Okay, I was wondering if all the restaurants that are on this Haslet-Avondale exit by Walmart were slow. And I've successfully found out firsthand, yes. Yes, all the fast food restaurants are slow. Including this one. Our food itself was cooked fresh. However, I'm guessing the food had to be cooked fresh for EACH person in line because the wait was ridiculous. A good 15 minutes at least. My tenders are always, no matter which location I've visited, overly bready! They are too crunchy and ends up making my teeth hurt. I've learned to pull apart the chicken and take the breading off before attempting to eat. That being said I LOVE LOVE their rolls. It's so sad but I'm not recommending ANY fast food joints on this exit to anyone. My advice: run inside Walmart on this exit and grab something from the grab n go section. I promise it'll be way faster. Or else just drive further down to where Target is, there's plenty of better choices. (Not that Wendy's though, they are absolutely horrid.) read more

Waited over 20 minutes for the order, only to get home and discover we didn't receive our fried okra OR mac & cheese. Ordered on the way home from an appointment and had to finish work, so I called the store number listed on Apple Maps. The person who answered apologized and agreed that if I was willing to come back after work they would comp my meal. I thought Chicken E could perhaps right its wrong after all... WRONG again. The kid managing the store said "yeah I don't think that's been updated..." as if it didn't seem to be a problem (Kaid answered the phone "Chicken Express," I'm sure he LAUGHS his @$$ off), then stared at me dazed and confused on what to do... after about 15 minutes and no sense of urgency to restore customer service, I got okra and mac & cheese - no meal comp. I went to this location almost 20 minutes before close and waited at the drive thru speaker for 5 minutes before pulling up to the window. Once i pulled up to the window another 5 minutes passed before i knocked ok the glass. Once they answered the said the POS (Registers/ Point of Sales) was turned off for the night. I get that it was 20 minutes before closing and it was basically 3 high schoolers but still. Very disappointed/disappointed in the way chicken express has gone downhill in the past 10 years. If I could give this location zero stars, I would. I have been to this location multiple times and each time they never have chicken ready and they are generally just standing around inside. It is always a 20 min wait no matter what time of day. I believe that they tell you that with the hopes that you won't want to wait the 20 min and will drive away and they won't have to actually work. I waited 40 min one night because the guy who took my order got the order wrong and, after waiting the standard 20 min, they had to start over. They also lock the lobby doors well before the posted closing hours (hours say 10pm, doors are locked at 8pm) so the drive through is the only option for this 20 min wait. They really should hire an entire new staff or close their doors. read more

seriously read this, the worker who took my order and gave me my food seemed like she just had a problem with everything and anything. first of all, your working at chicken express, out of all places, chicken express was your option. not too surprised after seeing you at the window. anyway, i asked for a certain item and she made fun of the way i said it. (i have a speach impediment due to being blasted with a bomb in the army.) i thought she knew what i was talking about, but no, i didnt even get the stuff i wanted because she decided laughing at the fact i pronounced something wrong was more important than actually putting it on my order. secondly, i was at the window, the girl was talking to another girl, mind you im a 62 year old man, and pointing and laughing at me. i have no clue what is up with these fast food chains hiring these 16 year old that just wanna gossip instead of work. when i got home with the food to feed my wife and 2 kids - yes, at 62 years old i still got it on, everyone was dissatisfied. our large sides came in 2 small cups. we ordered a family sized mashed potato, a family sized macaroni, and the other thing that apparently i can not pronounce. spoiler alert, we only got 2 small sides of mashed potatoes and 2 of the macaroni. how am i supposed to feed my kids who only like macaroni with only 2 small sides? now they are going to be starving for the rest of the night because i aint coming back. zero stars. read more

Been to this specific location a few times and I have to say they are always on top of their game. Chicken is fresh and the biscuits just melt in your mouth. Very polite and service is definitely A+; plus the grounds are always clean which tells you that they care about their store. read more

I've been to this location at least 10 times. I grew up in N Texas so I've been eating chicken E as long as I remember. I don't know if it's this location specifically but quality isn't the same. I will say the chicken has improved in the last month but still not what it used to be. But my biggest complaint is the gravy; it's so watered down it makes the potatoes and chicken gross. (Think: dip a chicken tender in watery peppered milk) Rolls are now a squished square pancake thing, but they still taste great, so not a big issue. $12 for a 4 piece tender meal I understand because of inflation had food quality remained a priority but quality isn't the same. I'm sure the tenders will improve as the poultry situation levels and supply chain gets better but honestly my biggest issue is the gravy. Stop watering the gravy down so much. Never had an issue with the service; employees have always been friendly and efficient. You can tell, like most places, they're understaffed so have patience with the employees. read more

Food is below average for your normal Chicken E but I wanted to point out that an employee who was boxing up or platting food was wearing pants that kept sagging. The employee constantly had to reach back, and pull the pants back up. When doing this, the employees thumb would go inside the waist band, touching the underwear right where the employees butt crack would be. Then the employee would go right back to handling food. This was a first for me!!! I've never ever ever had bad food at any Chicken E! Food was so greasy we were both unable to finish it! Fried in old grease! Tea, which is my favorite over any other was another issue... black gunk came out of the dispenser. The cashier told us it was just the tea and I said no it's the filth from tea that's not be cleaned out of the dispenser properly. Then go into ladies restroom and there was no toilet paper in the dispenser... a hard to handle roll laying on top. Then washed my hands... no paper in that dispenser but a roll on top! We ordered in the drive thru and the lady working it was just very uninviting. no "thank you for choosing chicken express" or anything, just a "order when youre ready". no complains whatsoever until we opened the box. they forgot every roll, and the gravy that came in my #1 is liquid and sloshes like milk, though they attempted to make up for it with 10 tenders in the box instead of the anticipated 4. also cross contamination is a huge no for me, and my regular tenders were off the walls spicy. will not be going again, somebody really needs to put this place in check. read more
