I liked Strawberry Cafe! Food - Spinach and artichoke dip was really good. I also enjoyed the Shrimp Etouffe. It was full of flavor - as it should be. A friend ordered the Train Car. It was a cross between a Philly cheesesteak and a shrimp Po'Boy. It wasn't bad, but it had a lot going on. I don't know that the fried shrimp and beef mesh well or the shrimp with all that cheese. The sandwich comes with a spicy spread and that made it better! Drinks were good! My friend had a Moscow mule. I had a strawberry mimosa, made with strawberry puree. I'd definitely get this again. We had an excellent meal with friendly service and perfect weather on the patio the Strawberry Cafe. We started with the Fried Green Tomatoes with the lemon crab sauce which were perfect. Had a nice dinner in cozy surroundings, but my date and I were uncomfortable the entire time because ceiling fans were blowing cool air on us. They explained that the fans were necessary to keep smoke from the kitchen out of the dining area. They will keep me out of the dining area also. read more

Strawberry Cafe for ever! Recently, we were driving from Chicagoland to New Orleans and decided to stop in Madison Mississippi for the night. Strawberry Cafe was the highest rated option, so we decided to give it a try. We were looking for a local restaurant, offering top-notch food. That is exactly what we found! We started with an appetizer: The Pita Melt - very tasty. Then I had a cup of the Cream of Crab Soup - it was delicious! For our entrees my wife enjoyed the Strawberry Fields Salad and I had the Pasta Creole which was excellent! Service was very friendly and very good. Prices are in-line with what you get. First time eating here after hearing about it from friends. We enjoyed our dinner. We had soup of the day for appetizer, which was excellent andouille. She had the creole pasta, which had shrimp that had not been deveined, which was kind of disgusting. It wasn't very creole-y; needed more spice. He had general TSO's chicken, which was good, solid portion and spicy. Dessert was madison mud and caramel pie. The caramel pie was excellent. The madison mud was good, but not as rich as we'd like. We will likely return, however will skip the creole pasta/shrimp. read more

Sometimes when I allow myself to get too hungry, I drive around aimlessly looking for places to eat. I stopped at Hamil's but the line was too long and they had a medical emergency going on in the parking lot. So I kept driving around. Ended up eating lunch yesterday at Strawberry Cafe. It was a good choice, as I've only done weekend brunch there. Wasn't busy so I was happy about that. I was seated promptly with my drink order taken before I could put my purse down. I loved the biscuit with cinnamon butter they bring to every table. Hate I only had one though. I went with the shrimp poor boy (menu spelling) and onion rings. The bread was toasted but was still soft and wasn't drenched in remoulade sauce. The shrimp were plentiful and seasoned well. The onion rings lacked flavor to me. They are homemade but there was no seasoning in the batter. That was a total let down for me. Service was good. Can't complain about it at all. Quaint and delicious! A great different type of menu. Great if you are with a few folks and everyone wants something g different. I had a fabulous sandwich with sliced prime rib, grilled peppers, cheese, breaded fried shrimps all in a soft hero bread; it comes with a choice of sides so I took the onion rings. My sister had the shrimp and grits which was wonderful also...and of course there was dessert. We had the bread pudding which was warm and tasty. Just driving through town on my way to New Orleans. Hard to find anything wrong with this place. Everything is scratch made, served in a delightful room and with a great staff. I went with the Shrimp and Grits which was served in some kind of cajun gravy. More sweet than spicy but mostly just savory. They did the grits just the way I like them...not to soupy like some places do. Generous portion of shrimp and that hot gravy hit the spot on a cold day. We selected this restaurant off a whim. A few friend viewed the menu to ensure there were vegan friendly options. Due to numerous events in the area, a reservation was required. The wait time wasn't long. We were seated on the patio which was great as the temperature was nice today. The water was not good at all. However, my pasta and bread were very much delicious. Second time coming to Strawberry Cafe. Came on a Sunday right at opening. There were already 4 groups in line at 10:33am so it's a popular spot. The quality is just as good as the first visit. The warm biscuits with the yummy cinnamon honey butter came out quickly upon seating which was nice. I ordered the chicken cutlet again. The chicken was fried and seasoned nicely. My husband had the French toast which is light and airy. He ordered the creamy grits which is awesome. They have good service. Definitely going on my regular list. We are huge fans of strawberry cafe! The food is delicious and we never have any complaints. Whenever family comes into town we always bring them here! However today put such a Bad taste in my mouth we won't be back for a while. We typically have wonderful servers and today was no different - Craig you were amazing thank you so much for awesome service! We usually go at busy times so I hardly ever interact with anyone but our waiter. However, today we went just after the rush of the lunch crowd, purposefully. I have a 2 month old so we try to eat out when it's less busy! That being said when we walked in my mom asked the manager (I think his name was Ben?) If we could sit somewhere less crowded because we have a new baby and a cumbersome stroller. He very rudely stated only one side of the restaurant was open so we would have to sit over there. Mind you we never specified where we would want to sit except that is be not in the most crowded area! He could have politely said what he said, but no, it was hurtful and rude. So much so me and my mom almost walked away just then. But he walked ahead of us with our menus so quick we felt we must follow. Once we got to the main dining hall there was only one other table occupied. Ben motioned to the empty dining hall and told us to pick where we wanted to sit. He was very curt and acted like he was very inconvenienced by our service. I asked if we could sit in the booth in the corner and he very quickly and rudely stated " No that table is already set for dinner." Note- it looked identically set to all the other tables. At this point I'm so uncomfortable with his tone that I wanted to leave just then and my mom tried, but I felt to awkward to make a scene bc he was so abrasive and the setting so quaint. So we sat and ate our meal as usual but he stalked around so grumpy that we both felt very uncomfortable our entire meal. When we got up to leave he stared us out without even a thank you. I would honestly never leave a review. But, I love this restaurant and feel they need to be held accountable for moments like these or they will continue to loose loyal customers.
