Ok, I've been Rowlett resident for many years. Chicken Express has been known as pretty good place in town to get some fried chicken. However the owners of that place really suck when it comes to customer service. For example I stopped by there to pick up a box of chicken for my family. I ordered an extra side of family fries. I drove all the way home. And the fries were missing. Thought I would call the owner/manager and let her know. She replies "I'm sorry if I could drive over to your house and bring them, I would. But since I'm busy here. I can't." I was shocked by her response, because no one ever mentioned driving to my house. She promised me an order of family fries next time I came in. I never asked for them. However the other night I was grocery shopping at Walmart and decided to pick up some fried chicken to take home. When i arrived it was around 8:30 pm. There was no one in the restaurant and no one in the drive thru. I walked in and saw a couple of the employees eating or taking a break. There about 3 young kids talking behind the register. I placed my order, and all of sudden there were other customers that came in after me. The kid behind the register starts chit-chatting with them. And then he takes their order and gives them their sweet tea. And then another customer came in and order her food. And he is chit-chatting with her. Meanwhile, no one is preparing my order. The two kids working the windows are getting orders out. And I'm waiting. The owner and his wife come out the back office and clearly he's chewing on some food. And his wife is walking around with a drinking cup in her hand and I have a pissed off look on my face. But I never complained. She walks up to the counter and asks. "What are you waiting on?" I reply, "my order." She then says " duh, I know you have an order." I told her that I had been waiting there awhile and no one was preparing my order. Then she asked me how long had I been waiting. I told I didn't know but clearly my order was being made. I told her, "look I'm not complaining. I just want my order and I want to go home." She proceed to tell we'll it's the look on your face. REALLY???? It's the look of an unhappy customer you stupid (blank- I won't cuss). Anyway I will never go back. I'll drive to Rockwall or Garland if I want fried chicken. read more

I like their food but they are anything but express! They have the slowest service EVER!! I have been in their drive through so long that I finally gave up and went down the street to Popeyes. Doesn't seem to matter what time of day either. It's always tragically slow. There's Canes, Popeyes, and KFC all within a 1/2 mile. Better off going there. read more

I have recently noticed that every time I order a 7 piece express tenders, I get home to find I only have 4 or 5. At first, I thought it was a simple mistake, but after the 5th time I've decided that someone is not paying attention or the employees have been instructed to short the number of tenders in each order. Do yourself a favor and check your meal to make sure it's accurate before you get home to eat it. read more

We love this chicken express, the chicken is always hot and crispy. The few cons are the "tip spot" on the receipt. This annoys me as all they do is give me my food. Really annoying in the drive thru. Sometimes the wait is long but I prefer hot , fresh chicken. This Chicken Express is about 4$ cheaper on family meals than the one in Rockwall, employees are also friendlier here. The older manager is super friendly. Love the food (except the biscuits are generally petrified), but the service at this location is horrendous! Today while ordering I asked if the biscuits were fresh and in a I could care less tone she said, "I don't know..." I pulled up to the window and she rudely told me to sign the credit card receipt. I looked in the box and the honey mustard that I asked for wasn't in there (for the 4th time in a row) and the gravy I didn't want was in the box. I was then informed that they were out. When I got home, I discovered my second side was missing. There were about 5 teens running the place and the rude girl was manning customer service. Had to wait 30 minutes in line behind 5 cars to get my meal. Two cars got frustrated in front of me and just left.

This place has really went down hill over the past 6 months or so. Today, I went through the drive thru and they told me it would take 5 minutes for my order then asked me to pull forward. Well, 15 minutes later it came out. The person delivering it seemed to have an attitude too. Then worst of all, went I got home (4 minutes later) the food was either not cooked completely or had sat out before they brought it to me and was cold. First I would like to say their chicken is really good most times but not anymore at this location. We ordered a family dinner and had to wait almost 20 min. When we opened the box of chicken it was not hot at all and very greasy. We were upset after waiting that long for cold chicken. We called back to the restaurant spoke to the manager she was not very helpful and very confrontational. She offered to replace our chicken if we brought the receipt back and the chicken. Are you kidding me? We live about 12 min away. She said she will replace it but what about our time driving back up there? We will make another block to Golden Chick from now on. It had been awhile since I stopped at Chicken Express so I checked several online sites for menu prices before stopping to get food for the Fourth of July. All sites gave the price for a 25 tender family dinner as $26.49. and $3.59 for an additional family side. I hurriedly ran in and grabbed these (the family tender dinner came with 2 sides) and paid $39.27. It was my fault for not checking the menu prices in the store, but it appears they have increased prices substantially (family meal for 25 tenders is now $31.49 and the family sides are now $4.49). Either the prices for the chicken went up $5 in the last month or so or I was charged for the 30 piece family dinner (which is listed as $31.49). If the later, then I should have gotten the other side free (the 30 piece comes with 3 family sides). The prices are outrageous for chicken. I only stopped here because my grandsons like it, but I will never buy from Chicken Express again. All 6 of us could have gone to a regular restaurant to eat for nearly $40, considering the boys are young. I will say that the food was good, but the prices or price increase are outrageous. Food is good, employee are great. The Manger of the store is not good of managing customers' service... We ordered $50 meals and they forgot to put coleslaw in the bag after we went home.. My husband called for asking refund coleslaw price. Manager said they cannot refund. The manger's attitude is not good when she talked to my husband on the phone... They want us drive back to get refund in person... Of course we won't want to do that. It's their fault of not checking items before handing items to customers.. why we need to waste gas and time to drive back...That is not make a sense!! Then she asked an employ to sent a coleslaw to us , which is not a good idea.. We don't want to let her know our address...and who knows what we will get from coleslaw.. maybe they would spit inside the coleslaw.. but we don't have choice.. Really?? cannot refund us ??? Then, a employee bring a coleslaw came to our home... He, Louise is a newer and apologized to us very well and kind....I asked if he got trouble from manger, He of course said no. and said manager treat them very well...which I doubt... If she treats customers not so nice, how come she would treat her employees well?? We all understand mistake happens... and that new employee has great attitude and better attitude to us than his manager... maybe He needs to be manager instead of her.... She needs to learn how to deal with customers from him,Louise... I saw a review on here that said they have the Best Gizzards! I used to TOTALLY agree. I worked for Bodin Concrete when they poured the concrete for Chicken Express, which is when I first started eating at this location. A while back I started noticing that their gizzards and even the liver had no flavor, tough and just not what I had always loved about the place.... I have gone back several times and each time, the gizzards are just Gross! I went to the Rockwall location after a Dr's appt and asked them if they still 'marinated' their gizzards, they said they did and that all locations did, I told them that was not the case, Rowlett does no such thing, I even asked them to refund my money one time because they didn't serve what Chicken express is known for, needless to say, I wasn't given a refund, but I still gave them back. My sister moved back from Florida 2 weeks ago, she chose Chicken Express as her Welcome Home Dinner - This time, not only were the gizzards tough and tasteless, the chicken had no flavor either. Why can't they just brine the chicken and the gizzards like they used to, like all the rest of the locations do? I miss my gizzards!
