This place has an awesome vibe to it but overall the food is poor compared to the taco food trucks in the area. In this particular visit my girlfriend and I ordered al pastor tacos, chicken tacos, and steak tacos. All three meats can be summarized with one word, dry. Every taco we had was overcooked and chewy. Perhaps 7pm on a Tuesday night isn't the right time to go, I can't say for sure. In addition to the tacos, we had chips and queso. The queso was good but the bag of chips was full of broken chips and crumbs. The few large chips in the bag were so salty we couldn't eat them. Good tacos! Tried the al pastor and the fish tacos. Al pastor had nice flavor but wasn't cooked enough on the flattop for my preference. Just like the pork to have a nice char on it. My son and I had lunch here yesterday and we had a wonderful experience. Just got a little confused when ordering, but the cashier explained to us in extreme detail the menu options. We ordered our tacos, esquites and our jarritos. Service was prompt. The meat was tender, full of flavor and seasoned well, they have 4 salsas (I tried all 4 ) they as well where full of flavor and spice. I was extremely impressed with the fixings bar everything was so clean, well organized and stocked and they actually had it cold. I have read the lower rated reviews on this establishment and I have to disagree! Mexico like in every part of the world cuisine is different in the south, north, coast and so forth. There is a difference! This is Mercado Style Tacos. My son and I enjoyed our lunch here and I highly recommend it. Love the open, clean, "mercado" style- so different and refreshing. We had the street tacos, which come only with the meat and tortilla. But they have a huge bar of toppings so you can deck out your tacos how you want. We also ordered the guacamole which was, in my opinion, the best guacamole I've had that I didn't make myself. When I went, I was ecstatic for my first taste of these Tik Tok tacos with the consomé. Tried Chido Taco when it first opened, before it had a bar, and admittedly wasn't impressed. Our friends said they love the place so we decided to give it a second try. We got take out from Chido Taco and it was really good! I had the Al Pastor (Marinated Pork), Campechano (Steak & Chorizo), Suadero (Beef), and Pollo Adobado (Chicken Adobo) tacos. I enjoyed all of them, but I especially liked the Al Pastor and the Campechano. I thought all of the ingredients tasted fresh and were not at all greasy. And that is even after a 15-20 minute car ride home! My husband had a burrito and he was also really happy with his meal. Our order came with a mix of some salsas, though I'm not sure what they all were. I've heard about their salsa bar and can't wait to try it once the pandemic is over. Chido Taco is a solid place to get a standard taco in Raleigh. They're in a slightly middle ground though of being right between being Edgy (like a place like Wicked Taco) or very traditional Mexican style street tacos. This is probably dangerous ground, since the purists that like Mexican style tacos (eg. "Here's a tortilla and some charred meat. Oh, and some cilantro.") will probably think it's no good, and the people that want an edgy taco (eg. Wicked Tacos El Buli Taco - "Steak al carbon, hatch queso, caramelized onion, cilantro, mushroom, grilled bells and Jack cheese") will be disappointed too. In the end, Chido Taco's quality and attention to proper seasoning / taste / etc makes them rival most all other taco places in Raleigh. However, the people of Raleigh haven't really been drowned in taco choices (the best way to drown!) like a lot of major cities in America. Chido is undoubtedly good. But they'll never please the Mexican purists - that's fine, those guys can go to a traditional taco place and eat (boring?) tacos all day. For Cuido, I'd love to see them explore some more adventurous culinary ideas, take some risks with a taco or two on the menu, and appease the hipsters such that they'll get a bit of a cult following. Just ordered frijoles tacos and baja fish tacos which came with rice and beans. We also ordered queso dip with chips .The fish was soggy and the frijoles was wet and runny , no taste and unappealing. We threw all 4 tacos in the trash. I did eat the queso dip and rice with beans. We were so disappointed. I didn't even want my money back. Folks you can do better than that. Simply amazing. I had a al pastor bowl with cilantro rice, black beans, cheese, corn, salsa, and spinach. My partner had two al pastor tacos and an al pastor torta. Everything was absolutely delicious! Food came out hot and presented neatly. If you are not a spicy food eater then it may be spicy. We ordered the chips and guac, chicken quesadilla, and three a la carte tacos (chicken, beef, pork) and enjoyed all of it! There is a salsa bar for the tacos that has numerous fixin's such as 4 different types of salsa and other toppings...and that was just the food. We ordered a modelo and then two of the speciality mezcal drinks that were so over the top tasty! Safe to say there is not a drink I wouldn't try on the menu. Awesome atmosphere. Good food, a little fusion. The chicken tacos have pineapple and the names have a different names. Instead of Carnes asada,they say bistec. The also have Cuban sandwiches, hence fusion concept. Overall , good execution. Drinks are glass bottle, and plates are plastic. It's self serve ,so you'll need to get up for everything.
