I'm rating just the food. Service, atmosphere, price and all that jazz is all an "A-OKAY" in my book. I ordered carne asada with a horchata. They give you salsa and chips while you're waiting for your meal. The food came in about 10 minutes, pretty quick considering the steak would be on the grill for a moment. The meal came with refried beans, salad, rice and the streak. I first dip my fork into the beans and it tasted like nothing. Really. I expected the texture to be what it was, but there was fundamentally no taste. The rice was okay, but it was sparse. The salad took up a great majority of my plate and I saw no point in trying to consume it. The steak was very thin, no browning to the meat. I pretty much used a fork to cut it. The steak was flavorless, fatty and required salt to make it palatable otherwise I was eating something rather boring and mundane. All the other restaurants close early on Sundays and this was the spot I chose. I'm always weary about restaurants that use "authentic" in their name. Came here for dinner at 630pm and it was super busy. When we asked for a table we were told it would take 45 minutes. The next lady we spoke to said she just needed to clean off a table and we can be seated. The next person said there are no tables available but that we would be seated once one was available. We were so confused. We sat and waited for 40 minutes as people flooded in for pickup and carryout orders. When we were seated, I had a burrito especial steak with a horchata. After we got our food it took awhile to get the accompanying salsa but it was super delicious. Overall food is great. The service is a bit scattered but that is because they are so busy. read more

I haven't eaten much Mexican food since I moved to Lancaster County. In fact, there doesn't seem to be a lot of authentic Mexican restaurants in the area, unfortunately. But lucky for me, I discovered one soon after I moved in July. Chilangos Authentic Mexican Restaurant (CAMR) is located in downtown Lititz. Leticia Martinez and Erik Suarez, mother and son--natives of Mexico City, are the owners of CAMR and they opened their new business January 2016. The first time I visited I ordered tacos. Their lengua (beef tongue) and al pastor were my favorites. The lengua was so extraordinary tender that it tasted like pot roast! And the sweetness of the pineapple with the al pastor was a perfect balance. My second trip I ordered Camarones ala Diabla, which is spicy shrimp. The peppers and shrimp along with the wonderful sauce went into my tortilla along with some rice. Talk about an explosion of flavors in my mouth! I only recently started to like shrimp but I'm trying to make up for it. The staff here is wonderful and, while the ambiance is nothing fancy, it has a festive feeling in the air. This was our first time trying Chilangos which we did due to a few recommendations and a special on a discount site. The place is very cozy and I felt as if I was in someone's home as they cooked for me. It is not pretentious by any means but their food speaks volumes for them. The pork/pineapple quesadillas I had were phenomenal ..if only my pork tasted like that. I aldi had a drink of horchata. I never tried horchata before but I'm glad I gave it a chance; it tasted like rice pudding. Yum. My boyfriend had a combo plate which he really enjoyed also. We will definitely return to try more of their food. The only con I could say is that the combo plate could've been bigger and the girl in the kitchen needs to stop playing with her hair..kinda gross. read more

Lancaster County is one of our favorite places to go. We arrived at our local hotel after dark and set forth to find good food to refuel and relax after a long day of driving. We are still not ready to eat in and we had our pup with us so take out at the hotel was in order. Chilangos is fantastic. The staff is friendly and eager to please. Now for the food... The Mexican sausage nachos were delicious and happily enjoyed with fresh guacamole prepared by the restaurant. The steak fajitas were very flavorful and fit nicely in the flour tortillas. The finish to the meal was deliciously firm flan with just the right amount of caramel. Please go and enjoy whether eating in or taking the meal to go. I can saw I've been there twice...and still haven't tried the food. My suggestion is don't go there past 130pm-dinner time. First time I was there was around 2pm. No one came and sat me down. No one I'm sight. I waited 15 mins with no service of any kind. Second time. Waitress must have had a bad day. Attitudes was awful. I asked about contactless pay and she said no. I love Chilangos. I ordered my usual chicken chimichanga this evening, and something is off. If my tastebuds are to be trusted, they have changed their chicken to something cheaper, possibly pre-seasoned. Either way, it was apparent that something was different. She must be family of the owners she is the best. I worked for an airline and flew to Mexico regularly. It's so hard to find authentic in Pa. This place will not let you down. I really like the food here. Tastes authentic and everything we ordered was really good! Tried chicken taco-I loved it because the corn tortillas are crispy yet chewy, had plenty of cilantro and onion and NO tomatoes! Also tried the pork chimichanga-full of great flavor, and the shrimp burrito. Excellent all around. Free chips and great salsa can't be beat of course. I know that seems to be the staple at Mexican places so it's nice this place offered that too. Service was a tad slow but very friendly. I will definitely be coming back to try other items. Love Mexican food but was disappointed with part of my lunch. This was my first time and excited to try given reviews and "authentic " used in name. My wife and I had two versions of their burritos and we both enjoyed them so that was the high point. Several of the ladies working there were friendly and appreciative of our coming in. Our waitress however was just okay and not very impressed with her follow up on keeping our drinks full and making sure we did not need anything else throughout our meal. One other disappointment was the homemade guacamole, it had an ingredient that was way too heavy, like maybe sour cream? I like sour creme but I wanted guacamole and maybe some peppers and onions thrown in. I paid $8. for this and a handful of chips and left 2/3. By the time we were done, we owed over $60. Including a 20% tip. Kind of expensive when the only extras were cheese and guacamole. This and the less than attentive waitress scores 3 stars. The ambiance was typical and even had the Mexican heat included a little bit but I got used to it. I will return if my wife wants to but I want one of the authentic waitresses. read more

As a Texan who also spent times in Mexico City I have very high standard of authentic Mexican food. I'm surprised to find this Mexican restaurant in this small town where population is not quite diverse. At the beginning we hesitated to eat there because The front dining tables which are next to the windows seemed empty even during dinner time. However It has spacious dining area which is quite full in the behind. We ordered torta and some tacos. Torta is great but the bread can be toasted little longer to have crispy surface. Taco tortilla is kind of dry. Also it would be better if topping has more fresh onions and cilantro. The Tortola chips is okay but dipping sauce is too sweet and not spicy enough for me. Did a quick search for vegan restaurants in Lititz. Stopped in Chilangos... very friendly, very clean. Nice music, Ordered the Vegetarian burrito. Prior to that the chips and salsa arrived. Hot chips! Love em. Good salsa. Burrito arrived, excellent. Filled with rice and veges, also had a hot sauce with it, topped with guacamole on top. Would highly recommend. Plan on returning with the family. As far as kids meals they have chicken fingers and cheese quesadillas on the menu but of course they have all the authentic Mexican food as well. Excellent place. We sat out on their back deck and enjoyed an excellent lunch of tacos and a sope. The tacos were a selection of three different flavors of pork, all quite flavorful. The sope was a chicken dish and was also very well done. This Mexican restaurant is a welcome addition to the food offerings in the area. Good service, a pleasant staff, and a nice ambiance.
