I will never bring my child back to this facility. Staff is horrible, class 9&10 are run by the children. Often the kids are yelling and screaming and running around with little supervision. My child was kicked by another student and bullied. The last straw was when my child had an asthma attack and the school called to have me pick them up or bring medication. I informed them that I had an inhaler onsite along with the medical form. The assistant director never registered my child's medical information in the system so no one at the daycare was aware of the child's medication being available for them. Staff and leadership were dismissive and lacking professionalism. Most incidents were never reported or documented leading to a lack of transparency and accountability. read more

My 3 year old son was just kicked out of this daycare in his first day, within 3 hours of dropping him off. He's autistic with speech delay. Apparently he was kicked out because he opened the door leading from his classroom to the playground and strayed outside. I asked and was told that the door cannot be locked from the inside the classroom to prevent kids from straying into the playground. Apparently the class is too large that their staff cannot stop or prevent 3 year olds from straying outside. They exercised zero patience for a 3 year old autistic child and kicked him out. I will be filing a discrimination complaint with the proper authorities because I feel like the poor kid is being discriminated against for his disability. So buyer beware. read more

The daycare really tried it ! First of all my baby is in room 3 but I was being charged for room two because it's more money but that's not even the point! I was out of town and my mom let me know that on Friday she came home with smashed fingers and a bruise! They told me that she fell on the steps and got the bruise on her head, and then another baby stepped on her fingers... but when I took her to the doctor, the doctor clearly said that her fingers had been smashed in something... so upon confronting them and asking them to see the cameras Joanne proceeds to tell me that she only has live feed of the cameras and that she doesn't know what happened to her fingers.... Then tells me that there's three teachers in the classroom....? Soo if there is three teachers six, eyeballs somebody should have seen what happened to my child!! your literal job is to watch my kid and it wasn't like she didn't scream you can see in the picture how bruised her finger is she definitely cried! Because "I don't know" is never a good answer When something happens to your child and the people you pay to take care of them doesn't know what happened.! Then the teachers are quitting left and right ! She has been through at least five teachers..! We both know that if you have a bad work environment you're not going to care about your work... so when you have the people at the front desk watching your kids, because all of your teachers are quitting because of bad management there's a problem... I walked in the room yesterday, and my child was quite literally standing on top of the toy shelf! I didn't get a picture of course because I was so busy yelling at her to get down so she didn't get hurt and so they can't say they didn't know what happened in this situation either! survey says 0 out of 5... avoid the school read more

I would beware of leaving my child in this facility. I have a family member that used this daycare and ttey called CPS on her because her toddler had one small bruise on his leg. They didnt know if maybe it occurred when the children were all playing on the playground at the daycare or not. They just immediately blamed his family and called CPS. That could have gone horribly wrong for all his family because we were so scared he would be taken from us and placed in the system. It affected me deeply and I'm very scared of the daycare workers. read more

Okay so my daughter only been in for 2 weeks she is in the 3-4 year old class but I can already tell I'm going to love this place. She is still timid on going but it has always been just me and her dad all her life so she needs to get used to the change. But man I love the daily pictures I get through out the day. I'm able to peep in on the camera and she's always busy. I had one concern where she said her friends were mean and I brought it up the school was really good on getting it handled. So far I am loving this school... please keep up the good work and communicating . Her teachers are friendly I'm truly at ease as of right now leaving her there . read more

I love this place. My child has been going here for almost 3 years and she loves it! She has learned so much and she loves her teachers. There is not a lot of teacher turnover. It's very clean, the office staff is super nice. read more

Despite what came out in the news yesterday, this school has been amazing for our family. My son has been enrolled since August and he has learned so much! He's happy, learning, and socially, really come out of his shell. He loves to come home and tell us about his day and all the fun he had. He has made so many new friends and he loves his teachers. I truly trust this school with my sons education, but more importantly, his safety. read more

