no injuries. I considered writing to LDS to remedy the situation but I don't have time to deal with their scheduling process when there is literally glass on my floor. Besides, there's no reason to believe they would do the job correctly based on past performance. Avoid LDS for any / all window needs. I would not use this company. They were selected by my association to repair two windows and replace the glass on a third. After some initial difficulties contacting them, I scheduled them to perform the work. They did a fine job replacing one and repairing one. After cracking open the frame of the third window and making it inoperable, they determined that it actually couldn't be repaired in the way they thought, but they could possibly repair it if I found out the manufacturer or they would replace it. They left my window in pieces, and I told them I would find out who the manufacturer was. After contacting the builder and getting the name of the window manufacturer, I reported it to LDS' company manager who assured me that I would receive a response shortly. "Shortly" turned into a MONTH of about a dozen calls, texts, and emails to both the owner and manager, most of which went unanswered. When I did get a response, it was to say that the manufacturer was moving really slow, and they were waiting on a response from them. I eventually called the manufacturer myself to which I was told that they had never heard from LDS. I was left with a month of dodged phone calls and a broken window that I am still having trouble getting fixed because no other company wants to replace just one window. If LDS had be just quoted me correctly, been honest about what they were doing, contacted the manufacturer like they said they would or gave me a bid to replace the window then I wouldn't be in this situation. read more

LONG VERSION After decades of neglect from the previous owner, and a few years of neglect from us, our 31 yo casement windows were in terrible shape (10 banks of 2). Major rotting of wood sills, sashes, brick moulding, and more. Ronnie & crew in the field, along with Dylan in the office, provided a clear, detailed, competitive quote based on what they could see during the initial inspection. Given the windows' particularly poor condition, they appropriately warned me they might uncover additional repairs while taking everything apart for the quoted repairs. I knew this to be the case from past experience on other projects, but still appreciated they called it out explicitly. Ronnie & crew were on-time, respectful, communicative & informative, and ensured I knew the status of the work as it progresssed. During the repairs, Ronnie identified some hidden issues -- though not entirely unexpected (see aforementioned warning) -- which required substantially more work. In each case, Ronnie showed me the newly uncovered issue, explained why the work needed (or did not need) to be done, and confirmed how I wanted to proceed. Most of the additional repairs clearly were necessary to support and complete the originally quoted repairs, so I agreed. While highly recommended, I have to say was underwhelmed with the customer service of this place. The guy called to get the details of my project and said he would stop by to give me an estimate on my broken window project. I told him it was a small job albeit a detailed one as my home has old steel casement windows where the glass needs to be individually replaced and glazed. He assured me they had experience with this. I never heard back from them, they never left an estimate and I basically wasted a week waiting for them to fix a broken window. Astoundingly poor service. I never post on Yelp, but as I am sitting here next to my broken window, I am so irritated that I caved. Scheduling an estimate was easy. Ronnie and another employee came out promptly, were courteous, and provided an estimate right away. I was pleased and wanted to move forward with the work. Scheduling the work was another story. The seemingly only office employee, Lauren, was impossible to connect with. I emailed, I called, I texted. At one point, she finally said she had ordered my materials and that she would be in touch with me to collect a deposit. She never was. I chased her down a few times after that. She told me that she would check with the vendor and get back to me in a day. She never did. I tried for TWO MONTHS to schedule this work, practically begging these people to take my money. Thank god they didn't. On top of it all, two of the windows that Ronnie inspected were not shut properly. As in, they WERE SHUT when he opened them to inspect them, but he did not close them before he left. I cannot get them closed (hence the reason for needing window repairs). As it is getting colder, this is becoming increasingly problematic. So I tried ONE LAST TIME to email these people over a week ago. I found Ronnie and his team after a reference from a an ethical window replacement company that told me I could save thousands but having my windows restored rather than replaced.  