My server was attentive and great however front of the house is a different story. First, I just want to add that I was in a serving industry for almost 10 years prior to me becoming a teacher, so I understand the ins and outs of how a restaurant operates. That being said, I was extremely disappointed tonight with the host of the Chili's Montclair location. Specifically The shorter host that was standing on the left part of the podium who was wearing glasses and was a brunette, hair up in a clip. My boyfriend myself and my three-year-old son were waiting for a table and had put our name down. We had received a text message at 6:56 telling us that our table was ready, at 7 we received another text saying our table was given away because we did not reply. Extremely confused we approached the host to ask her if that was something that was explained to us when we had put our name down because my boyfriend and I were not aware of that policy but either way if that policy is enforced 10 minutes had not passed by from the original text message to the second text message telling us our table was given away. I approached the host to show her the messages and the time slots as well, but before I could even explain anything to her, she cut me off and was extremely rude to me, dismissing me, and not even acknowledging that I was just trying to simply show her that 10 minutes had not even passed by and I wanted an explanation as to why she told me and my boyfriend that we didn't respond and she gave our table away because they were waiting 10 minutes when that is false. She smirked at me and told me we had to wait. I did ask to speak to a manager, and she was extremely friendly and very polite and out of everything she was understanding. she was the manager with blue streaks in her hair and I'm really appreciative for her taking the time to speak to me. I understand that Friday nights and weekends are the craziest times to come in to eat, however it is your job to stay professional without giving attitude and being rude to the guest that comes into your restaurant. Believe me I have 10 years of experience and I understand out of all people how frustrating it can be at times, but you're still in a profession and still a career that you chose to do. Not only did this host whole attitude really kill my evening, but my boyfriend and I already have a hard time going out in public because our son is autistic so we get very overwhelmed quickly trying to get to places right away and for this host to be so rude to the both of us and we were just trying to get answers was really uncalled for and I could tell from her attitude that she hasn't been in the industry long and if she has she definitely needs to be RETRAINED. Montclair chilis please choose better hosts. If you can't handle speaking to guests and dealing with everything that comes with it maybe you shouldn't be working in the food industry. read more

I'm so glad Chili's opened indoor dining. Took my sisters to eat and we decided on this restaurant. We had a little bit of a wait but it was well worth the experience. The server was very kind and attentive. He would regularly check up on us and asked if we needed anything. The food was fantastic, we all ordered burgers and they were amazing. My two sisters ordered alcoholic drinks. They rarely drink so it was refreshing to hear that the server would be accommodating and help out with how strong the drink would be. Oh wow, 3 stars is the average for this dump (ambiance); that's a little too much; more like negative 3 stars. A family member said let's go to Chili's since the dumpling place across the parking lot is closed for the day and it's always busy there (serves 10x more customers in efficiency during the day time than this Chili dump). However we went to Chili's when it's the employees sleepwalking time (around 7p). What a big mistake when I already told my family member better option is the mall food court. When we went to the front door at least another guest was at least chit chatting with us but the employees (they actually get paid?) looked so anemic they didn't even have a smile nor energy to say Hi; I almost thought we were at a hospital and the employees acted like patients that have a Hgb of less than 8. We were the 1% ethnicity there as we tried to get a booth seat to sit next to each other instead they wanted to stick us in half a seat booth with a table that's probably a foot squared but since I asked twice we got at least a booth that was more comfortable and that was asking too much; not one server in 10 mins said we'll be with you and that was enough to bring back PTSD of the slow food service thinking I'll be there all night. I would like to put more of a review but that would be putting 100x more energy than they outputted collectively to even lift their employees and a mangers head up to notice us. Never again will be back there and this is probably why haven't been to Chili's in over 10+ years. We were able to get to food court parking lot 5 mins later after we left and ordered food and received food 10 mins later; the amounts time it takes an employee to blink at Montclair Chili's. What a waste of time writing a review for a place that can barely sit you down, get eyeballs rolling just by asking for a seat, and employees running off of no food intake for the day; it seems. Did they even notice we left? They care as much about us as a narcissistic ex does after they use their so called partner up. read more

