I had high hopes for Non Stop Chicken, but it was a complete letdown. The food was bland, overpriced, and just not worth it. The chicken lacked flavor, and the portions didn't match the price at all. What made it worse was the attitude from the owner -- incredibly rude and unprofessional. It's clear they're trying to imitate other well-known chicken spots, but they completely miss the mark. There is something about Chicken Supreme (located at 309 Union Ave, Paterson, NJ). It is the UniQlo of fried chicken places (simple, but made well, and available at a reasonable price). For sure, there are other fried chicken joints (e.g. Urban Chicken at 3 Glenridge Ave, Montclair, NJ) that have better recipe and quality, but the salty crispy fried chicken at Chicken Supreme is very satisfying and compels you to go back for more. The place has been around since 1976. Some say that recently the quality has gone down, but I have found it to be very consistent, exactly the same as the first time I tried it. This could be maybe because I don't eat fried food that much. Even then, my favorite fried chicken is Korean Style Fried Chicken; My goto joint is Urban Chicken; But without doubt, there is something about Chicken Supreme. It has a distinct crispy texture, different in a good way, and the breast pieces are never dry. Stopped in today to see what this spot was about. It looked a little too nice upon first sight to have some fire fried chicken. Then I saw some people inside waiting for food. That's always a good sign. Then the smell hit. Second good sign. My lady and i got a thigh each. The chicken was super fresh. It had a nice crispy exterior and a tender juicy inside. Chicken Supreme didn't disappoint. It was a little more expensive (abt $5.5 for the two thighs) than your regular hood chicken spot but the quality and flavor made up for it. Would definitely return. This is the spot! Love their chicken and sides! I've been going here for over 20 years. When I worked in Paterson I would go here 1-2 times a week for lunch. I only have had their fried chicken, I'm not sure if they have anything else? Their name is appropriate. They got a good selection of sides and drinks. Usually a place like this, I'm scared to order the mashed potatoes because I don't know how quickly they're going to go through me, but I've have the mashed potatoes pretty regularly without incident which is more than I can say for other fried chicken spots! When we ordered our food , their response was very brief. They had little time for us. They were usually talking to each other or on their cell phones. They did not greet us coming in or leaving. I don't eat fried chicken often, but when I do, I come to Chicken Supreme in Paterson. This is hands down the best fried chicken I have ever had. It's the perfect combination of the crispy outside and the juicy meat on the inside. The meat they use is incredible and is always packed with flavor. Not to mention the pieces are huge! The prices at Chicken Supreme are unbeatable--we usually get the 12-piede family pack, which include 2 sides. It is pretty affordable to feed a family of 3-4 with this meal and we always have leftovers. Their French fries are so crispy and good, the corn bread is so moist, and the mashed potatoes have so much flavor. We also ordered the Mac and cheese and it was really good. I was expecting this place to be reminiscent of Kennedy Fried Chicken, given the location. But surprisingly, the chicken here was closer to the fried chicken at the Brooklyn Bowl, from Blue Ribbon. The skin is very crispy and flaky, not at all greasy, and seasoned very well. The meat is juicy, not dry at all. And it's a helluva lot cheaper than the Brooklyn Bowl. The restaurant is much cleaner than the other fried chicken spots in the area. The sides were pretty standard, nothing special. Definitely will return. read more

After ordering several times via Uber Eats, I'm happy to say this place is my secret gem. What really sticks out for me is that they follow requests/cooking instructions perfectly every time. No Mayo, no problem. Never a mistake. The cheeseburgers are SO satisfying - waaaay better than Mc'D's, BK or Wendy's. Fresh corn on the cob. Everything absolutely seems made to order and made FAST. Kentucky ain't the only folks doing chickens right. Supreme truly lives up to their name, as far as chicken is concerned. Someone at this establishment (which has been around for years) has tapped into some of the key spices at KFC, but has done it with more flair. The chicken is amazing, and 98% of the time, it's FRESH. The downside? It's pretty expensive for a place that caters to a less-affluent crowd. It's in the heart of the inner city, but has prices that are a tad impractical if you're trying to feed a group of people. $20 basically only gets you a bunch of chicken, and not much in terms of sides. But I suppose the higher costs are due to the quality of the chicken itself. As other posters have written, the sides are nothing that will curl your toes. Just very basic mac & cheese, mashed puhtayders (probably from a box, if you ask me), and fried okras which are my NEMESIS. I mean, okras are just entirely slimy... But I digress. Yum this place has good fried chicken. It's the closest fried chicken place to Fairfield that I thought was worth the drive during lunch. The reviews lured me in. It also has a parking lot which is good because it saves time! I can see myself coming here for lunch more. The chicken is nice and crispy. You can get combos or buy individuals. I've been going to Chicken Supreme for easily 25 years, possibly more. In recent years, the service has progressively diminished, but it's never been as bad as tonight. I went in to order a 4 piece chicken meal, but I wanted to replace one of the chickens with an extra breast and pay the difference. (I've done this before and as recently as a week earlier, my daughter had gotten an order and in passing had asked if she could upgrade one of the pieces if she wanted and was told yes.) The girl tonight very rudely told me that I could not upgrade the chicken. I brushed it off and just said to add on the additional breast. Then she again very rudely tells me that they're out of legs, so now I started to get upset. When I mentioned that they shouldn't have run out of legs on a holiday weekend, she said, "Then don't buy it!" I asked to speak with a manager, and he said the same thing. Just as nastily and without any intention of attempting to rectify the situation. As I mentioned, I've frequented this restaurant for quite some time, so I've had opportunities to speak with the original owner, his wife, and their son, who I believe is still the current owner. When I asked for his contact info or email, they said there isn't one. I cancelled my order and left. I also work in fast food and I know it can be a hectic and frustrating job, especially now that he have to wear face masks all day, but haven't spoken to a customer like that. It's uncalled for and it's very upsetting because I've never had such a bad experience. The current staff don't seem to care about the customers or the store, and clearly the management is no different. Even before COVID-19, I had lunch with my daughter there and the trash was overflowing, the floor was filthy, and the bathrooms were atrocious. The previous workers would've never let the store be that way. It's unfortunate to experience this now after so many years of patronage. But seriously, you go to chicken supreme for the HUGE, crispy-skinned CHICKEN! Never greasy, great even after you schlep it home, great cold the next day if you are smart enough to overbuy and hide it in the fridge. LOTS better than Hill Country in NYC, and theirs is pretty good. Old-school decor with plywood booths, and kept really clean. I went before they closed last night, and was very surprised to get extremely fresh chicken, it definitely did not taste like it was sitting there for hours. The restaurant was very clean, and the service was friendly. There prices were amazing, for under 7 dollars I got 2 large chicken breasts and and drink. The chicken is excellent, fried to perfection, it had the perfect crunch to it, and the chicken was seasoned perfectly.
