    Apple Cider Donuts sign

I wasn't going to stop, but when I saw the sign for Apple Cider Donuts, I HAD TO! There was SO MUCH to choose from! Maple Syrup in small jugs or in glass maple leaf containers. Blueberry muffins, Cinnamon sugared and regular Sugared Apple Cider Donuts. I decided to try both. They were cake donuts and very filling and delicious. The Cinnamon sugared donuts had a hint of cinnamon but both types of donuts were delicious and sweet and I even got some maple syrup to go! This is a nice small stop and the people are very friendly. A+!

AMAZING cider donuts! The Chichester Country Store (formerly Stevie D's) has reopened under new ownership, located at the skewed intersection of Route 28 and Main Street in Chichester. This is the epitome of a classic New England general store, which is housed in a century and a half old trading post built in 1847. This country store offers convenience store items, cold drinks, as well as Van Otis Chocolates, Stonewall Kitchen products, and a full service cafe & deli, which is the basis of the review. There's also a big cheese wheel near the deli counter. Boar's Head meats are used and sold here. The cafe/deli counter is order at the counter (pay at the front register) with stool seating near the counter and self serve dine-in table seating in the next room (in the historic old house attached to the store). They make fresh homemade cider donuts (deep fried behind the counter) in several varieties, fresh baked goods, eggs, 2 egg omelets, pancakes, French toast, burgers, hot dogs, hot & cold subs, sandwiches, and soups. The breakfast sandwiches are grab and go for convenience, but if you have time, they can make you a fresh sandwich. Green Mountain Coffee (self serve carafes or K-cups) is offered here. The prices here are very reasonable and they offered a special of 2 donuts and a small coffee for $1.99. My coworker who lives in the area has been raving about how awesome the donuts are at the Chichester Country Store. He stops in each week to pick up a dozen donuts and to grab breakfast with his family. After hearing about it for a while at work, it was making me hungry. I had to make the trek over to Chichester. I stopped in here for breakfast takeout before heading to work. I ordered a Spinach & Feta Omelet ($4.25) with homefries & wheat toast (add $0.50), which was cooked to order on the grill behind the counter. I also got 2 cider donuts (sugar glazed and cinnamon sugar) with a small Green Mountain Coffee ($1.99). A full breakfast including coffee and donuts came out to $7.35 with tax. The omelet was very good, which was folded eggs over a grilled spinach & feta mixture. The homefries were browned and seasoned with parsley and had a slight sweet taste. The cider donuts were AMAZING with a slight crisp on the outside and soft inside. The glazed cider donut was one of the best I've had, melt in your mouth awesomeness. The coffee was brewed on the strong side, just the way I enjoy it. I will definitely be back here again! This is also a good place to stop to/from the Lakes Region. My coworker talks about stocking up on the donuts and bringing some to an upcoming company party. Can't wait. HOURS (in 01/2010): Mon-Fri: 6AM-6PM; Sat: 7AM-4PM; Sun: 8AM-3PM NOTE: The grill closes at 2PM

I want to be kinder in this review but what has happened to this store? Service was so slow despite 8 people behind the counter. No one was assisting the lone cashier. There were also no donuts left (12:30 PM). We ordered a small and a medium chicken salad sub and one of them came on a bulkie roll which was not what we ordered. Because it took so long to make (over 10 mins), we didn't have time to have them change it to a sub roll. We wanted to wash our hands but they closed the public bathroom. Not what we were expecting because we usually love this place as a quick stop for bites and a bathroom.

Worth the trip for the apple cider donuts but don't bother ordering any other flavor donuts unless they are freshly made.

Freedom Foods opened a few months ago in the former Jack's Pizza in Pittsfield. They serve all day…read morebreakfast foods (eggs, omelets, breakfast sandwiches, pancakes, Belgian waffles, French toast sticks, bagels), burgers, cheesesteak subs, deli subs, fries, pizzas, salads, chicken, wings, taco burritos, pork dumplings, bagged chips, coffee and cooler drinks (Coke products). The prices here seem reasonable. The place offers dine-in and carryout and the bright dining room with several tables is decorated with a patriotic theme using red, white and blue colors and decor and the old school black & white checkered linoleum floor and a TV in the corner. I stopped in for takeout and placed my order at the counter. I ordered a Smashburger with Provolone Cheese ($8.99 plus tax), lettuce, tomato, raw onions, and ketchup with spicy crinkle cut fries and a 7" Pepperoni Deep Dish Pizza ($7.99 plus tax). My order was ready in 18 minutes and I enjoyed my takeout food back at the office. The smashburger had a nicely grilled beef patty with my favorite toppings on a soft thick kaiser bun. The thick golden crinkle cut fries were crisp, firm outside and soft inside and had a cajun seasoning and ketchup dip cup provided. The personal sized pizza had a thick soft deep dish crust filled with lots of thick red sauce, pepperoni slices and gooey melted cheese. Overall, the food was enjoyable and done right. The service was very friendly and I will definitely have to stop in again for breakfast.

Wonderful little lunch stop!…read more It was full of locals and regulars and on a wait for lunch. At that moment I knew I had picked a good spot! We chilled with the folks up front for a good bit before getting a table. It seemed we were the only people that had not been here 30-40 times before. Most people didn't even want menus and the sweet server ladies just brought them food without conversation at all. It's kind of old school feeling inside. It's an open kitchen and you can see all of the action. Inside is all wooden and rustic. It reminds me of my grandmas house in Camden TN. Not sure why. It's just really comfortable in here to me. The tile and fireplaces make super cozy. This place has some of the best chili that I have had in a long time. I dig the fact they give tortilla shops automatically with the chili. Win!! Thick and meaty and oh so filled with spice and love!! Cheese on top was a nice touch too. Really liked it! My French dip was fucking killer!! So damn big too! I could only eat half of it because of the the fire ass chili I had already eaten. French fries were battered type. Nothing wrong with that!! I drove around with this sandwich for two days of travel and ate it on the road later. Stupendous French dip!! C had an open faced roast beef sandwich. FIRE!! The green beans were so pretty and fresh too. She could barely get 1/3 down, lol. It was a ton of food. Economical! Hometown feel! Good people working and eating here! I love it!! I'm not even sure I could find the place again. I sure am glad I did the first time! '26 -39
