As a Hawaiian I hate to do this. I really do. But I'm hoping they can improve my reading this review. Idk what's been going on lately but the quality of the food has just been going down and down. And for $15,$18,$20 plates and it being a local food truck I'd expect some pride in their food. The food is not good let's be honest here. I have had many plate lunches being born and raised in Hawaii but these plate lunches come out over cooked, taste like it's been pre cooked and re heated, chicken is served cold and not crisp, and the kalua pork was over slated and peppered to taste almost like beef jerky. Come on..... where in Hawaii has kalua pig ever had coarse black pepper? It was so much pepper on the kalua pig I had to throw it away after one bite.
Now the kalbi. Yesterday was my third time ordering from this truck and unfortunately it will be my last. The kalbi was over cooked. To the point it was in edible. It was like it was cooked, then re heated. It had a horrible taste of propane gas. I spent $19 for a combo plate of kalbi and garlic furikake chicken. The plate came out with rock hard kalbi, cold chicken that was soft and not crispy at all. The plate was missing Mac salad. I was just so disappointed. I ate a few bites and had to throw it away. That's twice I had thrown plates away from this truck. I told my self after the kalua pork that I'd never eat there again but being from Hawaii I want to support my people. But lord... I can only support where it should be supported..
You guys made a Hawaiian plate for porkys luau day. It had laulau, poke, kalua pig and poi. That was so delicious. But the kalua pig never have pepper in it. How come you guys put pepper in your everyday kalua pig but when it was in the Hawaiian plate never have? (Cause pepper no belong in kalua pig) be authentic to the cultures food) that's what makes the food its best. When it's authentic. If the plate is $18,$19,$20 ... give the people who is eating your food a impressed experience not just something put on a plate to make money... from the taste of the Hawaiian luau plate my first time eating at this truck, I know their food can be good.... But it's just getting bad. 2 thrown away plates from in edible food is not a good way to keep what could have been a loyal customer read more