News to me that just replacing the glass, and not the entire window frame, is considered restoration.  Ronnie obviously knew his stuff when he came through to check everything out. He pointed out mistakes by previous workers and took tons of notes. His office assistant sent the quote in about three weeks.  Compared to total replacement the cost was about 75% less.  Ronnie brought extra people and was able to do all the work in just 1 day.  I totally trust him and would be comfortable giving him the key codes to my home. The crazy wind last week somehow blew out a casement window in our condo and completely broke the latch at the bottom. It was dangling over the sidewalk below and was a big problem. I rang LDS and said my situation was an emergency, and about 20 minutes later, I received a call from a woman who said Ronnie was wrapping up another project only four miles from me and was going to be at my place in 20 minutes. The worst company we ever dealt with! We don't like to do reviews, especially bad reviews - no business is ever operated without mistakes, so we tend to be more understanding than difficult. However, this business is just beyond reasonable! Utterly horrible! We asked to fixed the handles on a few of our windows, the owner (extremely difficult person to deal with) came over, sold us a toning service and changing ALL of our window handles. The price was a little high, but if the job was done correctly, we don't mind the hefty price tag. The service was performed on early May. We can't say they did a good or even better job - The toning didn't do much to the windows, we could honestly not need this since there was not much difference. However, it was the handles that we had the most of the problems with - They changed all our short ones and put on almost a foot long handles on most of the windows. With a narrow structure of the house, it's hard not to trip on them walking in the hallway. So you think being in this business for a LONG time, they would have at least the common sense. Anyway, we agreed to order the folded ones and change them later. This is AFTER we paid them hundreds of dollars. And what's worse, during this service, they also broke the operator of one of our windows, that window CAN NOT be opened EVER! They said they would come back to fix it at a later time. A month passed by, there was no news, so we called and emailed and called and emailed. Then a few months passed by, we heard nothing! Hence, we think this review is very deserving and fair at this point. We will file a claim/dispute with respective authorities and yes, this review will be on EVERY site. We had several crank windows that stopped working. Ronnie was responsive to my inquiry and to my follow-up communications. While they were at my house to provide an estimate, I also mentioned an issue with a pocket door. Ronnie agreed to try to fix when they fixed the windows. I received the quote within 48 hours and the estimate was reasonable. I was concerned that I would be overcharged because it was difficult to find someone who handles window repairs when it is something minor like the crank. Lauren contacted me for the deposit, but I'm not sure what happened with it. I did follow up with Ronnie about it and he took care of it. A few weeks later the items were available so I scheduled a date/time with him to repair it. Unfortunately, I missed his email to schedule it so we had to reschedule it a week later. They arrived on-time and started working immediately. They took care of all the items and Ronnie fixed my pocket door too! This was a relief because I couldn't find anyone who would do it. I also asked about replacing a couple of windows and was thankful to hear that it wasn't needed. The windows work as good as new and we paid far less then replacements. We had a great experience with LDS replacing the glass in several of our windows (12 windows total). I give them an A+. The seal on the windows had gone bad (popped), causing our windows to fog up. LDS's owner, Ronnie, visited our house to measure our bad windows so the custom glass could be ordered. We waited several weeks for the replacement glass, then Ronnie and his assistant came back to remove the bad glass and install the new windows. Also, our windows have been tough to open for a while; they felt stiff, so LDS serviced all our windows as well. Our windows open and close without a problem now, and we are fog-free. I had 2 guys come out 8/22/18 to measure for a quote for a new sliding glass door. They were prompt for their appointment and took the measurements quick and said I would receive an email with a quote on the next few days. Fast forward to 9/2/18 and I had received no quote so I sent an email. No response. I got busy so I didn't call until 9/14/18 and it went to voicemail so I said I hadn't received the quote. No call back. I called 9/17/18 and a Lauren answered who said that she will call the owner who will get me the quote that evening. Did not receive it. I called