the service was so so when me and my coworkers came here for lunch. We had a short time to order and eat so it was annoying that our waitress disappeared when we were ready to order. On the other hand the food was good, I had the Friday special which was tilapia and it was really good and seasoned so well. Also I got the cinnamon apples but they were supposed to replace the green beans not the rice. However I didn't have time to complain. Well, I guess we hit it right. Great server and great food! I am a native to the area, but now live in Arizona. When I'm in town, I enjoy a good southern meal. Cotton Patch Cafe fit the bill perfectly! We dropped by for lunch and was seated right away. Cris, our server was pleasant and very attentive. She got our chicken fried bacon order in right away to get it out first and then took the rest of the order. The chicken fried bacon was good, but rich. Just a couple of pieces will do. I think I will drink the rest of the gravy! Yum. The rest of our order came out quickly. I had country fried steak fingers and my wife had chicken and dumplings. Both really delicious. Did I mention that their country gravy is the best! To wrap it up, we had some churro fries for dessert. Also rich, but a nice sweet complement to lunch. Chicken fried steak delicious -/ chicken and dumplings was more like soup and wasn't hot but was tasty -/ beef tips was heavy on the mushrooms and lite on meat but very tasty. Rolls are amazing. Tea is great. Server was too soft spoken or due to the loudness of the music, the communication was a little trouble Needs a little TLC in the cleaning department I'd try it again because I think it was an off night. We visited for dinner on a Sunday. Service was decent but was pleasantly surprised by the flavor & quality of food. The dinner rolls were soft and warm. The chicken fried steak was good, the chicken fried brisket was sub-par. The service was slow and not as attentive. I have always loved the Cotton Patch in Lufkin. This was my first time to try the one in Bryan. My boyfriend and I were sat quickly in a booth. However, we waited 15 to 20 minutes and were never waited on. We tried to find a server but they were all behind the line chitchatting. We decided to eventually leave. read more

We always stop here for lunch or dinner whenever we're at A&M. If you enjoy country style cooking then this is the place. I know there's a few restaurants in Houston but we've yet to try it only because we feel it's a thing we do only in College Station lol. Ok so we've been a few times and this is the first time I'm reviewing. The chicken fried chicken with gravy is super moist and both the gravy and green beans were packed with that homemade from scratch taste. The turkey and dressing plate wasn't the Thanksgiving taste I was hoping for but this night it just sounded good. The turkey tasted more along the lines of imitation and the gravy had the packaged flavor (how do I know, because I make it that way when I'm pressed for time ) the fried okra was delicious! The fish platter my daughter said was good and I will say- when it came out I didn't smell any fish/seafood which is wonderful! The one downfall we noticed are the portion sizes seem to have shrunk. The waitress and staff are always super friendly and welcoming which is why we'll continue to stop in when we are there. read more

Was NOT impressed. The rolls were tasty but everything else was very generic. Mac n cheese tasted like elbow pasta with Valveeta. I can do this at home. Fries tasted like Wendy's fries. Don't get me wrong... I LOVE Wendys fries-but for a restaurant, I'd expect something more unique. Soft drinks tasted watered down. The Meatloaf was mushy and had a basic "ketchup" sauce. The Chicken Tender basket was bland, according to my daughter, who generally prefers bland food. Would think long and hard about visiting again. read more

Past couple of times we've been there, the food is barely lukewarm. The same thing happened today. Order chicken fried steak, which was hot and pretty good. The vegetables are barely warm and just don't taste that good. I keep going back, hoping it will be different, but it's pretty much the same way each time we go. Service was fine, I sat at the bar. They brought back the Shiner Fish & Chips for Lent, so that's nice. Well, except it wasn't very good. The batter wasn't as good as I remember and they didn't let it drain enough. They gave me a small amount of fries and set the fish (3 generous portions) on top, soaking the fries in grease. Maybe when they were always serving this dish they got really good at it and now they're out of practice. Oh well so much for nostalgia. This place don't even deserve a star. We went to eat in person and my husbands salad had a hair (looked like an ayelash) in the dressing. He didn't wanted to eat anymore so they gave us the plate he order to go. Next day he warmed up the plate (it was closed) in the microwave. Don't believe the hype! We are regular customers at this particular Cotton Patch restaurant. At least two or three times a week. My husband and I through the week and a family and church group on the weekends. This past Saturday, we had relatives here from our of town. We all went to the Cotton Patch. I was so disappointed at the NON-SERVICE we recieved! The Hostess was working the floor, and she never looked our way, nor any of the waitstaff as we stood and waited at the front desk. I thought we had become invisible! We waited at least 10 minute and NO ONE ever came to assist us. We went to Sodolax and received excellent food and service. After a long day of touring 8 rv parks and a visit to the A &M campus, my friend and I rolled into this location starving!!! Although this wasn't my friend's 1st visit, this was my 1st and we had a lot of questions. From the moment we walked in the door, the lovely hostess welcomed us with a warm, huge smile. Then we had the pleasure of having Sara as our waitress. The beautiful Sara was so kind and patient. We appreciated her honesty and remaining patient as we asked dozens of questions and her opinions. As our food arrived at our table, Carla, the manager, took the time to check on our experience. Again, we were greeted with such genuine kindnes and sincerity. The Mushroom Swiss Cken Fried Steak, sides, and raspberry ice teas were delicious! Overall all experience was great and memorable. Portions were great and costs were so affordable. I ate here for lunch with my wife today. I had the cheese burger. Extremely juicy and flavorful, and the fries were tasty. The wait staff was also extremely cheerful and helpful. The one thing I would like to be a bit better is to have the fries be a bit more cooked. They were in no way under cooked, but I personally like them a bit more crispy. The food was good. Service was iffy. Ordered one meal and got a similar but different one. Salad was served with instead of before the meal, a few other details were mis -managed. We had to ask repeatedly for take home boxes (like I said, the food was good). Biggest "really Cotton patch??!?" Moment was when I'm talking to my husband I realized the prices in the menu were not quite true. Apparently in some effort to look fancy, our meals on the menu were listed as 12 and 13 dollars respectively. The receipt listed each as 12.99 and 13.99. Maybe that's done in the big cities, but I'm thinking around here that is just plain wrong. read more

Our server was nice in taking our orders, but did not clear the appetizers lates and tray,l for the entire dinner, and did not com back to ask if we wanted a dessert or if we were ready for the check... also, got hit on by proxy, kinda funny and whatever, but added to the overall service it seems like there is not a value of service... and there weren't many customers when we went.
