They have a nice gift shop with yarn with the names of the alpaca the wool came from, as well as other alpaca products from Peru. This gem has been the highlight of our weekend and I have recommended a visit to everyone who has asked about our trip, including our super nice Uber driver at 2:30 in the morning.

However, I already checked on the areas that they service before i called, and macomb and Oakland county are both mentioned online/on their website. In addition, when i went to their Facebook page prior to calling the most recent event was a birthday party in Bloomfield which is VERY close to Pontiac. When i mentioned the website said Oakland and macomb county and their Facebook shows that they were in Bloomfield, the lady went silent on the phone. Ignoring me for at least 30 seconds. After saying "hello" repeatedly, i hung up to call back again, thinking maybe she loat reception (Doubted it, but wanted to give her the benefit of a doubt).I hung up and called back again twice and even left a voicemail the second time, only to be ignored and for my call to not be returned. As many times as I had driven past Domino's along Route 23, I never knew there was a petting farm nestled back in there! Very well kept, animals' pens were clean, animals all looked very healthy and well cared for. The grounds were also well maintained. Sheep, horses, goats, rabbits, chickens, peacock, donkey, alpaca, geese, etc. In various pens inside and outside of the barns. Animals outside of the buildings also had coverage areas built for them. An aged stationary tractor is on display for children to climb up onto the seat and play "Farmer John" for a while. There was also a playground area as well as an oversized doll house for children to experience. A poll barn is used as a gathering center for birthday parties, etc. Great idea for children to go and experience farm animals up close and personal. Fun afternoon.

We go in to the welcome center and our kids-all under 9-are excited to see the farm animals and feed them. We wait around for someone and finally the blonde kid shows up out of nowhere behind the counter and just stands there awkwardly looking at us. We say hi and discuss options for family entrance fee vs individual fees. As my sister and I argue about who will pay, we hear loud barking and out jumps a large black dog from behind the counter and is barking at all the little kids. I immediately step to the side of the counter and survey where all the kids are- the little ones are all screaming and crying. My sister stays calm and immediately goes to her 1 1/2 year old to comfort her and my 3 year old is next to her and her 4 year old is unable to get to her and they are all hysterical. I try to find a way to get to them but the dog is angrily barking between us. My older two immediately run out of the place. Blonde kid is standing there relaxed and smiling not saying a word to us or the dog. I look at him and say oh is he on a leash? He slowly responds no and says he's safe or something vague. I look at him confused and he really is enjoying it and having a hard time hiding it. My sister manages somehow to get over to the door with the kids clinging to her and I finally get to my kids to comfort them. Our kids normally love seeing dogs and have had many positive experiences with dogs, but that was aggressive barking in a tiny space, and the dog seemed otherwise well-trained so I'm sure he didn't sense danger when these tiny humans entered. Do all the kids get barked at here? By this time the kids are traumatized especially the birthday girl and my sister's 4 year old. They don't enjoy the rest of the farm at all and continue crying when they see the goats and sheep when they normally love visiting the farm and feeding the animals, who not to mention don't seem to be well-cared for either.

So I thought how fun would it be to have a cowboy horse & a petting farm. I Talked with Deb before even booking the party to make sure all the kids would be able to ride the pony. At first I asked for a horse because most of the kids would be around 10-11 years old. I was told a horse would be too hard for the little kids but she would send me a large pony that would be perfect for my age range. I told her no one would be over 120 pounds. She even asked me to put it in an email and I did. I am sharing that email in the photo section. I confirmed this with the owner several times before the party. Fast forward to party day when the problems all began. She sent 2 girls to work my one hour party. The one girl that ran the petting bunny area was EXTREMELY rude to all the little kids. Even rolling her eyes at them when they asked what kind of balloons she could make. She yelled at them multiple times when kids 3 years old were petting the baby bunnies. To a point of me and several parents going in the bunny pen to help. It was so embarrassing that people at my party were being treated this way. Several of the bunnies kept escaping. She yelled at the 3 year old birthday boy when he went to get a second handful of food from the food bucket they bring. She said "you already fed the animals." We tried to talk to her to help change her bad mood but it was the entire time and super disappointing as this was a kids party. The other thing I would like to warn you about is that TONS of the kids were turned away from riding the pony. The girl working said they were too tall. One of the girls was a tiny 10 year old weighing no more that 65 pounds. If height was a requirement I should have been told that before the party. Like I said I discussed this with her multiple times. So only a few little kids got to ride over and over. When you pay over $500 for someone to bring animals to your party you expect at least kind service. I contacted the owner before coming to social media. She said the girl working the party was only 14 years old. While she did say she would talk to her she made all kinds of excuses. I think it would be better to have an adult working something like this. She told me the bigger pony they had used at a different party that day and had problems with so they switched to this one. I understand things happen in life but those are not a customers problem. While I couldn't come to an agreement with the owner I thought I could at least warn all my friends or anyone thinking to book for a party! Stay far away. I wished I would have booked somewhere else. After having the party I had several people recommend Tyler's exotic animals. They said he is much more kid friendly. Just super disappointed that so few kids got to ride the pony & that the other worker that ran the balloons/petting area treated everyone so rotten. It was an awful experience and I have booked lots of big things for events. Never have I had to deal with this kind of unprofessionalism. Truly disappointed.

Had a fun afternoon with extended family at their autumn pre-Halloween event. Also had a corn/candy cannon that was fun to watch and attracted many school-aged kids, along with a corn maze. Lots of traditional autumn treats at their concession stand. Wide selection of autumn decor items including beautiful mums in planters and pots. Although I haven't been to many agritourism events like this for several years, I was impressed with the organization and scale of the Stevens' operation -- big enough to have something for everyone, but not so big that you felt overwhelmed by crowds. Also appreciated the welcoming atmosphere. Had a nice conversation with a member of the Stevens family who gave us some history of the event and took our family picture at the end of the hayride. It was worth an hour drive for us.

Took a wagon ride out to the…read morewoods and learned all about the farm and how they sustain it and then learned all about the sugar maples and how to tap the trees! We came back to the sugar bush house to hear about the process of syrup making. It definitely kept my 12 & 14 year old interested! The farm itself is also so fun to visit. And of course we bought honey on the way out since we got to see their bee grounds too! It was a really fun day out! The farmers are so passionate about what they do there. It's certainly educational but it's a really fun place to visit for events and just seeing some farm life, land, and animals

The "zoo" has gone downhill since our last visit. Less animals than before and not much worth the cost of admission. Even the employees seem unhappy. The visit to the website was the best part of the experience, if that tells you anything. Zoo standards must be awful low. Don't go with high expectations and you're assured to not get let down as much. On the positive side, the porta-potty in the middle of the zoo was decently clean. Two hours and $82 later and we now know we won't be back. We'll just go a little further south to the Toledo Zoo next time.
