Ah Chilis, the epitome of american mexican food. I normally don't write a yelp review on chain restaurants, because it really depends on the location, staff, etc. However, this chilis restaurant sent chills up my spine. First off, we had to wait for our main dishes for what seemed like forever, and then, when they actually came, everything was cold!! The presentation was purely mediocre but it's a chain restaurant you can't expect much. I ordered a grill combo thing with brisket and chicken tendies, it was definitely not worth the wait. The brisket tasted pre-made and the chicken tasted like a dried shoe bottom. I was in town with a colleague, the snow was coming down and we decided to walk over to Chili's as it was close and easy. We were greeted quickly by the hostess and sat down in a booth near the bar. The waitress came quickly got us our drinks and we placed our orders. The food arrived quite quickly. She had a burger and I had the mushroom jack fajitas. Ordered to go. Ordered the Triple Dipper with the Southwest egg rolls, Bigmouth Bites, and chicken crispers. The Southwest egg rolls are basically just 2 egg rolls from a local Chinese restaurant. The sliders look like they were scraped off the side of the griddle, and had no onions or sauce on them. And the crispers tasted like they were microwaved 5 minutes before I came to pick them up. AND they forgot the sauce for the egg rolls. The restaurant was not busy enough to even justify the crappy presentation, let alone the half-assed product. FAIL! read more

I HATE CILANTRO. Big time. While dining at the Collins Road Chili's last night, I gave our server my usual admonishment: "If anything has cilantro in it, please put it on the side." We thought our dinners took a little longer than usual to come out, but there were several groups of diners who arrived at the same time, so we attributed the wait to that. Imagine my delight when our meals did hit the table and there, on my Margarita chicken, was CILANTRO-FREE MANGO SALSA!!! In all these years since the cilantro craze began, I have never had a chef take the time to make the meal as stated on the menu, sans the evil cilantro. Bravo, Chili's on Collins Road. Gross, gross, gross. This place was dirty. Garbage all over the floor, especially in the restroom. It was also freezing. I ordered the pick three app is, and my spinach and artichoke dip was cold. My nephew's cheese pizza had hardly any cheese on it. The iced tea tasted terrible. They were not busy at all, and the server was very flighty. I normally wouldn't go to this kind of restaurant but after 16 hours of travel and right next to the hotel it was pretty appealing. The waitress made a mistake on my beer order and bought me a Coors light I never had this so I thought I might just try it, not bad at all. I ordered the salmon and chicken combination with steamed broccoli really wasn't that bad. Have eaten here before, but in the last month I have dined here twice. Food: OK, just like every other chain that offers a varied menu. The two for twenty offerings are someone limiting, but it does give a value priced appetizer/meal option. Each time I've had the onion straws with jalapeno slices. Not bad, but still just so-so. There is nothing on this menu that would make me go here instead of Applebees, TGI Fridays or one of the countless other clones. Service: Sub-par. As a former manager I would be kicking some server butt. No suggestive sell, no knowledge of menu, limited check back and horrible with keeping glasses filled. Also, whatever happened to the server knowing who ordered what? With four people you ring it in clockwise around the table. But no, she comes out and auctions off the food; "Who had the chicken strips?". Heck they did it when there was two of us. Both times it was not very busy, so I can't give them a pass on that. Sorry. Cleanliness: FAIL. Sticky menus, food on floor, gross, gross, gross. We came in and had to walk over a dirty fork in the walkway. When we left, it was still there. I joked to husband that I could smell a lawsuit waiting to happen. Brought my nieces here for dinner. The curly haired blonde hostess did not smile or greet, rather just asked how many and set us down in a wet table. Sat for seriously 15 minutes until the waitress came over to even talk to us and get us drinks. We had already pick out our orders, played 3 games of tic tac toe, doodled in the activity book, and gave a review on the movie we saw. Still watched the hostess not smile at other people coming in here. Table was missing the tablet, the hostess knew she forgot to put it on here, but didn't give it to the kids. So our experience wasn't nearly as awful as some of the others on here. And on a Tuesday night with children in tow, it is a good deal, but if I were just going out to eat with Mr. Snarky or friends, I would certainly avoid Tuesday nights. Although it did look like they were trying to seat families in one area and those without children in one area. There were three adults and two children and while some small families were sat at the huge booths, the hostess did try to squeeze us into a small booth. We ended up asking her for a different table because there was no way we were going to all squeeze in there, especially with winter coats, etc. We ended up at a slightly bigger table and squeezing in a fifth chair. I will say that our waitress was really great. She was attentive, checked on us, kept our drinks topped up, and was very patient with us (kind of needed when eating with children). As for the food, it is standard chain restaurant food, however, I have to say that the food was hot, it was well presented, and it tasted pretty good. I do find the place to be a bit on the pricey side for the type of food they serve. While there wasn't food on the floor, the table, menus, and some of the silverware could be cleaner as there were sticky spots and questionable stains, which is really where most of the deduction of stars come from. Food and service are important, but cleanliness is even more important and can ruin a night out instantly. Its not bad, but they could do better! read more

