Service is always slow & restaurant is dirty. We were told to use the tablet on our table to pay for our meal. We did, but were stopped at the door & were told we paid the bill for another table. The manager came out & said he would credit our account for the wrong charge & then, we paid for our bill. When we got home & checked our account, we had been charged for 3 different bills & were never credited for the wrong charge. It's been a huge ordeal to get it worked out. It takes a lot for me to write a bad review (or a review at all) but I had the worst experience I've ever had in a restaurant at this Chili's. Right after the hostess seated us I overheard her having a conversation with one of the waitresses. The waitress said she didn't want any more tables. So I figured we would just get another server. 10 minutes pass before anyone even acknowledges our presence. The same waitress who said she didn't want any more tables came up and said she could "finally get to us." Mind you, the restaurant was not packed. It was 5:00pm on a Sunday evening. It was busy, but certainly not slammed. We went ahead and put in our entire order so that we wouldn't have to wait any longer. We got our drinks and chips and salsa pretty quickly. About 40 minutes passed and our waitress came by and said she "didn't know what was taking so long" but could she get us anything. I don't really know what she could have gotten us...I just wanted the food we ordered. But we were nice about it and figured everybody's food was just taking a while. Not the servers fault. About 10 more minutes pass and the table behind us that sat down about 30 minutes AFTER us got their food. At this point I'm mad. And we leave. And we hand our gift card to the nice gentleman waiting to be seated because we will never eat at Chili's ever again. Every server in there was lazy and really didn't seem to care about patrons waiting. I overheard so many excuses not just from our waitress. "That's not my section" "I don't want any more tables". Absolutely ridiculous and horribly managed. I have NEVER walked out of a restaurant and honestly it takes a lot for me to even tip less than 20% even if the server isn't great. A good solid case of pathetic management. Managers should be given an ultimatum, one week to clean up or get out. The "ziosk" on the table was so disgusting I don't see how anyone could touch it. I used a napkin to move it and the napkin stuck to it. Service so far has been mediocre at best of it gets much worse we will be walking out. The sauce used in the baby back ribs was amazing. I had the Barbecue honey sauce and it was simply mouth watering. The wait was about 45 minutes from the time we ordered till the time we had our food. It was worth the wait. The service was good and my beer was always full. I sat down at the bar at 11;05 and sat there for 10 minutes without having anyone ask me for any kind of food or drink order. I left and took my business 400 hundred yards away to Applebee's where I was promptly greeted at the bar, order taken and now I am eating my appetizer, drinking my beer, and waiting on my steak. Took out of town guests to Chilis, Madison, MS. When we said we had a party of seven, we were told they could not seat more than six to a party. We let the hostess know one was a child and with the double table already set up, four could sit on one side and three on the other. No way, she said they could not serve more than six. When asked why, she said they were short on servers. So, we asked if four sat at one table and three at the other, what would be the difference in being served. She then asked the manager who finally said it would be okay but we would have to wait 45 minutes even though the double table was open and no one else was waiting. We assumed they were letting us know they did not want our business. We went to Vassilios and had great service and a great meal. Even though we have been regular customers at this Chilis, we will no longer impose ourselves upon their service. Plenty of good restaurants in the area, so Chilis should beware. read more

I was thinking of taking my visiting family to Chili's since it has always been a favorite where we used to live. The reviews of this Madison restaurant and its management don't make me want to come and visit and really want me to spend my money there. I see where the District Management has commented in 2016, but I still see the same negative comments of slow and disorganized service and a dirty restaurant. It does not seem that either the local Managers, District Managers, or any Management seem to have a clue here. We had dined in the Applebee's down the street and it was a dirty disorganized mess. Every time we have tried to visit Chili's in the past 6 months, the wait has been a 45 minutes minimum, even when we call ahead and/or the restaurant is practically empty. The service was mediocre at best. We could excuse all of that if the food was good, but the food was low quality. We came in at around 7pm on a Thursday night after work. Although the restaurant is nearly empty, we (and others) stood at the front for several minutes while the staff stood around before being seated. The margaritas were good, but even after ordering our meals within 5-6 minutes of being seated, we didn't get food until 7:55. And the food is fast-food level - frozen shrimp, skimpy vegetables. My friend and I went over to chili's at 9:05 and went in and no one came by to sit up. After standing around for 15 minutes we finally sat ourselves and then after 25 more minutes of no one coming by I finally flagged someone down and asked if we could get served and he said that the area we was in was shut down. I have lived in Madison since this Chili's was built. For several years after it opened it was excellent, but it has gone down hill terribly! Tried it again this week as it was my father-in-laws birthday and this was his choice. The hostess was a young twerp, with a smart attitude and was nothing but rude. When I asked her why we hadn't been seated (there were many empty tablets), she said smartly "come on I will seat you now". Our server was very nice but the food was terrible! You could tell they are now using very low quality shrimp and steak. The steak was almost inedible. We had 5 in our party and we all agreed the place had gone down. We came here after leaving the movies nearby. I was with a party of 5, and we were hungry and ready for some margaritas! This was opening weekend for 2 big movies, and Chilis and Applebees are the closest restaurants near the theatre we went to. So it was no surprise that when we arrived to a poorly lit parking lot, we could see that inside was pretty full. Once we checked in, we were told it would be a 45 min to an hour wait because some staff members had walked out. A few parties ahead of us walked out, so we only actually waited around 5-10min. Went to have a nice family outing at the Chili's in Madison and it was the worst experience I have ever had. We had to wait 10 minutes to be seated but for a party of 9 that wasn't even a problem. The problem came when we had to wait 10 minutes for the waitress to start taking our drink order only for her to say she would be right back. That wasn't a problem but she left the floor only to come out 10 minutes later to start taking other tables orders that were seated after us. After finally getting our drinks, we had to wait another 20 minutes for her to come back to get our food order. After waiting 25 minutes, we were able to get 3 kids meals. The other 6 people were left 20 more minutes before we just decided to inform the manager who instantly got a attitude. Our party decided to pay for what we received and hit the door. My advice to anyone considering this restaurant, I would say spend your money somewhere else. read more
