I decided to replace it due to the age of the unit I had. I felt that Mike reviewed all of the options with me. His estimate for a review was much better than the one the I had gotten from another company. We've had Compass maintain our HVAC system for the past year. They've always been prompt, and I never felt like I was upsold on anything. A few weeks ago, we hired Compass to install a new gas furnace/humidifier to replace our 20 year old furnace. They gave us several options to choose from, and we were able to get a new system installed pretty quickly. They appear to favor/recommend hybrid heating systems, i.e. heat pump + gas furnace backup, but again, they are not pushy about it if you're not interested in such a setup. We ended up going with a standard gas furnace by Daikin and so far are very pleased at how it performs and the service we received! read more

Mike and his team did a great job with our Mitsubishi split system. We were having trouble with the temperature in our nursery. Cold in the winter and hot in the summer. Mike came out and discussed options and pricing. A couple of weeks later our issue is now totally rectified. Had the "kumo cloud" installed on the unit so we can access it and control remotely via the web. The electrician who ran the power to the unit actually brought a totally unrelated issue with our water system to our attention. Cannot recommend these guys enough. Class act operation. Thanks guys! UPDATE: 2 years later.. The Mitsubishi is working absolutely fantastic. Keeps the nursery exactly how we want it. We just had Compass install two whole new systems in our home. Mike and his team successfully installed a Daikin VRV system in our home literally right before our old unit died. His team of installer/techs not only were cordial but extremely knowledgeable. We had quotes ranging from 5k to 17k. No one knew the product as well as Mike and no one offered multiple products like he did. It was either cheap or the extreme. Was charged $445 for a AC turbo 200 capacitor, which is $100 tops on Amazon/ Home Depot. Plus the $90 service fee. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!! I have wasted hundreds on this business. They are dishonest, lack major communication skills, and use their backgrounds to gain people's trust. I just had another HVAC company to give me a second opinion on a $600 repair and come to find out, it wasn't a repair I needed at all. If you are a female and need some assistance understanding the mechanics of HVAC systems, this is definitely not the company to use. I gave them ample opportunity to return my calls and at least refund my Maintenance Contract money back since I never want them back in my home but obviously they don't care. read more

They explained their progress on all day job. Cleaned up beautifully afterward. Watched my dog to make sure she didn't get out as they moved equipment. (Arlington Heights, IL) I went with Compass after getting quotes from 4 different HVAC companies. Compass was not the lowest priced, nor were they the most expensive. After the first heat wave of 2018, we were lucky enough to have 2 weeks to do a lot of research and try to understand the situation we had to work with. My old system was 14 years old, Freon, EMC motor, 90% efficiency, 100k BTU, 4 ton, Amana. The compressor stopped working, after changing out the capacitor, it was noted that Freon was low and there may of been a leak. Long story short, I put Mike up against a Carrier company and two companies that were representing Trane. Ultimately, I had Mike up against Trane and both companies had differing opinions, the difference between the two was that Mike knew they industry, he knew about the comparable units, he was all about educating me and helping me through the unplanned expense of replacing the HVAC system. The Trane guy, was also helpful, but in the end, really lost his cool. He did not know much about the competition, i.e. models and brands, and in the end, turned into a very mean, uneducated, talking down type owner of a HVAC company. I even offered the other company potential zoning work if something did not work out in the future and the response I received was do not even bother calling me. Mike reassured me that Compass will be here for me, offering me 10/10 warranty parts and labor. I know if I have a problem in the future, I can rely on Mike and Tom and that team to help me out. Mike install staff kept my mother and mother in law feeling safe while I was at work and my daughter was in the house while they were doing the work. I can say that Mike and his team were nice to have a conversation with and this company has built a team to trust and I highly recommend them! read more

My furnace sounded like a chainsaw every time it started up and I thought, "great, this is going to cost me." We called Compass and Mike came out pretty quickly to take a look at it. We had a great experience with Mike from Compass Heating & Air. We bought a home in Inverness, and after running the boiler for a few weeks, we had a short in the transformer, and one of the controllers was fried (Woken up to a smoke detector). We called Compass, and Mike was there that afternoon. He knew what he was looking at, and did a terrific job explaining it to me any my wife. We had already set up some space heaters (Mike asked if we needed more, but we were okay with what we had), but the weather was relatively stable. Mike quickly provided a quote (and ordered the parts, but reiterated several times that we didn't need to go with him, if we preferred to tackle it ourselves). We elected to have him do the work, and he took care of totally replacing the junky old controllers we had with a single board. He was efficient, neat, polite, and very friendly. I am upgrading this review based on owner Mike's follow-up upon seeing my review and wanted to rectify somewhat. This shows he cares about he does and in process want to preserve a good customer base. He offered to restart annual service with this year paid from repair trip charge of $89 and going forward won't be any repair labor or parts charge as long as yearly maintenance service is kept. I guess I still think $299 labor charge is excessive but at least Mike reached out to make things better and based on this I am upgrading this review and hoping it works out better for everyone involved. read more

Our furnace was not working properly. It would turn on and then shut off, then it stopped working all together! With small children and several pets in the house, we needed heat FAST. I called Compass Heating & Air. Mike quickly arrived at our house and diagnosed that our chimney was blocked. He removed the blockage from the chimney and returned to install a chimney liner with a cap to prevent further debris from getting in our chimney. He gave our furnace a full inspection and cleaning which we will have done on a regular basis from now on....by Compass only! I highly recommend this company.
