Stopped here after a long drive from central California and it definitely was a place that hit the spot and left me content, ready to finish my drive! I ordered the Naked Chicken and really enjoyed it. The chicken was grilled not fried so it didn't feel heavy (good thing since I was still driving for some miles) and the bacon and avocado, as well as the spread were all together the perfect amount and combination 100% not to mention the brioche bun was just perfection! I do wish pickles were added, even if only on the side as that would have just been the cherry on top! And if the chicken breast was a little bigger or at least 1 more was added, it would have made the proportions better because the burger was slipping and sliding everywhere and there was more bun than meat. The fries as well were really good, shoestring fries paired with their "fries sauce", sooooo yummy! With COVID there was no indoor dining, but I could tell it would be a really nice place to sit and eat while having a beer with your burger as well since there are some beers on tap! This is what you get for $5.00 worth of "Angry Mac and cheese". With the weight of the cup you only get 5.8 ounces, almost a $1 per an ounce, absolutely pathetic and tiny amount of food for $5.00. What a waste of time and money. I won't be coming back. Macaroni and cheese is literally the cheapest side that you could provide aside from French fries. Can't believe that they didn't even bother to fill up the minuscule cup up all the way. I won't be coming coming back or supporting a local business that tips people off like this. For $5 you should get something at least double this size and the business would still be making a decent profit. If I had any regret in life, it would be that I should've written a review for this restaurant a long time ago with that said, this is one place you can't miss eating at or you'll regret it!! :/ I'm being completely honest right now in saying that it's the BEST restaurant I've ever eaten at in my life and I'm half a century years old now !!! I've been wanting to try this restaurant and I'm glad I finally did. They have a good selection of meals whether you want chicken and waffles, chicken salad, chicken and fries, wings or just dessert. I tried their Korean chili wings along with their agave mustard wings. The chicken was juicy and cooked all the way through. The coating on the way things were slightly crispy which I enjoyed immensely. There was plenty of sauce along with a choice of dipping sauces as well. The agave mustard was slightly sweet and on the other hand the Korean chili with spicy enough which made then complement each other. I would have loved to try the chicken and waffles or the chicken and fries but my dietary needs doesn't allow for a lot of carbs. I will definitely be coming back with friends in town! read more

Haven't eaten here in a while, but I remembered it being really good, so I decided to try it out again. It was SO disappointing. Picked up the order about 15 minutes after putting it in, but all of the food looked like it had been sitting out for hours. My boyfriend got the habanero loaded fries, which were basically just regular fries with some shriveled, crusty pieces of chicken on top. They barely put any other toppings on. The chicken on my sandwich looked pretty much the same, and my side of fries was so greasy that their was a literal pool of grease in the bottom of the box they were in. read more

Visiting the area from the Bay Area, stopped here for a quick bite after a hike. Haven't done indoor dining since it's not permitted in my county, but here all the employees were wearing masks and gloves so I felt comfortable. Ordered the bbq chicken salad with little expectations but I was blown away by the flavor. The sweet yet tangy bbq sauce and the perfectly cooked chicken was amazing. Then someone came over and brought a sample of their berry pie to try. I really thought it couldn't be better, but I was wrong. The pie to fresh, not too sweet and yet not too tangy. I could not be more excited that Chicken Shack opened up on the west side! Our family loves this place and I love the close proximity to my work. They also did a great job remodeling the building. For those that have lived here awhile, you probably remember the rotation of restaurants at this location - it never seemed inviting but Chicken Shack did it right. Totally welcoming with great artwork. I love the chicken and love the waffles but it's the salads that I always crave! Seriously, their House Salad is delicious and I don't even feel sad about eating a salad instead of fried chicken. That house-made agave mustard dressing is perfection. But if you prefer fried chicken, you gotta try the bbq sauce and the spicy ranch. Maybe it was an off night but my chicken was way over cooked. Like the oil needed to be changed. It made the chicken tough to chew. But I'd definitely try them again because the service was 100 percent on point. They explained the menu and how everything worked to me for what I'm sure was the umpteenth time for them. The snickerdoodle cookie was really good, and the sauces were very tasty! The sauces alone too is why I will go back. I mean it was at the end of the night, might have just been a fluke on the overcooked kind burnt tasting chicken. I see other reviews say how good it is, and I'll update my review when I try again. Disappointed. Walked in and felt very unwelcome by staff and customers. The most money I've spent on wings and they were not even done. We decided to take the uncooked wings back the server said it was a "vein". We knew that wasn't the case because the chicken had a bite to it, and it was pink. We were out of towners stopping by for a bite on our way through. Staff were incredibly friendly and helpful, and COVID guidelines were in place. The food was amazing! Fries were shoestring, perfectly crispy and very tasty all on their own. I got the chicken tenders: big, juicy, lots of meat alongside a really great crispy outside. They were not greasy at all. I had the dry rub, so can't comment on any of the sauces, but there were multiple to choose from which was great to see. Ownership was onsite and very friendly, checked in on us as we ate outside and let us know they're working on getting more cooling spray along the outside patio - Redding gets HOT. I really want to love Chicken shack but I have had way too many issues over the past year. I understand every business is struggling due to COVID & hiring employees but that's not an excuse for what's wrong with the menu. The breading on the chicken is far too thin, almost every time I've eaten at both chicken shack locations, the breading is so thin that the outer layer of meat was cooked almost like jerky. Essentially they deep fry chicken with hardly any breading causing exposed parts of the chicken to be tough/chewy where breading is too thin or non-existent. Other times the breading was slimy with oil (still too thin.). I've called management about this issue, their soupy/watery nasty "Mac-n-Cheese" and the size of their "jumbo" chicken strips are about 3 inches long for 3 strips & fries for $11? Chi-Fil-A's chicken strips, fries meal is thoroughly breaded, almost the same size, crunchy outside & soft warm chicken on the inside for a cheaper price. The old Chicken Shack had huge chicken strips twice that size for the same price, more breading & tasted much better. I told the managers & even one of the owners on Facebook to fix the issues, I don't want a free meal, money isn't the issue, it's quality. I was told the chicken comes pre-breaded which is a huge mistake. The old chicken shack did it by hand, I watched them do it every time I went for happy hour. I like the branding, the owners, even the employees are nice but when you can't get the most basic but fundamental part of your menu consistent & to actually pass as fried chicken, what is the point in going back ever again? Their fried chicken is not good, not even seasoned properly. I'm better of getting a bucket of fried Chicken at Safeway deli down the street who knows how to bread a whole piece of chicken. I gave them so many chances, contacted management & tried again & again to see if they fixed the issues. Nothing is fixed, therefore 2 stars. Sorry Chicken Shack, but sheez, this is horrible fried chicken! read more

Food was good--been to both Redding locations many times. Usually pretty clean inside. Tonight I noticed a lot of dead flies on the window sills. Many of the tables appeared clean and had no large debris on them but they were actually sticky or greasy. Also we ordered a couple of beers and when they were brought out the server had his fingers all over the rim of both glasses. Kinda grossed us out. Probably just need to remind new staff of serving etiquette. Will definitely come back because the food has always been good. read more
