Needed new tubes in an old cruiser and after looking all over downtown, this was the only place open on a Sunday afternoon. I dropped in with my bike, asked how long it would take and how much it would cost, I was told a couple days and $51. I wasn't in a hurry so the time frame wasn't a big deal and honestly, I was happy to find a shop open on Sunday so it was allllll good. I ended up picking out some new grips for the handlebars since the ones on the bike were pretty grody then left it there to be worked on. It was approx 3 days later, they called, I picked up my bike and rode it home. That was the only time I actually rode it for the next 3 weeks. It sat in my laundry room after riding it home from the bike shop then, I was super excited to go for a ride and as soon as I got it outside I realized the front tire was almost flat. WHA??? How is that?? It was a big giant BUMMER man, that's for sure. I walked my bike a half a block home then decided to go back to the bike shop to see if they could figure out why it would be flat after just adding new tubes 3 weeks earlier. The guy at the front (I didn't get his name, super nice person though), agreed to take a look and ended up replacing the tube for free. I waited in the shop and looked around at all the cool bikes that I wished I could have (like the electric one priced at $5K, what a beauty!). Took about 20 minutes and presto, I was off on my newly inflated tires and headed out to enjoy the day. Definitely recommend this bike shop, nice guys, good service, AND open on Sunday! read more

Purchased a cruiser bike from CB&B eight years ago. CB&B customized it for me and has done all the maintenance for me including numerous flats, a set of tires, rebuilt wheels, a major tune-up, and several other jobs. The work, service, and prices were fine. Got along well with all employees. Always tipped the mechanic. I use the goo that plugs small holes and avoid puncture vine like the plague. The vast majority of flats are the rear tire. On 9/9/23 CB&B fixed a front tire flat. When I paid and inquired about the cause of the flat, Dave informed that the mechanic that did the work was not present. I rode about eight miles only on roads. On 9/11/21, the front was flat AGAIN. When I took my bike to CB&B, a new kid was alone there. Don't know his name. He is tall and skinny. When I attempted to inform this twit of the aforementioned facts, his attitude was so bad that I will NEVER patronize CB&B again. His attitude was SO bad that, if he ever approches me outside the store, I will consider it an assault. Even if CB&B dumps him, I will go back there. I do not need CB&B. There are at least a dozen other bike shops in Chico. One fixed the flat and did other work on a walk-in. He charged $23. I paid $40. read more

This place is great. David took care of brake hose & elect. cable issue for me. He called me right away and told me the bike was ready. I had thought I was in for a huge bill for hydraulic brake lines and associated equipment. He found that he could correct the issue with much less equipment. They got me a new set of tires. Wasn't looking so spend a lot and they went through every set and showed me the peaks and the best kind of tire for my preference. I couldn't ask for a better service. They also texted me when my order was ready which I prefer. Not only that but they put my tires and tubes in for me without charging. It was overall a good experience. read more

The employee I worked with was really nice and was good at explaining and helping me get something I'd like. I came in because I was looking for something to ride around on but possibly do tricks with so he told me the pros and cons of each board and I picked out a pintail longboard like he recommended. My local bike shop I've been going to for years & spent thousands of dollars in has become quite distant from the hometown bike shop it was; Last time I went I was dissatisfied being told "you get what you get" pretty much. I left puzzled & frustrated... I was working in Chico area & wanted to buy my daughter a nice skateboard deck & hardware. I came to the right place, got a sweet 7.75" deck w/ Reds bearings for a slam-dunk price; Good trucks & she got to pick from a decent selection of grip tapes. Back to my MTN bike issues, I started talking w/ the two employees on a slow-ish Saturday & realized the perfect bike qualities are all here in one location. Very knowledgeable, not in any way pushy & great range of products for newer/ high end or your old favorite bike that needs some TLC. Perfect place to bring your bike for service-repairs, definitely worth the one hour drive passing 4-5 "other guys" along the way!!! read more

this guy is freaking awesome! I almost wanted to cry. The first time I went there was after I got hit by a car in my 67 cruiser that was my grandmas and he fixed it instantly. The next time he said it would be a week for me to get a bike back and I had it that same day because he knew I rode to work. Then today I was extremely blessed and grateful. i brought in a fixer upper bike since mine got stolen locked up and he totally helped me out. This is the first bike that I've gotten that wasn't a hand-me-down and actually fit me! i will forever be loyal He does what's best for the customers and not his own interest. read more

