Chicken, shack potatoes, roll, and slaw. Great lunch

Old building caught my eye on the way to the airport. Why not? Fried chicken 4 stars, coleslaw 3 stars, shack potatoes 5 stars - potatoes cut in cubes, roasted and serviced in a butter sauce. Yum. The four pieces of chicken - the breast was done perfectly, the thigh and leg a little overdone and the wing overdone. The breading I found excellent, both texture and flavor, and not overly salty. If I lived nearby I would eat every month or so.

I just read my last review of this place. It was in 2014. The last sentences read "Would I return? probably. Would i hurry nack? Probably not. Well, its 4 years later. Lmao. I just now came back! I really wanted chicken, my BH said Chicken Shack? So we stopped in. JUST FOR THE POTATOES. Still don't care for the coleslaw. Chickens still good. My previous opinions still stand. However, it was much cleaner than i remember. They have drink bags. A new digital menu board. And a new print menu. Service was prompt and pleasant. Mushrooms are still a winner!!!

Only private owned Chicken Shack we know of for decades. All corporate locations Suck badly. This place has a great owner and crew that care's about the customers. They even bring your meal to your table, how cool is that, Free water cup too unlike Riverview location. Spotless clean restrooms unlike Gibraltar location won't let you use them. Finally got to try the new Spicy Chicken Sandwich WOWED a real winner. Mega Fillet drenched in batter freshly deep fried, it hangs out both sides of the bun. Creamy Slaw n Pickles the lunch special outstanding deal until 4 pm everyday. For only 10 bucks n change you get the Sandwich, Shack Taters smothered with Butter, Coleslaw and a Fountain drink w free refill. Best deal around town by this local chain. She had the Chicken Breast Lunch special for a win. Folks visit this location for the best food and service . #chickenshack @sobeckschickenshack #spicychickensandwich #shackpotatoes #chickenbreast #coleslaw #lowprices #lunchspecial #downriverfriendseat

Ladies and Gentlemen, you have now entered the best chicken shack establishment in all of Metro Detroit. Whenever the mood hits and a craving for boasted chicken arises, this is the first that come to mind. It's the closest proximity, plus it has the best quality as far as I'm concerned. There's this experiment you can do for its level of authenticity,, you buy a box of chicken. Make sure it's dark meat, because I am a firm believer that white meat is for Americans with no tastebuds. It's like setting yourself up for failure. Now, take a big bite out of a leg or a thigh,, and let the euphoria kick in. The chicken is that good... the quality, the crispness and the way it's seasoned is beyond all other chicken shacks. Trust me when I tell you this, because this spot has been here longer than any other chicken shacks in Metro Detroit. It has stood the test of time and will keep standing long after that as well. It's not just about the chicken, they're have side dishes are out of this world. I, in fact, am a big fan of their boasted potatos. Make sure you take you hold on to something sturdy because these man nuggets of potatoes are smothered in butter. Also there's their fried mushrooms, it's extremely addicting and it goes hella well with any alcoholic beverage. Life is too short to be eating mediocre chicken parts. Weeeeeeeeee

Delray BBQ - What a wonderful surprise!…read more It has been a long time since my last visit downtown and I was craving Motz sliders, but as I got closer, I saw that Motz had closed early. Damn! Then I noticed the Delray BBQ trailer in the parking lot. WTH? I was in a hurry and looking for something quick and they were here, and I was here. They had BBQ. I had money. Sure, why not ... The menu yesterday was considerably limited to what is posted here: - pulled pork - pulled chicken - rib tips - selection of desserts $12 is a rather high price point for chicken and pork sandwiches from a food trailer, but the clock was ticking and what the heck ... I ordered the pulled chicken sandwich. The chicken was wonderful; cooked well done, but not over cooked, not dry and not sauced. The portion was very generous and cascaded far off the bun. The bun; I forgot to ask which bakery makes that wonderful bun. I will admit to being worried that only one sauce was available. It is a thin sauce that flows easily. A bit sweet and a hint of tang (acid). The order included a small scoop of Mac & Cheese. It is of the firm variety, my favorite. Not creamy, nor a gelatinous glob. If they put a bit of bacon or lobster in it, I would order it for a meal. I also order a small cup of the coleslaw ($1) and added it to the sandwich. A nice complement of texture for the sandwich. It is wet, not creamy - fine by me. The two guys working the food trailer are friendly and helpful. After finishing my lunch I inquired about wet-naps to clean my fingers and they provided. The limited menu was the only disappointment. I would have loved a combination plate of the usual suspects found at a BBQ joint. The limited menu was aimed at SW Detroit lunch crowd. The full menu is available at other venues - check Facebook, their webpage or call.

Yea you have roundhouse and you did have RealBBQ (only great for opening month) etc. but there really isn't any great BBQ around here. Anyway this spot was ok. I almost gave it 2 stars but I have to go back and try the chicken. We ordered one chicken BBQ plate and one BBQ rib plate to go. We get back to the spot to try it and she messed up and put two BBQ. I called and she offered a free chicken BBQ plate when I come back. The meat was somewhat tender but you could tell they made a lot and let it sit a long time. you could tell it was probably great a few hours earlier. They use the southeastern style vinegar based bbq sauce. A lot of flavor. I like that style. The greens were excellent in my opinion and The cornbread was the absolute worst dry non flavor cornbread I ever had. I was really disappointed in that. I've done a lot of traveling and I have found that the best BBQ spots are located in the hood so I was amped to try this. I am going to give them one more shot to try the BBQ chicken and cornbread and go from there. Ps this is only a carry out spot.

