Was in the area on a business trip and came to this place for a quick bite. Ordered the quarter chicken with cilantro rice. The chicken was so delicious and juicy that I picked the bones clean...or i was just hungry. The rice was seasoned well but a bit too dry for me. They have seating but it's barricaded off so people cannot just walk to that area. You have to tell them you are dining in go back there. Place is cash only. While this place was next to all these government buildings, it did not appear to be that safe. The place has good food. But if you order at the restaurant they tell you 40 minutes for one chicken ribs and rice. Also when you try calling ahead they don't answer. All you get is a busy signal. They serve very juicy and flavorful chicken. The sauce has a nice kick of spice. Thye know to give me extra sauce to dunk my fried yuka. The fried plantains are very good as well. They always fry the very ripe ones. The best thing they serve are the bbq ribs. They are plain and simple but with the sauce its the best thing out of their oven. It's always the hood spots that have the best food. It's not the typical peruvian spot that I'm used to like Pio Pio or Don Pollo. No green sauce here but theres 2 other kinds that are good. We ordered Papa la huancaina and half chicken with garden rice and inca cola to share. It came up to $16 and change. Order took about 10 mins to be ready and they brought it to our table. This place is simple, no decor, just some tables and chairs in the back. regular disposable plate on a tray full of delicious food. The chicken is juicy and done just right and the garden rice has great flavor. I dont even like corn and peas but it was great and I ate every last grain. It was my first time having papa la huancaina (finally) and it was awesome, whatever that yellow sauce was, its good. I do wish that there was another egg in it though. It was disgusting to see the manager berating an employee for waiting by the phone. With so many customers waiting the kitchen staff wouldn't do anything unless they were ordered to do so. It was ridiculous to wait 15 minutes for a bowl of soup. Their garden rice is very bland with barely any vegetables and the soup was watery. They are seriously slacking. I have been to this place several times. Usually get BBQ ribs and fried yuca. The ribs are good, but not for everyone. They're rotisserie ribs, the sinew in the meat is not completely cooked through. The barbecue ribs tend to have a lot of grizzle and fatty. For some folks that's a big turn off. But I am a Caribbean child and I'm not afraid of bones or grizzle. Their barbecue is very flavorful, it's a lightly flavored barbecue. Which I like, I would give them a for if they would use better quality meat. But the Flavor is great. read more

The Chicken is easily some of the BEST rotisserie chicken I've ever had the only Chicken I can think of that better than this is Dino's Chicken in East LA and thats not Rotissere so lets give Kikiriki the title of BEST ROTISSERE I HAVE EVER HAD! Its realitvely fats too Now with that out of the way the drawbacks : Basically its the dinginess and cleanliness isn't always the best and the fact that its impossible to find parking. But I'm not going to ding the owners for that I know very well what its like to own a restaurant without parking. I come to this place so much that i searched for chicken in Peru that tasted like kikiriki. Thats how good this place is. We have been going to this place for 20 years.We usually get the chicken with the pork fried Rice. They make this special hot sauce that tastes so good. This is one of the best Peruvian restaurants I have been to. I wish I still lived in Jersey because I miss the food and the sauce. Connecticut Peruvian food is not this good and no one in Connecticut serves the same sauce.They also Have locations in Union City, West New York and Jersey City. My star ratings are based only on food quality. Food: Best rotisserie chicken, bbq ribs, and special spicy brownish sauce. The combination is unparalleled. Seriously. I live far away, and still make a trip every once and a while. Its one of those things that I get my bro to try, and he says no, but then he tries, and then he doesn't come up for air for a while. Chicken is tender and tasty, ribs are tasty and slightly charred, spicy sauce is savory and complex (and a mystery of elements) and only a little spicy, but in a way that the heat builds up if you eat a lot of it quickly. So good. I often get a whole chicken and 2 large orders of ribs and take it home to have for the week (and extra sauce). Other: Cash only. Bring your spanish tongue with you, although you could just get by in english too. No frills. Barely clean enough to eat in. Lots of dining space. Food is OK, I won't lie, their salsa picante is really really good but they are cheap about giving it out. They will give you one or two little cups when you really need four! Customer service is really lacking - like we should be REALLY pleased that they are making food for us lowly folks. And the worst is that the outside is always cluttered with drifters and bums and smells of urine. Hard to get past that and still have an appetite. This place Has been here for many years as I've lived in downtown since 1999 I used to frequent this place a lot, and then I just stopped going for no real reason I just hadn't been here in years. Today I stopped by because I remember I used to really love the Garden Rice and I hadn't had it in years so I decided to get a little combo. Now I'd be lying if I didn't say that I was annoyed at first because after waiting on line for 10-15 minutes I get to the counter and they said there's no more chicken or ribs left for another 40 minutes. But being I live close by I said OK I'll come back and I'm glad I did. One of the things that I noticed is that they are constantly very busy there's always a line almost out the door so that tells me that all The food I'm getting is probably pretty fresh and it was. I got a chicken and rib combo and it was delicious it came with Garden Rice, and their hot sauce is so delicious. Also I didn't have that many pieces of chicken but there was a lot of ribs in it but I appreciated it anyway because they were both very good and cooked perfectly , I also got an order of papa Huancaina and to be honest I wasn't expecting much but it was actually pretty good it could've used a little more sauce for my taste but it still was good and worth the money. Every time I order from here I get the bbq ribs and the arroz chaufa. Sooooooo good. The red sauce is what brings it home though. You have to pay extra for more of it but it's definitely worth it. Not a good spot to dine in but great to take out. read more

The prices were good. I ordered white rice, red beans, Chinese rice, whole chicken, ribs and fries. I would say everything was delicious with the exception of the red beans. They were very "watery" and had little to no flavor. I'm not sure if that's the traditional way they make it or they just do a bad job with the beans. In fact, that's why we got the chinese rice which was actually very good.