Wanted to buy a mountain bike. Went all over Chico looking for an entry level womens mountain bike and looking to spend somewhere in the $500-$700 dollar price range. The sales person told me that I would not be able to find a bike in that price range unless I went to Walmart and then proceeded to tell me that they are not allowed to carry bikes of such "low quality" in their store. I said to him that I actually had been to many of the bikes shops in Chico and had found bikes that met my criteria and price range. He then said, "Well you can find them but they will be last year's models." I told him I wasn't opposed to last year's models at all but that I had actually found a Specialized 2015 bike from Sports Ltd and a Giant 2015 from Cycle Sport. He then walked away from me and said, "I'm walking away now." So I quickly left the store. I couldn't help but take offense to being told that what I was searching for was by lack of a better word ," cheap." As I was also offended by his apparent assumption that I would have absolutely no knowledge of bikes and his tacky sales pitch would work on me. I'm also disappointed that I spent a lot of money in that store last year buying my son a bmx bike and gear. Today I purchased a 2015 Specialized Jett womens mountain bike. I paid $700. I doubt that Sports Ltd would be pleased to hear that they are selling "low quality" Walmart bikes. read more

Bought my bike here and wasn't disappointed. The lack of attitude was a nice change and the guys are all very knowledgeable. They steered me in the right direction when it was time to change my riding styles and I could be more stoked on the new wheels. I've been there twice--once to replace a tube on my bike and again to replace a tube on our trailer. Honest, knowledgeable, and fairly priced (labor and parts). I told him my concern with getting a flat on the trailer while miles from home and he suggested a lightweight slime product that would help prevent this. Thank you! read more

Drove up from Yuba City looking to buy my son a new skate board for his birthday. After going to all the other places that are now closed in Chico we found this diamond in the rough. My son was able to select for a verity of boards, trucks, and wheels to make the board that he wanted. Even being a small shop people were showing up and was a busy shop. But he helped everyone that he could the fastest that he could with out lacking customer service. Will be going back for more boards or even maybe a bike. read more

The 5 stars are for repair service, I never bought a bike here. These guys simply do the best job for way cheaper than anyone else in town. Once I had a creaky bottom bracket and I took my bike somewhere else first (think I'll review THEM next) and they said I'd need new chain, gears, etc., and more than $200 later my bike still made the same noise. I then brought it to Chico Bike & Board, and they fixed it for $5. Another time I needed some threads cut on a set of forks, and nobody else would do it on a Sunday except Chico Bike & Board. These guys know their stuff and are down to earth, no road-racing snobbishness, and have the most reasonable rates in town. As a bike fan I try to patronize every shop in town, but I have gripes about repair work from just about all of them except Chico Bike & Board. read more

I've lived in Chico a while and have owned (and "lost" my share of bikes). We've taken our bikes to pretty much all the known places and even a few of the not-so-known places to take one's bike to get repaired. This is the place I go to get my entire families bike's repaired and I would recommend to anyone. They are honest and tell you the simple answers. Sometimes, simple is the answer. Occam's Razor. Bike stores, any store, can sell a customer things, they can sell a customer what they think they may want or need. Chico Bike and Board doesn't do that. The guy that owns that place, seems to really like bikes and he knows who to hire too, and that's the key to good business. I have to say, I haven't bought a bike there, but I do know people who have, and I know a lot of college students like that place too. They're obviously doing something right. read more

I was well informed of my purchase and it was an honest experience, I told them my budget and what I wanted, and they helped me find exactly what I was looking for. This place is tailored to student customers for sure, and it's hard to say no to free lifetime tune-ups on any bike that you buy from the shop. I went to four other shops here in Chico, since this town is an obvious goldmine for everything that is bike. But this place was the ultimate score for me; it had the most quality and affordability. they where very helpful and very knowledgeable and not to pushy. they had a lot of bikes on sale. I am brand new to biking and he helped me pick out one and gave me a few pointers on keeping balance. he helped us take the wheel off and helped us fit it into the back seat of the car. you also get a lifetime repair and maintenance with your bike. when i crashed and it made my handlebars misaligned he straitened it back out for free! read more

Really nice guys. Gave me a fair trade-in on a bike I bought there and owned for 9 months but never used, and found I didn't like it. They traded me in for a nicer 21 speed, which I love. Really helpful guys, he spent a lot of time adjusting the saddle position an height and swapped out two saddles just to see which fit better. Did this about 3 times between 2 different bikes.