Gwen said she would try and she and the kitchen came through!! Gwen also said if we needed more do not be afraid to ask. We were satiated with those 6 or 7 wings. Unfortunately we only bought my wife a soft drink and our bill was $117 and the raffle tickets are every $40 spent so we only received two of them for three of us. Nyla was great as I could not find pepper on the sauce bar to season our hangar steaks. Nyla went into the kitchen and grabbed some for me, as well as adding an equal amount of salt to the sauce bowl as I wanted both for seasoning the meat. Lina, at the front desk, helped out with questions about the raffle tickets, the snow crab legs free special on April 15 their one year anniversary of the Taylor location being open. Gwen was great and kept us in clean grills, brought extra butter for our hangar steaks as requested, and kept our pitcher of water filled. She had two mishaps right beside our table. First she accidentally spilled a cup of ice for us ( her tray had a LOT on it ). Later replacing it she dropped a second cup of ice water next to me as well. Gwen said she bragged to a coworker she had not dropped anything for a long time after the first mishap recently. I regaled her about when I bragged I never spilled my giant 64 ounce Speedway cup wedged between my front seats to a coworker. That day and the following two days it spilled three times. I told her it was GOD's humor to our pridefulness. So when she spilled the second cup, I managed to refrain from saying she was due one more spill. I hope she does not have a third spill today nor soon. Anyway, the food is top notch as always! This is our home KPOT! Anqi is great as always too.

Reservations required for 10 or more people. A table fits up to 8 people with two grills to share among 8 people. No worries since there was only 5 of us the day of, additionally they didn't end up reserving us a table. Everyone at the table must get the same thing, BBQ or BBQ and hotpot together. Gwen waited on us. There is a $10 upgrade for the dinner meats and protein (marked as red under the protein selections). What a bummer!. A lot of the meats and protein items my team wanted are only available at the dinner time menu, unless you pay the extra $10 per person, a premium for it. None of my team wanted to pay the dinner price for a few premium meats. The iPad is used for ordering your meats and vegetable and rice, easy to used. Cart order shows as $0. Place order and items takes about 5 minutes to come out on a cart. The soybean paste as well as the sesame oil with little pepper and salt is a good dipping sauce for your barbecue meat. The appetizers were not so yummy. It's only chicken nuggets, veggie spring rolls and fries. Some more of the Korean bunsik items would have been good. The banchans are so-so. The kimchi, cucumber, sliced radish, and radish chunks were just OK. The tofu skins were odd, I thought they were fish cake at first. They are not. Our grill had to be replaced a few times, additionally the vent hood wasn't working properly. We were inundated with smoke at times. Gratuity of 18% is added for parties of 5 or more. Spicy chicken was decent, sinewy and gristly though. Pork belly and bulgogi was ok. Calamari was so-so. The garlic shrimp was good. Prefer Korean BBQ restaurants, the buffet bar is good for the dipping sauce for the hotpot, but not a lot of good apps or fruit options for me.

BURN IN HELL Or at…read moreleast while attached to a hearse. The man that designed this custom built bar and grill does just that at least once a year when he treks with the trailer to Hell, Michigan with his "open casket" grill. The grill, which was built over the course of 80 to 100 hours at The TechShop of Allen Park, is made out of a modified casket. The shell of the casket is mounted to a portable tow-behind trailer, so it draws onlookers when being transported behind a hearse, but with no visible tie-downs. (Video of the creator talking about the grill: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w0RXI8DHWgo) It contains a four-burner stainless steel grill that boasts 48,000 Btu of power. It boasts 496 square inches of cooking space, with electronic ignition and porcelain-coated, heavy-gauge wire cooking grates and a 20-pound propane tank. The other half of the casket includes a marine style waterproof radio and a 27-gallon cooler with built-in drainage features. Of course, the grill wouldn't be complete without tools that all have "Open Casket Bar and Grill" laser etched into their handles, and custom-made salt and pepper shakers. Why a hearse? Because the creator, Steven Frye, is also the founder of the Nightmare Cruisers Hearse Club for car enthusiasts. The club boasts more than 120 members, mostly from around Michigan, though some join from across the country. "We like to get together and do the cruises," Frey said. "When we do these cruises, we like to hang out with our friends, old friends and new friends. Anyone that has a hearse is welcome to join us, even if you are just a hearse enthusiast." Frey first bought his hearse to promote a product, "Dr. Frybrain's Pumpkin Embalmer," though most people thought it was just a name for his hearse, rather than an actual product. After a couple of years of explaining the product on the car, Frey grew tired of answering questions and instead just painted over the advertising. For a time, the club also held the record for most hearses assembled in a parade in 2011. Frey said the rule for any gathering of cars is that is has to be a parade; otherwise, the record would be held by the manufacturer. "We held the record for about 11 months," he said. "Then a group in the Netherlands broke the record. Almost all of them were 'in the business,' though. Only three of our hearses were owned by funeral homes.

This is awesome! I…read morehave seen this set up at the different car cruises around town, and I also saw it out at Hell Creek Ranch last year. The attention to detail is very professional. I've seen other casket grills, and none of them even compare. This one looks like it came direct from the factory. No other casket grill has a built in cooler, or on-board tunes! They normally only cook for club members, but you can generally get a casket-grilled hot dog for a donation to charity! Well done!
