Appreciate the hand made and variety of offerings, however staff do not wear masks so for the time being we will not be back

I frequent this restaurant and always get the same thing: chicken chimichanga with extra cheese and an extra side of sour cream. It is so good, I can't help myself. I eat it with tortilla chips, which are always hot and fresh. The salsa is quite spicy for me, so I dip them ever so slightly in the salsa so I don't totally burn my taste buds off!! The flavor of the salsa is wonderful, just a bit too spicy for me. I get a bottomless soda and they are usually really good about refilling it quickly. This is good because I drink a lot with my meals. The chimichanga is so large that every time I wonder if I can finish it or if I will have to take half of it home. But, each time I end up finishing it. I appreciated that they had a discount for the Morro Bay Winter Bird Festival participants, birding is hard work and we bird nerds need to fill our bellies!! I plan on bringin my family here when they come to visit soon and will most surely dine there at least once a month, bringing cash because they have a credit card fee.

Machaca and eggs also hit the mark of beef tenderness and tastiness. We sat outside because of our dog but the inside has been recently decorated and its fresh and fun Day of the Dead style. Here's what we noticed: - The inside is pretty nice, lighter inside than you would expect from looking at it on the outside because of the skylights. The paint inside is a little tired and there's some cobwebs, etc. around but it still had a nice atmosphere. The chairs and tables are a bit tired, but ok. - The menu is pretty broad, and the prices seemed pretty reasonable. - My wife and I decided to split two different meals, the Al Pastor Burrito (which was served with a small salad) and the combo plate of Sofa and Chili Relleno. The portions on both dishes were really good, such that we took half the burrito home for later. The food was very tasty! - Service was just fine, although it was a pretty quiet time at lunch on a Thursday. Bottom line: This is a solid Mexican place, better than some in the area. We'll come back again, maybe to get take-out next time.

He ordered menudo with the pigs foot and I ordered the chilequilles(?). Mine was yummy, yummy. Hubby thought the Bowl of menudo would've been larger though. He didn't want to add more than chili flakes and a little cilantro & onions because he didn't want to mask the flavor of the broth. It was delicious! And quite surprisingly filled him up with the amount of the serving. We will visit again the next time we're in the area.

Sometimes they get my order right, sometimes they forget the corn tortillas. I called, I'm working from home but I wanted my fix of menudo. I get there and no one is there. Apparently there is only one staff member working the lunch shift on a quiet Saturday at 1 pm on May 9th. Another woman was ahead of me but got tired of waiting and left. I waited patiently because I like their menudo, but only to find out that even though he confirmed Menudo on the phone he not heard soup. The person in the kitchen misgendered me and not having my order ready. This not a great local place and not LGTBQ friendly. And neither employee bothered to apologize. I do not recommend! You lost not just my business but my friends as well.

What really made it stand out was how easy the whole experience was. We called in the order ahead of time, walked over from the state park, and everything was ready for pickup without any hassle. Super efficient and perfect for a camping trip setup when you don't want to deal with a long wait or sit-down meal. The hostess was also incredibly friendly, which made the whole interaction feel welcoming from the start. Big bonus that they're dog friendly too--always appreciated when traveling with a pup. After grabbing food, we explored the nearby trails around the bay, which honestly made the whole experience even better. We'll absolutely be back the next time we're in Morro Bay.

Service was welcoming and friendly, the clam chowder is a must, our drinks stayed filled, and the ambience complimented the calm, cool, friday morning we had earlier on the water. California clam chowder - As described on their menu, it is a mix of their clam chowder and their spicy green chile soup. We absolutely loved this. I appreciate that it was not too salty, something that tends to be for a lot of places that serves clam chowder. There was plenty of clams, as you would expect but I come to find out later on my trip to a fish house in Monterey that this isn't always the case. We will come back to Bayside Cafe just for this. Fish & Chips - This one could have been a lot better. The fries and fish were fried to perfection but would have liked more seasoning since I did not get much from the fish. Drinks: Iced Tea - Sure, Iced tea not sweetened can be the same anywhere else but I don't know what it is but the brew that day was on point. The best part was that our servers made sure we didn't see the bottom. Overall, if they improved upon the flavor on the fish and chips and increased the portion of fries, I think Bayside Cafe would be a solid 5/5. Regardless, their location, clam chowder, and friendly service, is enough for me to return if we go kayaking again!
