Just came to this location. The worker that took my order was extremely rude. And did not mind the attitude that she was expressing. I guess it goes with the name. Change to attitude express. This young lady has no manners and it makes it is a reflection of this establishment. I would talk to manager but I doubt it would make a difference as it appears it is allowed. I don't care how cheap this place is, I would rather pay extra for better customer service. Not sure what the problem is here but it seems to be all over the place as far as management/staff. When we pulled up to the window we were charged and given the completely wrong order. And they forgot the drink that went with the order. Not that big of a deal because it was fixable. But when they fixed our order, they forgot the fries so we had to go back in. And when we asked for more of their "serendipity" sauce, she gave us 4 little packs total with a 20 piece tender order + other items. Really? After driving off we realized they forgot our drink again. It's too much of a hassle to drive back again. After the prior times they messed up we didn't even get any sort of compensation just a dry sorry. Not that we're looking for anything free out of this but seriously what a hassle. I love chicken express! I'm there nearly every saturday. It's sad cuz the cashier recognizes me now. The chicken is always good and the fries are awesome. Their biscuits could use some work as they used to be better but their rolls are really good so I just get those now. I also enjoy the sweet tea. I like how they don't charge for the extra sauces you can get. One thing I wish they had that the San Marcos CE has is the student special. 5 tenders, a side, roll/biscuit and a drink for $6.50 even. Two and a half stars is well deserving. I'm here no less than twice usually three times a week buying gallons of tea at a time. At least 50% of the time the tea is unsweetened when the label says it's sweet or the tea is just plain spoiled because new tea was mixed with old tea. What bothers me even more (which is the case today) is when I order one large tea and have to wait 10 minutes behind the guy at the window because no one takes the initiative to walk it out the door to me and collect my $1.00. Twice I have come at around 5:30 to get dinner for the family only to be told it will be a 10 minute wait because chicken is not ready. What!!!!!! This is a chicken place. You should be prepared for people coming to get chicken for dinner. So Popeye's it was and I never realized Popeye's chicken tenders were so good. We used to drive all the way to San Marcos for Chicken Express so we were happy to have one closer. So far the experience has been just as good as the San Marcos location which means we'll be here often! The only reason they don't get 5 stars is due to their prices. I've been here a few times, and it's always been the worst service. I'm the manager of a restaurant, and honestly, I prefer to not bad-mouth people on Yelp, so I've kept quiet, until now. The first time we went, spent $60 on chicken for a small group of people over for a football game. It was disgustingly salty. So gross. We ate the sides (corn nuggets, rolls, mashed potatoes) and that's it. Couldn't eat anything else, the chicken or the gravy, as it tasted like pure salt. The girl in the drive-thru was super rude, but ok, I totally get it, you're having a bad day. Second time was much of the same... my brother talked me into going. We had a bigger crowd, so we ordered more food. Over $100 in the drive-thru. This time, the chicken was awesome! Tasted great!!!! But... they forgot about half of our sides. It's ok, right? Because we ordered so much stuff. Again, I get it. Let's not say anything. Well. Tonight, I drive through at 9:30. Try to order. The girl tells me "we close at 10" OK... I check my clock. It's 9:29. So I ask, "ok, so can I order?" She unpleasantly responds "we are closed, we close at 10". Whyyyyyy are you closing 30 minutes early? It's Sunday, it's slow, I understand it. I've been there. But you know what? I don't turn money away at 30 minutes to close. Maybe 3 minutes till. Or 3 minutes after. And if I could give this place zero stars, I would. Cause you know what? Normally, the food here, and at other locations, is very good. The customer service keeps getting worse. Crew is different every time we're there. Simple minded, robotic people who keep asking "for here or to go" and "biscuit or roll" and then go catatonic while you're giving your order. I love Chicken Express! ....But this location in Kyle has a lot of work to do. I'm not one to post reviews because maybe I just could have been in the wrong place at the wrong time but 3 times in a row warrants a cause for concern! First of all the food was good, no complaints there. My issues with this location is the speed of service, customer service, and cleanliness. I ordered a simple number one with fries and a sweet tea, as I go to fill up my tea