Decided to come out here instead of taco guerrero because i've heard that place is pretty white washed so we went to the place across Morenos Taqueria! A small place near beautiful pismo beach. Decided to first order a shrimp taco for myself, in my opinion it was overloaded with tomatoes, i should've asked to taken it off, but the shrimp was alright. Then i decided to get some chips and salsa as O wanted a good crunch, the salsa was yummy and flavorful, good choice. but nachos were so plain, the crunch was great but such a. lack of flavor I could not force myself to finish my $6 plain chips , even with all that salt i added cause of it's lack of flavor. I just saved it to make chilaquiles at home lol also the salsa bar was poorly maintained :( pretty sad lookin my boyfriend got the 3 plate tacos of birria and he rates it a 2.7/5, he was expecting to get the soup alongside it, because he's gotten it from other places, which i think is #valid but this taco of asada...was SO FRIKEN GOOD I HAD TO SIT IN SILENCE EATING IT AND JUST ENJOY ALL THE FLAVORS, I WILL BE BACK FOR THIS TACO DE ASADA overall $30 read more

I tried Moreno Taqueria in Pismo Beach today, and unfortunately, the experience was extremely disappointing. We ordered several quesabirrias and two California burritos. The "quesabirrias" were the biggest disappointment. What arrived bore little resemblance to what I would normally expect from this dish--or, for that matter, to the photos displayed on the menu, which are clearly images from the internet. They were served on small taco-sized tortillas, open-faced, with melted cheese underneath and topped with uneven, noticeably fatty pieces of beef mixed with some birria meat. A proper quesabirria should have a rich, cohesive filling and a large tortilla that is crisped with the cheese and birria working together as a single dish. This version felt poorly conceived and even more poorly executed. The discrepancy between the food served and the menu photography was particularly frustrating. The pictured quesabirrias looked appetizing and quite different from what was actually placed in front of us. The same was true of the California burritos. Unfortunately, the burritos didn't fare much better. They were bland and overwhelmed by an excessive amount of canned refried beans, which dominated the other ingredients and made the burritos feel heavy and unbalanced. Again, the finished product looked and tasted very different from the appealing California burrito depicted on the menu.  The salsa bar also needed considerable attention. At the time of our visit, only red and green salsa were available, while much of the refrigerated display was empty. The green salsa was extremely thin and watery, with very little body or flavor. There were a few dried-out limes in another container, along with onions sitting in a noticeable amount of liquid. More concerning was the general condition of the salsa station itself: the refrigerator appeared dirty and worn, with visible rust and plexiglass lids that had been repaired with tape. It did not present an inviting or well-maintained appearance. I also tried the drinking water from the dispenser. Not much water was left in the dispenser, and the small amount I was able to get had an unpleasant, stale taste. Whether the issue was the water itself or the dispenser, it was enough that I chose not to drink it. What makes the experience especially disappointing is that Moreno Taqueria has a location many restaurants would envy: a prime corner spot in Pismo Beach, only a couple of blocks from the ocean, with the added benefit of on-site parking. There is real potential here. Unfortunately, based on this visit, the quality of the food and the condition of the self-service area simply did not match that potential. The quesabirrias and California burritos, in particular, need significant improvement in both preparation and execution. If these dishes are going to remain on the menu, the kitchen would benefit from revisiting how they are traditionally prepared and ensuring that what reaches the table reasonably resembles what customers are shown and promised on the menu. To say that this was an exceptionally disappointing meal, would be understatement. Based on my experience, I would not return. read more

I very rarely write negative reviews but my experience was just not good at all from start to end. Ambiance is blah and lacking completely, the guy working was not welcoming and I didn't even realize where he was sitting or where to order at first. Food was NOT good. I ordered a bean, cheese, and rice burrito. That's it. It was $16!!! Small, bland, and the rice was so terrible I spit out my last bite before I gave up (fourth bite)..I just couldn't do it. This is a hidden gem and perfect if you have "Sunday morning" cravings for menudo. The restaurant is located in a very small strip mall and next to a beef jerky store -- that initially caught my eye. Earlier during our stay, we were at the bus stop just catty-corner from this place and later decided to stop in for a final meal before moving on to our next adventure. There were absolutely no regrets! Based on the pictures -- which don't do the food nearly enough justice - the burritos were substantial! The food tasted as if your friend's mom made it for you. And, the salsas -- ohemgee! were delicious! I'm not normally a habanero person -- but this salsa added in small dollops was the perfect complement to the menudo -- not that the menudo needed much enhancement. The broth was scrumptious and well seasoned. I could tell that the broth was home-made / hand-made as I could taste the roastedness of it. The menudo was seasoned with even proportions of garlic, mild spice, and just plain good heartiness! And...what's more, is the tripe was CLEAN! There was definitely a lot to try -- but my tummy only had room for the menudo, sadly. Service was great, staff was super friendly and helpful. This place is not to be taken for granted. read more

