Been here before but I've been craving it recently for a particular reason I'll mention later on. First, I gotta give praise to the decor and layout. Very vibrant and unique, with a neat outdoor area and amazing TV placement for those who care about that. Even their to-go counter is well decorated and themed! I can't comment on the atmosphere since both times I've been it's been relatively quiet, but I'd imagine on a busy night this place could have a fun atmosphere. Joshua was our server and he did a good job, and our food came out relatively fast, so no issues with service. As for the food however, I can't be as positive. Last time I had the Mahi Mahi and thought it was fine enough. This time I decided to try one of their burgers. I'll be honest, I like my burgers pretty plain, which is its own can of worms. Point being, the bun tasted very odd and almost stale, and the patty was very mushy and lacked flavor. The signature sauce was also unappetizing, with it being some sort of distant cousin of mustard or potentially a very odd Thousand Islands? I'm not sure if additional toppings would save this considering the unappealing foundation. It just left me very unfulfilled. The milkshakes on the other hand? Fantastic. Definitely the highlight. It was just as good as the last time I went. I haven't been to many other places that matches the quality of here. Could not recommend more. I've yet to try the chicken or other fish so I can't comment on their quality. All I'm gonna say is, burger lovers maybe approach with a grain of salt. 3/5 read more

A surprising fact about the small'ish city (#1) of Dickinson is the fact there is no shortage of burger places. The most well known of the bunch has to be TJ Reed's Flippers (#2), which not only has the popular vote but is among the most highly regarded businesses in this part of the Bay area. It's also not hard to see why: the food is hearty, the service is excellent, ad the place has the vibe where there's a seat for everyone. It's a colorful spot, with a blend of convivial decor that immediately gives off family friendly vibes and is one of the most group friendly spots I've seen. It's also a low-key sports bar with TVs playing across the room, including several at the bar, which is perfect for solo dining. The ample seating makes this place an ideal group dining destination and no shortage of natural light throughout the day. Their burgers are the type where it's so stacked that a pick has to be inserted to keep it together. The patty is thicc enough to satiate most burger enthusiasts, but I'm all for a solid double patty. (#3) After pairing it with any of their potato options (french fries, tater tots, or sweet potato fries), consider topping it off with an indulgent milkshake for the ultimate comfort food meal. If I'm feeling extra generous, I'll throw in lots of extras including bacon, fried eggs, avocado, and some American cheese. Many folks are sleeping on the fact they offer an extensive selection of seafood with some Cajun flair, We're talking shrimp and grits, catfish with shrimp etouffee, boudin balls, gulf oysters, red fish, mahi mah, crab friggers, and even ceviche. Their seafood stuffed jalapeños and shrimp po'boy are both underrated. The engine that makes all of this run is the owner, Nisha. She's one of the sweetest owners I've come across and has lots of energy to keep her customers smiling for more. The best burger in this side of town hands down! Service is always great, chill atmosphere and their shakes and desserts are to die for! Shout out to our awesome server Ella tonight! She was super sweet and took care of us! I took photos of our food but it did not upload. Anyway we ordered their boudin balls for appetizer and man they were fresh hot and delicious! My wife had the poboy combo, baby had the kids tenders and myself, I ordered the macho burger. Left very satisfied we even recommended this place to my sister and her friend to try. Upon entry we were welcomed with warm greetings! So customer service was A+. I live in the heights and the crawfish was well worth the drive. They include the potato and corn in pricing. And for my glove people, I have long nails and it didn't poke a hole or rip the glove. Only downside were the drink options. I wasn't feeling the margaritas and they didn't carry cider or seltzers. Make sure to save room for dessert though because we tired banana pudding and something with cinnamon. Both were a win!!! read more