the container lid is open with Stainless Steel polish spray all over the dispenser. I know this to be true because they left the can and rag on the drink station. I waited for 20 minutes on my food and watched the 3 orders behind me receive theirs promptly (2 orders included large families). As I stood quietly waiting, my food finally was delivered to me with the worker dropping it off and walking away quickly, leaving me once again waiting for an employee to come back so I could ask for some "serendipity" seasoning, in which this product was just thrown on the counter in aggravation. I really love this Chicken chain and recommend over all others, I hope this yelp! review reaches someone that can make a difference but for "now" I'll go elsewhere. read more

I was in Kyle, but live in Dripping Springs, and purchased 53.00 in chicken, sides and 2 blackberry pies. When I got back home found that the mashed potato side was a mac & cheese and no blackberry pies. When I called back to ask if I could get a coupon mailed for the mistakes they made I was told that I would have to come back in within 2 weeks or they had no way to reimburse me. Sweet tea is very sweet, so if that is your taste then get it, food here is cheaper than most other fried chicken joints and they are always fast, and never usually a line in there. The chicken can sometimes lack a little flavor, I don't think they use a lot of spices when compared to KFC or Popeyes. Their fries and mozzarella sticks are great, the Mac and cheese tastes pre made out of a frozen tray. Other than the Mac their sides are always good. read more

Just visited this place tonight, for the first time, on the recommendation of a friend. My friend likes it, cuz she can get fried chicken gizzards there. And man, were they good! This is what all we bought & tried tonight. Fried chicken, chicken gizzards (they also have chicken livers); corn on the cob, fried pickles, fried okra, fried jalepeno poppers, fried fish, hush puppies, country gravy, biscuits & rolls. The gizzards were outstanding, crispy & we ate them, dipped them in country gravy.The chicken & fish were equally good; fresh, hot & crispy. I like thier tarter sauce, its not overly sweet or tart for me. Pickles & okra were equally as tasty. Pickles were not as crispy as everything else, and I'm thinking its a different batter, same with the poppers, different batter, I think: but with the cheese & jalepeno combo, these were over all as tasty as any I can think of having. I eat poppers from Jack in the box, frequently, and these are just as good, if not better. The yeast rolls, were light & airy, slightly sweet, & perfect for dipping in the country gravy. The biscuits, I didn't try until, later, when I got home. They had hardened slightly by then, and I only took a nibble, since they had lost the competition, to all the other great crispy fried food before me. The worst was the corn on the cob, and even then, I still ate some. It was somehow water logged & not very sweet. I doctored it with butter, salt & pepper, but the corn flavor was just not there. I would highly recommend this place based on the crispy variety of foods they offer, esp. the gizzards, because those are hard to come by. I give it 5 stars, because, although the corn was soggy, overall, it was a tasty treat, with chicken & fish as good as any others that I've had recently AND I will also add that the line on cars for the drive thru was wrapped around the building, so we went in to order. They were polite in taking my order, and it was a large order, around $40, and it took longer to fill. (To be honest, I have no idea how long.... but couldn't have been that long.) I say this, because my friend had ordered before me, & she got hers before I even filled my drink. We just sat down & talked & started eating her meal of gizzards, gravy & one roll, when out came a nice gentleman, who apologized for the time it was taking & asked if I would like 2 free gallons of tea, for the wait. Now, that's good customer service! We hadn't even finished the gizzards between the two of us. Which brings me to another reason why I'm giving 5 stars: the gizzards are pretty large & the portions were generous. This was my first experience at a Chicken Express. I will definitely be back. I used to live in New Braunfels so I'm very familiar with Chicken Express and had always loved their food. The location in Kyle has little to be desired and I keep hoping they will get it together so I continue to go back. Today we spent $32 on dinner for my family of 5. I went through the drive thru and our order was handed to me with a "here ya go"... Not a thank you or come again but just "here ya go". When we got home our order was missing the gravy that went with the chicken strips. Another time they didn't give me change and most of the time they are very slow! Chicken Express needs to spend less on a sign spinner and concentrate on training their employees customer service skills.
