(We already did preliminary x-ray, ice and elevation prior to my deeper concern) I requested that he be ordered an MRI due to abnormal palpitation of his knee and surrounding tissue, increased pain and decreased mobility. After a quick examination, I was told he did not need the MRI and to continue to ice/elevate. Mind you, I would not have brought my son into her office had I thought this was a normal healing process. One week later, my son woke up in agony and could not put weight on his left knee. Went to ER, sat for 12 hours (and what do you know, they ordered an MRI!!!) and he was transferred to Rady children's for surgery and drainage of infected fluid in a rare condition that happens in blunt force traumas called "morel Lavallee lesion" Had this doctor listened to my concerns and ordered the MRI as I tried to justify to her, we could have handled the problem a week sooner and non emergent, likely saving me thousands in an ER visit. The visit was pointless otherwise, and clearly my concerns were not taken seriously. Avoid.

This exact thing happened with our first, and our old pediatrician handled it terribly--immediately mentioning "failure to thrive" and making us feel panicked and inadequate. So this time, as Dr. Phan was gently walking me through the next steps, I started crying. But instead of jumping straight to suggesting formula, he encouraged me to take care of myself first and to pump to see what my output was. To my surprise, I was producing plenty of milk. They are helpful, kind, patient, and consistently accommodating--especially when something urgent comes up. We always feel supported, never dismissed or rushed. Honestly, we never want to leave this area solely because of this practice. If we ever move, we're already prepared to make the drive back just to keep Dr. Phan and his team in our lives. She's going to do a very lengthy exam as well. She's very talkative and can keep that clocking running up with the best of them. Before you know it, it's been 3 hours and a lot has been talked about and you have a long list of vitamins and medicines that she conveniently has stock piled in her office. You go to check out and it went from a $500 consult to $2500 in exam and medicines. Probably have a feeling when you leave of "what's the plan other than to come to another appointment". I never once got a true provider, caring feeling from this woman. Has used car-salesman with a litigation feeling when talking to her. We made a phone follow up appointment with her a month later, but worked with Paul to get it rescheduled - he confirmed this. However, Dr Ruiz herself still called on the original day. We explained we were not in the position to take the appointment and she said no problem but that she would still be billing us for the full hour, even though it was a 60 sec conversation. That was a $500 phone call. We have never heard back from this team in over a year. They do not care one bit about treating your child. They just want to milk you for money. We used to live in LA and were referred to this Dr by family in Temecula. My kids were born in LA. We moved when they were newborn to Hemet. We drive to Temecula from Hemet just to see this doctor. He and his staff have been nothing but amazing. ANYTIME I call, they have answered and even have given us same day appointments if need be! They NEVER have multiple patients piled up in the waiting room for hours which is nice when you have young children and covid/flu going around. I also never have to wait more than 3 minutes TOPS in the waiting room. This doctor is the expectation of what I want in a doctor as an adult. I believe when you make an appointment, you should be seen at that appointment time and that's exactly what this doctor does. He's never condescending or rude, but he does tell the truth and is straightforward with you. It sounds like some of the comments that people can't handle the truth. I went through pediatric partners when my son was born and every time I went, I had to wait over two hours. That's really difficult with a newborn and a mom who is just giving birth. I also saw a different doctor every time which is also frustrating because having to re-explain certain medical condition conditions or situations is also frustrating. Pediatric partners and Hemet really dropped the ball with us several times his first year of life. So we ended up switching over to Dr Azhand and let me tell you it's been a game changer. Please don't read the negative reviews on this app and think that he's just the worst doctor in the world. Since you can't efficiently get ahold of anyone on the phone this required my husband to make an extra trip to drive across town to find out in person. Now let's chat about the Patient Portal where we messaged the Doctor on February 11th and the office did not return our call/message for A MONTH. 2nd appointment. Our $100 copay was conveniently collected but our appointment time came and went with zero communication from the office. I remained in a hold queue for 30 minutes, about to hang up when a text comes through with a Zoom link. Dinner is now cold, there is zero respect for patient time and I am expected to join this call as if I was not just completely inconvenienced at the cost of $100. At the end of the day we are all trying to navigate a broken system. Practices that have zero respect for patient time are not helping. With that being said, my recent time there a few weeks back was absolutely horrible. The staff is new & unorganized as well as very slow, the books are no longer in the waiting room, they have an automated phone system that takes annoying long to get through to an actual front desk person & the nurse practitioner (Angela, I think) was so extremely pushy on my daughter getting two vaccines. I recommend NOT going there! I am very unhappy with the changes that have been made.