I'll be honest, I go here for the Terlingua Chili and happy hour. Aside from that, I think it's pretty average across the board. I do like the fact that you can pay with there little card swiper thingy on the table. Beats waiting for the server to make his or her way over. Standard Chili's restaurant. We were seated quickly in the bar area. I had the 6oz sirloin and boss had the steak fajitas. My steak was cooked as I ordered and the asparagus side was great. Service was good, no complaints there. Just not a huge fan of chain restaurants. Wine was a bit over priced but was cold and fresh. Was on walking distance from our hotel so it was convenient. It seemed they did not have enough servers when we went. Food came out cold and the crispy chicken tenders came out soggy. It took entirely too long to get refills and to pay our bill. The food was so bad we could not eat it. The manger took the chicken tenders off our bill which is what deserves the one star. We will never return to this establishment. read more

Very disappointed. Walked in at 2:05, nobody approached to seat me for 2 min. I walked over to the bar and sat down. Nobody at the bar but me, nobody approached me for 10 min. The only reason I keep patronizing this restaurant is because of their fundraising partnership with my local library. The will donate a certain percentage of your check if you have a coupon code from the library. The food has clearly declined in quality over the last two years and the service isn't much better. On my most recent foray to this location I decided to make use of their online ordering and carry out service. I placed my order with no problem and I was given a pick up time of 6:44. I arrived at Chilis at 6:42 and entered through the door designated for to go orders. There was an employee at the register and she appeared to be entering tickets into the POS system. She did not bother to even acknowledge me until she had finished the three tickets she was working on. When she did finish, I gave her my name and she consulted the screen and told me the food would be ready in a few minutes. She rang up my order and I signed the credit card slip at 6:47 and I proceeded to wait and wait and wait. Finally at about 7:05 she brought out my food and placed the containers in a bag and slid them over to me. At that point i was more than a little irked. While I understand that having the food ready on the exact minute is not possible, I certainly don't expect it to take 21 extra minutes. I told the counter person that and received a chirpy 'Ok' out of her. I also stated that I planed to write a letter of complaint to which I received another chirpy 'Ok'. Not the appropriate response to an unhappy customer.... With food finally in hand I made the journey home which took about 4-5 minutes. I had ordered two of their Fajita Trios with the Cadillac sides of rice and red beans as well as extra of the side items included with the fajitas (sour cream, jalapenos, cheese, guacamole etc.). I received none of the extras, just the normal sized portions that you would have gotten in restaurant. The foiled wrapped tortillas were warm in one of the foam boxes and cold in the other. When I say cold, it felt like they had been removed from the refrigerator recently. The fajita meat in both orders was barely warm and the pepper/onion mix was lukewarm in one box and maybe room temperature in the other box. If the meat and veggies had been cooked properly then there is no way this should have been that cool in the short trip to my house. To make matters worse, the pickup counter is situated such that you can look into the kitchen area. You can't really see the cook's area but you can see where the server's pickup their food and the place was just dirty. The floor needed swept, the garbage can was overflowing and garbage was piled up around the base of the can. I watched two employees throw stuff on the top of the garbage bin just to have it roll off onto the floor. No one bothered to pick it up, it was just left to lay. I would have hated to see what the cook's line looked like. The restaurant wasn't even really that busy. Not that this would have been any more acceptable if it were busy but at least it would be understandable. My wife and I eat out about twice a week. Chilis used to be on the list of places we ate regularly (2-3 times a month). Given the issues, they are lucky if we bother more than once every 2-3 months, and when we do it is only when the library is having a fundraising promotion. I can just as easily drive a few minutes up the street to Chipotle to fulfill my need for meat, beans and rice wrapped in a tortilla and the food is much better quality than what regularly comes out of Chilis these days. read more