Came to TJ Reed's on a Saturday afternoon for lunch with a group of friends. It is located in Dickinson which is just south of League City. I live in Pearland so getting here was easy via back roads. There is plenty of parking. Inside is very spacious with lots of tables and bar top seating if you want to have a drink and watch some sports. Customer service was great. The owner and her staff checked in on us frequently and she even brought us out a few desserts to share. TJ Reed's boasts the best burger in town so my sights were set on that. That is not the only thing they do though. Being so close to the coast, they also have a nice selection of seafood items and Cajun boils. They also have tacos, salads and chicken items as well. I can appreciate a restaurant that has a variety of different things. For my burger, I went with the Macho Burger. The burger was cooked to a perfect medium as requested and it was topped with a beer braised onion ring, cheese, jalapenos, avocado and a chipotle mayo. The burger was seasoned to perfection and the toppings all worked well together. The soft, toasted brioche bun was also very good. I paired it with some tots which were delicious as well. As mentioned before, the owner was happy to see our large group and brought out a specially made ice cream dessert which was fantastic. Overall, a great meal was had. I have been wanting to visit forever and last week we finally stopped in to order a "tale out" order but instead we were greeted and treated like family. The staff was so welcoming. As a mom we are constantly the ones serving and taking care of everyone. On this evening I got to experience that feeling as I waited for my to go order I was taken care of but I lovely woman who anticipated our every desire. The corn brad muffins were sent from heaven and the loaded fries were from another universe! My husband's po boy was huge and delicious, the burgers were superb and the nachos were top tier. My husband picked TJ Reed's for dinner. We were greeted upon arrival and seated as well. Right away I noticed how friendly the staff was. Our waitress was great, and I ordered a pina coloda right away. When I tell you it was one of the best I have had, I am not joking. Pina's are one of my favorites, and it did not disappoint!! I am a sucker for seafood boils, and mean this one! It was SO good and the portion size was immacualte. The seasoning was on point. The shrimp were large and everything about it wad delcious. The manager even gave us a dessert on the house. A waiter brought it to the table and it was the whiskey cake. Do not sleep on that cake! TJ Reed's is a busy place! We had a big group so it took a while to get a table, which is completely reasonable and expected. This is a big place and there's a lot going on. The menu has tons of options. Service was OK. Maybe it was because we had a big group, but service was distracted. For a place that seems like it should be so much fun, our wait service didn't live up to my expectation of fun. We ordered several appetizers. I only took pictures of the Boudin Balls. I split one and it was tasty, but not extraordinary. I ordered a Cheeseburger with bacon added and an extra side of onion rings. Yes, everything (bacon and onion rings) was available with an extra charge. Some boozy shakes were ordered and enjoyed. I didn't have one, but they did indeed look good. The lady servicing us said I am sorry but did not offer to provide a to go cole slaw. She gave basic service but did not find her friendly. I found the information about the sides confusing. We just had one of the best lunches I have had in a long time. Our server, Dillon, was so attentive and so helpful in suggesting what we should get. The restaurant was so nice inside and had really cute, colorful decor which my niece loved! It was our first time here and we got the catfish (fried) with shrimp etoufee, the po boy combo with gumbo and one of their burgers. Dillon was even nice enough to bring us a banana pudding on the house since it was our first time! We will 1000% be coming back. my wife and I took her parents to this fantastic, honest to goodness real Cajun cooking for a hamburger. Turns out I got the blackened chicken with crawfish etoufe gravy and dirty rice. OMG. Wow. The server turned out to be the owner / chef. She served some fresh made buttery con bread and topped it all of with some sweet potato bread pudding. TDF. Drove in from Galveston for hair appointment at Genesis in the same shopping center and after...we came here for an early dinner We had frozen watermelon margaritas...it's not fresh watermelon (it's a syrup) but still tasty. We split the loaded tots: came w/melted cheese (queso) jalapeños, bacon and ranch---YUM. the cheese tasted wonderful which made it all delicious $7 regular size the Macho burger -no bun- (per my request) it came with beer braised onions, fresh avocado, jalapeño, queso and chipotle mayo--the beef was seasoned perfectly and cooked medium like I requested...it was soo good. Really good. Again, that cheese boi...yum! Very nice wait staff. Always cleaning. Checking on customers. Still haven't managed to see/meet the owner, maybe one day. read more

I had seen this restaurant on one of the Texas roadshow/food review/travel shows and decided to give it a shot. We made a trip here because the owner seemed so genuine and fun in the interview, the food looked amazing, the wide variety of foods ensured everyone was able to find something they liked - and it did not disappoint one bit! We were immediately greeted by the owner and a very friendly staff, seated quickly, and everything only got better from there. We ordered a wide variety of foods as we were with friends - seafood, kids meals, and a couple of their famous burgers - and all were amazingly delicious. The restaurant was very clean, kid friendly, casual, and atmosphere was well done. We had an incredible time here and cannot recommend this place enough. Stopped by after a morning of fishing in Galveston. Surprisingly solid food in a small shopping plaza. Interior is clean and has a sports bar vibe. Apps Seafood bisque- 4/5, lots of lump crab meat in there. Would've like it a little thicker Shrimp ceviche- 3.5/5, a little light on the shrimp, mostly tomatoes and avocado. Good flavor, slightly on the sweet side. Main Seafood combo with catfish and shrimp, with sweet potatoes fries and slaw- 4/5. Fries were well cooked, slaw was a little runny but had good flavor. Absolutely amazing. I don't think my family or I have had better in a long time. To start? Fried pickles for an appetizer-- those were those the perfect amount tangy and salty. The tater tots? Crunchy on the outside, and fluffy goodness on the inside, and eating them like was like... nothing else I'd ever had could even claim to be a tater tot. For dinner, I'd had the crawfish poboy, my brother the catfish poboy, my mother and aunt both went with a plate of alaskan salmon, while my dad got the half pound of shrimp. I can say unequivocally that we all very much enjoyed our meals. That crawfish poboy is great with the FRIED crawfish in my opinion, and the flavor profile is downright scrumptious; plus, it's a pretty damn big sandwich, so you won't be going hungry for sure. Next came the service. Our waiter, for the life of me, I can't remember his name, started with a T, I'm pretty sure; the red-haired and bearded gentleman, I'm sure he'd remember us because we were a family of redheads as well. The man was outstanding in his friendliness, his care, his charm and wit. He made sure we had everything we needed in a prompt manner, and even after the kitchen was closed and we were getting ready to leave, he secured me a little cup of queso so that when I ate my leftovers the next day, I could pour said queso on my fries (which, by the way, their fries were amazing). The atmosphere was also welcoming and friendly, with the funny paintings on the walls, music and lighting all helping to liven the place up. Overall, the food was good, the service was amazing and the desert was phenomenal. This was a great date night for my husband and myself. We arrived around 7pm on a Friday and the line was to the door. We were greeted by a polite employee who informed us that it would be a 25 minute wait, unless we wanted to sit outside, then we could sit immediately. So, we ate outside. The food was great. My cheeseburger was amazing. My husbands was okay... they forgot the onions but he didn't complain and still ate every bite. The fries were also delicious. The custard stole the show. Seriously amazing custard!! Our waiter was very polite and friendly. He seemed a little nervous and let us know that he was new and still learning the menu. He tried really hard to give us a pleasant experience and we appreciated his efforts! He checked on us and gave us updates, as the food was taking a while to prepare since it was a busy Friday night. We ordered a milkshake and the machine was having issues and our waiter asked if we were okay with waiting. We were. Then the milkshake wasn't correct. It was supposed to have a shot of bourbon and it didn't. Usually we wouldn't say anything but it was a $6 shot so we told him and he immediately told the owner who stopped what she was doing and made the milkshake. Oh. My. Goodness.