We have loved having our daughter, Elora, at this school! She is always welcomed with open arms and some days doesn't want to leave. The teachers genuinely care and keep us very informed about her day. She has had a keen interest in learning and reading which makes us thrilled. Worst experience in day care. My daughter started day care last year, when she was less than 2 years old. We just moved from Chicago. My husband and I were excited to get her back into the same routine because she had been doing so well in her previous daycare. She is a smart, independent and outgoing little girl, but unfortunately she only lasted one month at his school. She would cry every time I dropped her off (and I'm all for building a kids independence but this was not the case). She would say she was scared and what not. I thought okay, she's only 3 any maybe with "time" it would get better. No. At her old school, if she was sad, the teachers would sit her on their lap until she was "ready" for class. At this daycare, she was just put on the circle rug, left alone, crying with no teacher comforting her. While she was crying, another kid got in her space, and my daughter got yelled at by one of the teachers, Candace, because my daughter wasn't happy with this kid being in her space. As I watched this through the window (yeah, I would recommend everyone to do the same), of her class on week 4, I had about enough, I grabbed my little girl that had been crying while her teachers did nothing, and told them that it was the last day for my daughter in that school. Needless to say. I wouldn't recommend this day care to anyone. Especially if you're a parent trying to find a comforting yet welcoming environment for your kids. This place is not for you. read more

We love Children's Lighthouse! Our 5 year old has been enrolled for almost 3 years, and we are so happy to have such a great facility that provides such great care! They are very welcoming, inviting, and responsive. They truly care about the children and the parents! My son has been attending daycare at Children's Lighthouse for over a year, while no daycare is perfect, they really are caring and he has learned so much since starting there. Every day when I pick him up he asks if he can come back the next day. He loves his teachers and talks about Miss Kristen all the time. The owners and the director are actively involved in the day to day activities. Although the recent incident is horrifying, the and staff at Children's Lighthouse have remained professional and willing to answer any questions asked of them by parents. They have made themselves available and I am confident they will continue to provide great care to my son and do everything in their power to keep him safe. read more

My son has attended this daycare for a little over 6 months. It is a new location of this chain of daycare centers, and is conveniently placed right next to the neighborhood elementary school, intermediate school and jr. high school all in the Harmony subdivision. The school is very nicely decorated, and always clean. There is a beautiful ocean mural within the lighthouse in the ceiling, in lobby of the building. The center uses a keypad for entry into the building, and you must check your child in using the computer sign in system. My child was in the preschool class room, and loved all of his teachers. He was welcomed every morning by his friends and teachers, and enjoyed the time that he spent there. The center provides meals and snacks, that are freshly made in their kitchen. Many mornings, there is coffee and muffins, or Nutrigrain bars for the parents as you walk out of the center. The curriculum is age appropriate, and my son learned a lot. The preschool children get homework on Monday that is due on Friday. They incorporate technology into the classroom, and my 4 year old already knows his way pretty well around the PC. The teachers take pictures throughout the day and email them to you, but there is also a camera system in the classrooms. At the end of the day, you receive a daily report in your email discussing your child's day, the activities they completed, what and how much your child ate, and when he/she napped. The owners are very personable and down to earth, with realistic goals and expectations for their center. This center is very much like a school, in that you even have the school play experiences. They had a holiday special at the local school, where the children sang and performed for the parents. I cannot say enough about this daycare. My only gripe is that it is on the pricier side, but when it comes to your children, sometimes you get what you pay for. All in all, I would recommend this daycare. read more

In the holiday spirit, I would like to express my appreciation to the personnel and owners of the Children's Lighthouse at Harmony. I find the school to be highly dynamic and buzzing with energy. I love the fact that I do not need to convince my son to go--he just goes! I highly value the fact that the owner, Glenice Saldanha, knows all of the children by their first names and is often on the grounds, helping out and making sure that things are great. I sense creative intent and respect for academic rigor in everything their personnel does, as a school and for every child individually. I also like that the school provides an employment opportunity for many young people, who, remain committed to the education of young children. Between the buzz, field trips, and extra-curricular events the school hosts and sponsors, I think that Children's Lighthouse is a really valuable organization in our community. Elena read more