I ordered the supreme asada burrito it did not come with sour-cream cheese or guacamole. The food was bland the salsa bar was lacking and Very low in ingredients. We requested tap water. Eek! This place changed owners a while back and I took my cousins and their kids here from out of town... Definitely a different experience than when the previous owners were here. Hopefully they've improved, but they messed up a good portion of our orders (about half of 8 orders) and I felt so bad that some were not eating while others had food. Unfortunately the service was pretty poor too, in that they were completely unaware and unapologetic. The ambiance was nice at least and the bathrooms kept up too. I tried the place across the street it was so delicious so I thought I'd give Morenos a chance ... absolute waste of money!! I seen the reviews and they were FAR from being accurate ! The food was HORRIBLE ! It tasted OLD like SOAP and like it was FROZEN! The "birra juice" was straight grease!! I was not able to eat my meal of 40$ at all!! Came for the breakfast burritos, and did not leave disappointed! We tried the bacon and the chorizo breakfast burritos, and each one was huge! When they brought out our food, they forgot one of the burritos, but we let them know and they had the second one out fairly quick so it was fine. Came here for a to-go lunch and the service was quick and pleasant and the food was delicious. I got an order of their chilaquiles, the husband got a super burrito, and we got a kids burrito (which comes with 2 sizable burritos). The food was fresh, cheesy, and delicious and everything was gobbled down as soon as we got back to the hotel room. We are traveling from out of town and wanted to get some fish tacos to go. This place came up first on Yelp with great reviews when we searched "fish tacos". The service was friendly and fast. They asked us to park in to go area for delivery of order to the car. Overall the beans were best at 4.5. Red sauce spicy and delicious. I really enjoyed the green sauce. Flavorful and more mild. Rice was good too. The fish tacos were a little bit of a letdown compared to others we've tasted. Maybe it was just the fish. The pieces were larger and more breading than others and the corn tortillas slightly greasy. Cute and cozy place inside and maybe we will try something else on their menu. read more

Last time we were at Pismo Beach we got the queso Birria tacos and they were amazing. I will definitely go back again.

My boyfriend and I ordered 3 birria tacos each. They were 5 dollars a taco. When we got our food, my boyfriend only received 2 and I got 3. They also never gave either of us the sauce you're supposed to dip the tacos in. The tacos themselves were also pretty bad. Do not go here. read more

The food was bomb.com. We had the quesadilla. a tamal de jalapeño and mozzarella, and a pambazo. So those that have had a pambazo from El DF, it's not necessarily the same, but it's full of flavor. The quesadilla was pretty good, the carne was humbly seasoned (just salt and pepper). The tamal was pretty good. When we talked to the waiter, he was super cool and mentioned some spicier salsas. He gave us a habanero and a salsa macha. Oh, man both of them were super delicious and made the food that much better. My husband liked the green salsa, on the table too...a bit mild for my taste, but if he liked it then others will, too. I like my salsas to burn The place is cool. Sad I didn't snap a pic of our food but nonetheless it was amazing. I got the quesabirrias and they were so delicious! Packed with meat and cheese on a crispy and soft tortilla. They were not shy with the meat and give you some real tasty consomé on the side to dip your tacos into. This place seems to be family owned and operated. Loved the energy of the cashier! She was so funny and sweet, her dad was the nice older gentleman who brought out our food and was also very nice. Dining room was well kept and tidy. We're local here in Pismo and usually have to go to Oceano for good Menudo, but finally somewhere here in Pismo that has great service and excellent food. Today I had the Menudo, my rico, pasta and all! The chips and salsa were homemade as well. The ambiance is peaceful with music in the background. The customer service was excellent, (something that is hard to find these days, especially in youngsters). This is one of the best Mexican taquerias I have ever had. It tasted like home cooking. Everything was delicious and handmade there. We had the chilaquiles with the delicious red sauce that came out nice and crisp. It was combined with rice and refried beans. The quesadilla with chile verde was honestly one of my favorite chile verdes I have ever had. The pork was so soft and the sauce was savory with a hint spice. Moreno's was a descent place. The food was good but it's on the "fast food" category. I ordered the enchilada combo. It was reasonably priced and a good portion. The owner, Nik, was friendly which was definitely plus. There place was welcoming and there was plenty of seating and parking is off street so it's easily accessible. It's a small place on a corner with two other larger Mexican food restaurants right across the street. After one bite of the birria taco, my son said it was the best thing he'd ever had.
