Young lady at window tonight was very rude and snippy when she mentioned a delay on one of the items I had ordered and wanted to know if I still wanted it. I said, yes. Then she told me to wait up front. Before I drove up, I asked about my drink and was told it would be brought out with food. She brought the food bag to my car when ready. I again asked about the drink as I did not see it in her hands, not realizing there was another employee out of my line of sight holding it. I ordered a 4 tender meal. The tenders were barely warm so I asked for fresh tenders. The guy stared at me for a while and said we don't have any fresh tenders. Then he said it would take 10 min. That's fine, I don't mind waiting. He gave me the box of tenders that was piping hot. I was about a half mile down the road and tried to take a bite of my tenders and couldn't. When I first heard of Chicken express my friend complimented them a lot and even claiming they are the best fried chicken ever. So when the Alvin location was put in I was excited to try it out. It was a huge disappointment. Everything is always cold and little to no flavor. But, I was willing to try another location. This brings me to frustration with this location. I walked in thinking this was already off to a great start! Really clean place with people eating and a busy drive thru. I ordered two number 1s with fries and rolls for my wife and I and an extra roll. I had to repeat, what I believed to be a simple order, three times. That's fine, I could tell the woman I was speaking to was distracted with other customers but ignored it. Then I got my food. Wife had fresh and hot chicken and fries. I had cold chicken and warm fries. Two fries in and I find a hair. It's gonna happen at every restaurant so I wasn't too bothered. I told the lady about it and she apologized and brought me fries 2 minuets later that we're fresh out of the fryer. Half way through my fries and guess what I found? Another hair. At this point everything has added up, I've finished what I hoped to be clean, but cold, chicken and decided to just leave. One HUGE thing that every kitchen needs to abide by is hair nets. I first became a fan of Chicken Express in East Texas. Overall, I give them three stars. I would give them four stars based upon three items: chicken strips, biscuits, and rolls. They have some of the best chicken strips I have ever had from anywhere. They seem to always be fresh and delicious. I'll admit that I am normally ordering the family size orders so the varying size of the strips doesn't bother me too much. If I were simply ordering a 4 piece meal and got all small pieces, I could see where other Yelpers may get upset. However, today I once again ordered the family size strips with sides. They were one of the very limited choices of restaurants we had to choose from during Hurricane Harvey clean up. Many other restaurants in the area had flooded and were closed. After pulling wet drywall all morning, these chicken strips tasted even better. Their biscuits and rolls are always delicious too. On the flip side, I can only give them two stars for their sides. I am not a huge fan of their sides. Many people rave over their corn nuggets (deep fried corn kernels) but I don't like them. The okra is average. The mashed potatoes are like every other fried chicken place. The mac & cheese is one of the better sides but even it isn't great. Bottom line: If you are looking for excellent chicken strips (four stars), this is the place. Just don't expect miracles from the sides (two stars). Bon appétit. read more

This is my 3rd time to come here since it opened not long ago and it's quickly becoming a family fav! The chicken tenders are juicy and perfect and my oldest son who is super picky I might add loves their fish fillet combo.