again the 9/21/18 and Lauren answered again. She said she talked to "the guy" and he would be emailing me the quote and calling me that night to let me know that he sent it. It is now 9/22/18 and I still do not have it. If I have to go through this much to even hear how much it would cost, I can't imagine what it would be like for install. This company came out , ran through my home , gave me a ridiculous estimate for repair and window wellness checks , took my down payment and disappeared.!!!!! I have specialized windows. LDS returned my call on a Sunday to be sure I was not "freezing" due to the broken window. Ronnie came out the next week to check the type of window I had. Ronnie took the time to explain what was needed to be done, after he reviewed the information, I was told I only needed one "square" of glass instead of an entire "sash", was extremely through, and is a craftsman/artist in his field. Never received a quoted so called was told to check spam. First off, sent new employee to come measure windows, stayed too long, talked too much(his divorce, his band, and his life as retired fireman) , text me seveal times late night when there was no need. Wanted to come a second time to make sure "he did it right." Owner Ronnie and his son came to do the work after several weeks of waiting for parts to come in. Window glass was ordered in wrong size, had to be re-ordered. The ONE balancer I was told I needed was put into wrong window. I watched as Ronnie drill screws direcly in window frames to have them stay in place, which I know was not the proper thing to do. The "Wellness Service" is nothing but a $35 dollar charge for them to spray a version of WD40 on the tracks- DO NOT BE FOOLED. Was told at estimate they clean window sills, Owner Ronnie scoffed at that. There were Ronnies paw prints all over my windows, house and furniture. Ronnie and another son came for a second trip to now replace window glass in correct size. I mentioned that the windows were not in any better working order, many were WORSE after his handy work. Ronnine became crass and rude, telling me that I was the one that didn't want to spent the money to get them working, that ALL the balancers needed replacing. I reminded him, I was told by HIS company only one window needed them. He then again offered to "respray" his metal lube, which I refused to let him do. And just an FYI, Lauren in "billing" is his wife. This is obviously a small family run company. I feel dupped and I way overpaid to have my windows in exact same working condition, or worse as before LDS came. At least I have Ronnies hand prints high on my window to wave BYE BYE! read more

He talked me out of replacing the windows and instead replaced some of the glass and did some maintenance to make the windows like new again. I found them online by Googling Window repair companies. I called Fixawindow.com early in the am today after my basement window fell out of the pane from a wind storm. They fit me into their schedule even though we were having snow storm and they were coming from the city. When they got here they took one look at the window and said "it just came off the hinge". He climbed up on a chair, put in back on the hinge and said "That's all. Easy". He didn't charge me for the visit or the repair. They were friendly, efficient and showed up exactly when they said they would and if I ever have a REAL window issue I will absolutely call them. read more

Nope - move on. Initial pleasantries and fairly quick scheduling to get an assessment was later met with almost comical lack of response and poor customer service. (Comical only if you aren't waiting patiently to repair a window, that is.) Can't comment on the quality of their work, but with this treatment of customers they will likely be out of business soon. We waited a few weeks after the assessment, then contacted them to try to get the quote. Email seems a challenge to this office, but finally received the quote after much delay. Getting in touch with the owner or office manager after that was a total exercise in frustration. Finally resorted to texting and emailing and calling, all to just give a credit card deposit and set up the installation. As the weeks passed, I pictured the owner and office manager on vacation somewhere, drinking heavily, ignoring all their messages and texts and laughing (this was an odd mental image, but maybe the sense I got from meeting the guy). We shouldn't have bothered, because though they apparently 'ordered the window' a month or more after the estimate, and here it is almost 5 months later and we haven't heard a peep from them. I had an initially good experience. After submitting an online request for a quote, I got a prompt phone call and a representative came by to take a look at a few windows and doors which needed fixing. He told me he'd reach back out with a quote, which I never received. Over the following month, I called multiple times (no one ever answered), sent an email and resubmitted an online request.