Good food, terrible service. I took a friend up on a lunch offer at this Chili's location. We sat at the bar because she wanted to enjoy the Happy Hour specials. We quickly ordered(we both ordered the Margarita Grilled Chicken. I ordered a soda and water, she ordered a beer) and the server went on her way. Our meals and my soda/water were brought out in under 10min, but no beer. My friend reminds the server that she hadn't received her beer. The server replies "oh ya" and brings her the beer she ordered. We start on our meal and drinks and chat. 15min go by, we have finished our drinks, but have not been attended to since the beer was brought. We chat a little more, my friend excuses herself to the restroom and asks "when the server comes by, order me another beer". Well, my friend returned from the restroom, but the server still had not come by. We look around, there is no server in sight, no bartender(so no option to step up to the bar to refresh our drinks), and one person sitting at the bar. What the heck? It's been 30+ minutes at this point and no one has even come by to refresh my fountain drink! Mind you, the dining area was not busy at all. My friend is frustrated at that point. I especially loved my Alex burger, it was so spicy and fresh and the bean patty is better than most places that switched to beyond. Now... what wasn't great. My husbands bone in wings were SERIOUSLY over cooked, like super tuff and dry. That was a bumeeeeer. Also the bathrooms were WRECKED! As a married couple that has a child and the fact that it's almost 2019 and convenience rules the world, I was upset to learn that chili's does NOT have a partnership with a delivery provider like Grubhub or Doordash. So unfortunately we had to go out to dinner with a grumpy baby. My hubby enjoys eating here, he orders the same thing everytime. I on the other hand tend to try something new because I haven't found "my dish". You know that go-to entree that never lets you down. This location is usually packed with people in the bar since they have a Happy hour menu with TVs. The servers are always nice. They have a terrific mango Arnold palmer and yummy cocktails. This particular time I tried the Tex-Mex bowl with grilled shrimp no tortilla strips. It was actually really good. The shrimp and guac was really fresh and everything else paired perfectly. Hubby got his usual Triple Dipper sampler with fried cheese and chicken strips. Baby had the corn on the Cobb. We shared the white cheese dipp to start. Went in on 12/10/23 after our photo family pics. Off the bat the food looked good, we all got different meals. My daughter got the chicken strips, my boyfriend got the bbq platter and I got the fiesta plate. We got two beers each of the angry moon, which comes to find out they charged for 4 blue moons and 2 angry orchards which would have been nice to know ahead of time (train your waitresses to know ) not only that but the server barely checked on us I can see why they have so low ratings. Day after my bf got food poisoning. A day later I eat my left overs and guess what I got food poisoning, threw up atleast 15 times and diarrhea last night. 122 for beer and 3 plates and on top of that I got sick. Went here Saturday evening 2/17 with my partner after a long 48 hours of house projects. Service was ok and food was good. The qualm was we were over-charged for what we ordered and did not realize until we got home and discussed it. My partner ordered a $6 cocktail and chicken tenders (roughly 20 dollars pre tax). I ordered the 3 for me w/ a margarita upgrade. (roughly 15 dollar pre tax) I ordered an additional $6 cocktail. We used a $25 gift card and our total came out to nearly $60?! I thought that we didnt use to the gift card, hence the price being higher than anticipated, but we did in fact use the gift card. We were also charged for chips and salsa? As someone who frequents chili's often, I have never paid for chips and salsa because it comes with the rewards. My wife and I had to be in the area on a Sunday afternoon. Heading home we decided to eat out there rather then in LA. We actually passed the restaurant on the freeway and decided it sounded good, so we doubled back . Got seated right away which was nice, seeing we had about an hour drive home. We were very promptly and warmly greeted by Joslyn. She was an amazing server: very friendly, informative and professional! Chili's is very fortunate to have her as an employee. She has potential of advancing through the company. I feel qualified to speak on the subject, as I was an analyst on Wall St for several years focusing on restaurants. I have previously been a restaurant manager and currently have my own meal prepping business, so what I'm about to say isn't just coming from a rude customer. Tonight's experience was less than okay. The only reason I'm even giving out a single star is because the staff was so graceful in handling every issue. First things first, we ordered 4 entrees and 2 appetizers. Everything came out wrong. My friend ordered pasta, it came out cold, as if it were just pulled out of the fridge. My friends husband, ordered a 6oz steak cooked medium, was cooked well done, almost burned. My husband ordered a 10oz steak cooked medium, it came out as a 6oz cooked well done. As for my meal, I ordered chicken fajitas and the chicken...absolutely tasted rubbery.
