Good lesson in mediocrity for lunch. Started off with the mentally absent guy behind the counter which awkwardly stared off into space while I repeated my order 3 times. On the 4th I finally got an "oh, what did you want?" Had the turkey fig and their Italian. The sandwiches are not hearty for $14. The days of a $12 hero sandwich are over. They have a pretty neat wine selection as well. I ordered their Reuben (to go) - they make a traditional one on rye and a more non traditional one on ciabatta. Food and service were great! In town for WWE Royal Rumble weekend. Looking for a quick bite before the show. Walked the strip, the deli aspect of the restaurant caught our attention. Fresh deli meats and cheeses available. Drinks, including beer and wine available in the side fridge. Indoor and outdoor seating. We ordered the Cuban (so good) and the Turkey Melt. It came melty and extremely flavorful. The pressed bread was the star of the show though. Warm and fluffy inside with the most satisfying light crunch on the outside. We devoured our sandwiches within minutes. Huge con: a large amount of bugs congregating on and around the inside bar table top. More than I was comfortable with. We opted to move to an outdoor table when the bugs repeatedly landed on my hand. I hope it was due to the humidity and is not a regular occurence. This is a no frills, all about the quality of the sandwich kind of place. It's a small spot with not a lot of seating. There's dusty trinkets on the counter top that creates it's own type of charm. There aren't too many options, but our cashier recommended the top two most ordered items, the cubano and the Italian. Very hefty meals. FAMILY HALLOWEEN LUNCH ADVENTURE!!! This place was great, small, but great. They had two larger tables outside with umbrellas. A small semi long bar top at their front window inside and some 4-6 tables between the window and the counter. It is a nice shop, with some similarities to a Brooklyn sandwich shop, depending on which one you might have gone to. We all ordered the same Italian meat sandwich. They were enjoyed by all, but really I'm not sure if we'd get it again as they had many other sandwiches to choose from and AS ALWAYS this is an honest review... The sandwich was pretty dry the cheese did not add much. Honestly it was not an Italian meat filled sandwich . It was more of a sandwich I could make at home with ciabatta bread. The sauce is supposed to differentiate this sandwich from other basic Italian sandwiches. Unfortunately the sauce was either a thin spread or it seeped too much into the bread, It was underwhelming in regard to the taste/amount of the sauce. It barely added anything to the sandwich. All 5 of our different tastebuds agreed. More sauce might have saved it for us. The Italian meat sandwich was good to try once!!! Food to value ratio: Just OK. For 14$ each sandwich. I could have paid for 2 and made 5 of these sandwiches with piled high meat, cheese, roasted red peppers at home and added my own sauce with home made basil/pesto/other. We all got glass bottle craft Ice tea's, but they did have lemonade, craft sodas and more I paid 86$ for 5 sandwiches and 5 drinks. I did not feel the value for that type of dollar. The employees were very friendly, but seemed a bit disorganized in their processes. After 15 years in the industry myself. I can pretty much tell when there are new(er) people at an establishment. I base my perspectives on how easy the staff perform the constant repetitive tasks of their individual roles. I have worked them all!!! We did return, after some trick or treating as we saw they had root beer floats for 7$ on our way out. These are what made this place great for us!!! Side note: Brooklyn South also has deserts: The wife got the pumpkin pie and said it was a great piece of pie. She would eat it again!!! They have many other desert options as well. Cannoli's anyone??? I will def try their Cannoli next time to see if it's frozen or made in house. Because we will def stop back for their Root Beer floats next time we're in the area, they were that good!!! Now let's get to those RBF's. They use their craft can root beer, yes you get the remainder of the can for refilling needs. You get a frosted mug or at least it's a cold as ice mug before it gets to the table and the natural creamy vanilla ice cream was a perfect pair to the root beer. Drink to Value ration: Excellent!!! For 7$ this RBF IS OUTSTANDING, the boy, the little one and I. ALL LOVED THEM. The root beer had a very OLD SCHOOL GOODNESS feeling, by the taste, vessel & crafting method provided by the staff!!! I recently ordered from Brooklyn South for the first time in almost two years. I used to eat their food regularly for several years after they opened, because I lived close by. I was hoping the quality would be the same as it was, but it just wasn't. The mac and cheese used to have a nice, creamy sauce and was one of the best mac and cheeses in town. The mac and cheese I got yesterday seemed like just hot noodles with some cheese shreds thrown in to melt, so it was clumpy and the cheese was not well distributed. The cheese itself didn't taste great either - it had a kind of musty flavor to it. The mango turkey sandwich is one I have had probably 7 or 8 times in the past and it used to always be dependably delicious, but this time it was weird. The "mango chutney" had zero detectable mango in it and it just tasted like sugary ginger that was way too sweet. The portions were still good sized and everything was hot and fresh, but the recipes have definitely changed and not for the better. I was disappointed. read more

It's in a row of shops and isn't prominently marked, but their sandwiches are worth stopping for. There is a small indoor space, with a couple of guys that are welcoming in a friendly but reserved European sort of way. Prime outdoor space in the Florida sun just outside. The sandwiches are the main event here. Standard meats and breads with unique cheeses and spreads of fig preserves or a Russian steak sauce! Both times we visited we were impressed by the options and flavors. They have serval different drink options that are pre-bottled. No run-of-the-mill fountain drinks here. Wine options were in the cooler, but we didn't ask how they were offered on this visit. Chips are options from Deep River and are very good. Make a visit, try the one with turkey and fig. I really, really enjoy Brooklyn South and love that it's so close to where I live. It's perfect for lunch and/or dinner (which I've done). The staff here is great. Every time I'm here, whether it's on the phone, or in person when I order, whoever I'm dealing with is uber friendly. Just a nice group of people. The inside is pretty small so I typically don't like to eat there, which isn't a problem for me at all. There are a few outdoor tables to sit at as well. My go-to's are their tuna and their Italian. The ciabatta bread used on their sandwiches is super tasty. I love the tuna because it's not mayonnaise tasting and I like that they added capers to it. Also, I really love their mac & cheese (that comes in two sizes- small and large). It's the perfect paring with a sandwich. You can also add bacon to it as well as tuna. Everything is usually ready within 10-15 minutes and always is fresh tasting (and hot). I've yet to order their meats and cheeses but that's soon on my list.
