We have always enjoyed Chicken Express but I was so dissatisfied this evening. I had not been for over a year because of a really long hospital stay. The chicken tenders were half the size they used to be. I also was disappointed that the option of an extra side rather than a drink is not available with the combo meals even though it is still on the menu on their website!! went 2 weeks ago ordered a family meal .. got 4 wings 4 legs and 4 thighs no breast meat maybe they were out. went again today ordered the family meal and again got 5 wings 5 legs and 2 thighs no breast meat again. some of us don't like wings nor legs we like breast and thighs. Why would you eliminate one of your signature food items - the Southern buttery bisque? Tonight I dined at this location and the restaurant was too cold, as if the heat was turned off ! All the staff was wearing outerwear clothing. We went to the vehicle to retrieve two jackets. The booths were dirty so we sat at a semi-clean table. I asked for slightly sweet tea because of the overly sugary tea. Even though I explained by showing the employee, it was way too sweet. What's happened to this place?! read more

I didn't know it takes three people at one computer to ring up two sauce packets and a medium sweet tea. And this was after the first two times messing up and handing us the wrong sauce and rather than just taking it back and giving me the one I wanted, they wanted to charge me for two additional sauces. One of the three people at the computer was a manager and looked just as lost as the new person they were training. If you can, NEVER come here if you want average customer service and your food within 15 minutes. 1 star, would NOT recommend. read more

I'm a Senior Citizen and have been getting the Fish fillets, at the College Station store, when we noticed they had it available, My order was incomplete ( missing roll), called store, Manager said "Come back or next time, we'll replace items " When I went in tried to get roll, they said it was over their limit of over a week...( last week was Memorial Day events so I missed going in...). They said Owners would be upset??? It's really sad that Owners would be upset for Ninety-Nine cents!?! When I got home The Tatar Sauce was missing??!!! I don't know why this place gets a lot of hate / complaints. I go to this specific chicken express and every single time I go I get really good customer service. The food is always hot and fresh. They never mess up orders because they repeat your order back to you when you order. If you're in the mood for fried chicken I would definitely recommend this place read more

We drove in from Houston and traveled an hour and 19 mins for two things: 1) Visit the George Bush Presidential Library and Museum 2) have lunch at Chicken Express! Was immediately warmly greeted by Paul (the manager) who made us feel welcome and put a smile on our face with his kind professionalism after he found out we were from Houston. The prices were good and the selection was full of so many wonderful items to choose.... Chicken tenders were perfectly cooked and were amazing and much better than Raising Cane's or Zaxby's. The gizzards and livers blew my mind - never had them so good. We'll make the drive back again soon for more of this incredible example of good 'ol fashioned Texas home style food and hospitality. Been here quite a few times. About 50% of the time the chicken is too salty to eat. Other times it's pretty good. Tonight, picked up our tenders and they were just awful. Not sure why this is so hit and miss. Don't think we'll visit this location again definitely a pattern. read more

Picked up an order to go with 12 pieces and when we got home to sit down and eat dinner three of them were clearly very old and inedible. When we called the location and spoke to the managers they would not provide a credit for those pieces unless we brought the old pieces back. Explained that due to the weather we would not bring them back and I also explained that I had already thrown them in the trash. We had attempted to eat them and pulled apart the pieces during that process, and I was unwilling to dig up the pieces from the trash. The manager asked me to dig in the trash and collect the random pieces and put them in a plastic baggie and bring them back the next morning, so they could replace the three pieces. After calling the owner Brit, he proceeded to explain to me that they have a lot of people trying to rip them off and get free food. He would not refund or provide a credit for three pieces chicken. His explanation confirmed that this location is simply serving substandard food. Too bad. And if people are complaining you may want to listen. Lack of customer service and will not be going back to either location. There is a good book called, Give them the Pickle. Would be a good read for running your business. It seems rational tis lost on the owner and I hope the business suffers as a result. Adding to the comments post review. Have not been there and will not return. Again, I do not recommend. Overall I like this place a lot. I gotta say this location knows customer service. I have always been greeted cordially and checked on multiple times during my visits. I really like to see management walk around and check in with customers. The chicken is always decent and fresh. While I am not a huge fan of the batter (I prefer a more thick almost shell like batter) the taste is definitely decent. It seems like they are on the ball with chicken rotation. Also nice to see they have the proper system for storage after frying. I always like my chicken about 20 mins old so the chicken is able to sweat a bit. Corn nuggets and other sides are dropped to order! Restaurant is always clean. Looking into the kitchen I can see it is well cared for as well. Ok, so fast food is not healthy, and this place is so NOT healthy at all, but it is addictive. We usually get the four tender combos. Most of the time, the chicken portions are a good size (a couple times the tenders were quite tiny). We love the mashed potatoes, corn nuggets, cole slaw, and fried okra sides. It kind of stinks that you have to pay extra for packaged sauces (like honey mustard) though. We used to get their highly addictive sweet tea, but have stopped once we learned the sugar content. I was in town and decided to stop by chicken express before heading back to Houston. Customer service was awesome and even with a little wait I didn't mind thinking I was getting my food fresh. I got back to a friends house to eat before leaving down and my fried pickles had no batter on them. Just simply pickles put in the fryer. They tasted rubber as well as my chicken tenders. Went thru the drive thru ordered chicken tenders they were not hot. Called the manager he told me they didn't give refunds they can only swap out. I asked about changing my order when I made it there to hotwings he told me 8 minutes and then immediately stated officially he's not suppose to change my order and that's what he firmly stuck with he didn't change my order.... I guess sticking firmly to your policy. I told him just keep the money and the chicken. Long story short go to Raisin canes or Laynes. I wouldn't feed this to my Min Pin. Not a good meal. Tenders crust was whiter then the chicken it's self. The taste of the breading was off and left a bad after taste. Roll was good. Frys hot. But that's about all I can say good. When your business is chicken I think you would be all about the chicken. read more

The food it very good, and the tea is excellent as well. They chicken is always fresh when we buy it and the fries are fresh too. The prices are exceptional, and customer service is what really counts in my book. The over all customer service was a 9 out of 9! While I am far from a regular here, I do tend to stop in once every month or so when I'm in the mood for less greasy chicken than some of the other chicken strip places. The service has always been fast. The staff have always been friendly.
