I've tried samples of Chicken Salad Chick's chicken salad at local markets, but this was my first visit to their St Pete brick-and-mortar restaurant. I anticipated a fast food ambiance, and instead was pleasantly surprised to find a friendly and welcoming dining room complete with holiday decor (complete with seasonal tablecloths!!!) From the moment we walked in, to the friendly and helpful counter staff, to the larger than anticipated menu,... Everything exceeded our expectations. The shareable platter (two scoops and two sides) was delivered to our table with an extra tray (I didn't even ask for it!) and the grape salad and broccoli salad sides were delicious. While we hesitated to select our scoops, we were thankful to find a tasting table where an attendant gave us samples of any flavors we wanted to try before we made our selections. I'm so impressed! If you like chicken salad or pimento cheese check this place out. It is a Southern chain with Southern charm. They have about eight different chicken salad options and three pimento cheese options. My favorite is the Holly jalapeño, it's got just the right amount of spice and you can get it served as a melt on a croissant, a scoop or a regular sandwich. You can get it with with soup, pasta salad, grape salad or other side options. They always give you a frosted sugar cookie about the size of a half dollar as a little treat with your combo which is unexpected and nice. They do have freshly brewed sweet and unsweet iced tea. It's fast casual, you order at a counter and then they bring it to your table. It is a bit more $$ than Panera and not some thing I would go to every day but every once in a while, it's a nice treat. Plain but good and the croissant and toppings were nice and fresh. The southern style had pickle and hard boiled egg in it. It was disgusting. The combination of flavors made it taste like it was spoiled . It's a definite No. Also, it was served with wheat club crackers, while original, not cool for those of us that can't do wheat. I also ordered a side of their baked potato soup, which is made with smoked gouda. The combination of the gouda and the bacon made it like eating a bowl of smoke. One bite, and I was done with that! Holy moly this is some outstanding chicken salad and I love that it's not standard fast food fare. After craving good chicken salad for several weeks and knowing that Publix just ain't gonna cut it, I stumbled upon Chicken Salad Chick while visiting a nearby coffee shop for The Yelp Team (thanks Yelp!). Chicken Salad Chick (CSC) has at least a dozen varieties and flavors including traditional (includes my favorite Classic Carol), Savory, Spicy, and Fruity and Nutty. They also offer a seasonal salad which was Caesar Chicken Salad and it was fantastic. They also offer pimento cheese, salads, and more. Diners can order their chicken salads as a scoop on a salad or as a salad. My chicken salad BLT on a fresh croissant was savory, fresh deliciousness. In addition to eat-in / take out fare, they also offer pre-packaged individual and larger sized servings that patrons can take home for larger gatherings or later eats. CSC is a clean fast food restaurant and this location is very busy. Parking is tight around lunch time but worth it if you have to endure a short walk or wait. Walk up ordering is quick and easy and the staff is friendly and accomodating. I highly recommend CSC and I am so thankful that I know right where to go to get an excellent chicken salad fix in St. Pete. read more

We are originally from Connecticut, where there is a small, local chain of markets (Highland Park Market) that makes hands down the BEST chicken salad anywhere (big chincja of chicken, not a lot of Mayo or fillers), so the bar is high. I like how you can get an added scoop instead of a side with your sandwich....this allows you to try two different varietals in one order (and they send along a nice helping of crackers to use as dipping tools for the 2nd scoop!) I have never been to a Chicken Salad Chick before, and I also prefer to avoid chain restaurants in favor of local spots. That said, I also know franchises employ locals and are usually owned by local franchise owners. I also read the article in Tampa Bay Times about how these franchise owners honored the previous restaurant that had been in the same location throughout my childhood, and I loved that so I wanted to give it a try. The place was immaculate with lots of friendly employees greeting me - definitely don't find that many places. There were a bunch of prepackaged, fresh looking grab-and-go meals, although I'd ordered online ahead of time. I got the cranberry chicken salad sandwich on toasted wheat bread and it was delicious. It didn't have a ton of flavor, though, and next time I think I'll try the jalapeno chicken salad or the dill chicken salad. I also liked that the lettuce on the sandwich was really fresh - thats always a good indicator to me of a well maintained restaurant. I love that the price includes a side (I got broccoli salad, which was great although I didn't realize it came with cheese and bacon on top and since I got the broccoli salad in an effort to be healthy I'd keep those off next time) and a little packaged cookie. I think it'd be a perfect size for most people but I was able to stretch it into two meals - bonus! So many restaurants in downtown St. Pete are outrageously priced for what you get, and it was nice to see a place where I felt like I got a good value for what I was spending. I don't ever write reviews for chain restaurants, but I really did love my experience here and I'll be back.