I'd assume management is just questionable here because I had raw chicken tenders served to me and sent them back and the server brought them back out instead of a manager and they were not taken off the tab which honestly would be a standard in my mind given it's dark in there and I easily could of eaten them without noticing. If you order to go check your order- customer service was great but things where overlooked and this location could be better, the people in the kitchen talk loud and they like to talk about the customers, I did hear one kitchen person call another a pussy, I admit it was funny but it's a family restaurant. OK, so I don't know why so many people are hating on this restaurant. I found the food above average, service great and great value. What do you want CR? We hadn't been here in quite awhile mostly because it's a chain, which we tend to avoid. So we tried it based on the new promotion they were running. We got there in time for happy hour and enjoyed a big beer at a good price. I ordered the Ribs and my wife ordered the Chicken Fajitas. Included in the deal was a meal salad and a Lava Cake desert. All this for $10 per person, you can't beat that. The ribs were pretty good, not great, but pretty well cooked, with a little something missing in the sauce. The Fajitas were top notch, tender and flavorful. The portion for the Fajitas was sized for one person but plenty, just not what you usually get at other places. The salads came in a small bowl that made it look desceptively small, but we both poured them onto the salad plate that accompanied the bowl, and it was surprisingly large. The salad was as good as anywhere, and their dressings were great. (Balsamic and Blue Cheese) Maybe the best thing was the Lava Cake, with dark chocolate cake, caramel middle, topped with ice cream and chocolate coating. Very nice. So while I wouldn't rank this in the top spot of middle dining for the food, their value was undeniably one of the best in the area. read more

Standard small town restaurant. Plus, it's a chilis. You know what you get when you walk in the door. I was here twice last week since I stayed at an adjacent hotel. Monday I had a very nice small town bartender and had a glass of wine and ordered food to go. Wednesday I also had a nice bartender but she left to go on break for an hour so my tab was transferred to a worn disheveled slender woman with brown rooted hair and blonde ends who despite being in her 40's wore her hair in pigtails and acted like a teenager. The food was good both times I visited, but that drama queen lady in her 40's is dragging this place down, talking smack about other customers within earshot of everyone in the bar. read more

I would not get a drink from here because they are kind of weak but the selection of food is very good. My favorite part of Chili's is that I can sub any meat patty for a spicy black bean burger at no extra cost, even the special burgers that they have. I recently subbed a black bean on a Southwestern Jalapeno burger and it tasted great. You can also sub it in the 2 for $20 menu. The jalapeno and onion appetizer is wayyyy to greasy for my taste but the chips and guac is pretty good. Price for a meal is fair and average too. read more

We usually like chili's. It might have been an off day for our server. My husband ordered sweet tea - received regular. Not a big deal - she made it right. He ordered french dressing with extra she brought one ranch. He ordered another tea -- this time regular tea again with lemon He never ordered lemon to begin with my meal was fine.
