We eat at the Claremont location every weekend, there service and food are amazing. Love the French toast!

Reason for 4 stars is good staff. Food is usual. . Lipstick on my coffee cup.. not mine. Always seem to mess up my order ( the kitchen )

Exactly what you expect from a chain diner place. You don't get any extra, you don't get any less. NORMS is perfect for the kind-of-sort-of cheap family night out where you don't want to commit to something fancy and want to allow the kids (and adults) to order chicken tenders and fries for the eighth night out in a row. Like I previously mentioned, you aren't getting any special food or palette changing experiences here. But you are getting a homey, cozy, and hospitable feel with the warm lighting, booth seating, and friendly servers. This was a childhood staple, but nothing special. 6/10. read more

The food was exactly what we love -- pancakes, eggs, and bacon done right -- but what really made our visit exceptional was the service from Paul. He wasn't our server, yet he still stepped in to help with a few requests we had. He's consistently friendly, helpful, and always has a genuine smile. Really great selection for breakfast. So many choices its difficult to choose. I went with the Big Breakfast and it was just like at home when i was a kid! Fluffy pancakes, tasty sausage and bacon with fresh fruit. Service was amazingly fast and my friendly server brought me warm milk with my coffee to make a Cafe con Leche! You can't really go wrong with this fine establishment. I know it's a chain (been to other locations), but what makes the Claremont branch great is that it's open 24 hours and the staff in this particular part of the world are really lovely! The breakfast was tasty but not at the level of previous years. Coffee is terrible!! Like colored water! Waitress was nice but kept offering the coffee and made no effort to improve it. Overall service was subpar and I will not waste the time, effort, or fuel to return in the future. So sad ! My namesake restaurant has gone south. Was one of my favorite restaurants and the coffee was excellent! Not recommended. Now I'm off to anywhere to get a morning coffee read more

I just wanna know how this place is still standing? I ordered the ny steak and eggs and strawberry cheesecake pancakes The saddest thinnest steak I've ever seen. And it was mushy. I'm pretty sure there was only one scrambled egg on my plate And the pancakes? Oh lord they were so mushy and the strawberries looked like they came from an expired can. Never again read more

Came in Saturday after my bike race and was soooo hungry ! Paul was our server and he was amazing .! We were greeted by Juliet and she advised us of the approximate wait time . We were then seated and everything just kept coming so fast . We got our delicious brewed coffee and the Paul took our order . All the side conversations were perfect and respectful. I had some questions about the deals on the Norms app and he was so quick to help and assist. We ordered the steak and eggs and everything was amazing . From the deliciously crunchy hash browns to the buttermilk fluffy warm pancakes everything was a hit . The kiddos ordered milk and juice and everything came to the table so quickly. I went to the restroom and it was very well kept and clean. No spills on the floor or overcrowded trash cans, everything was very clean for the big morning rush they had. Parking was ample and easy to get in and out of. It's so conveniently located right off the freeway . Will keep coming back for sure read more

Had breakfast here this morning. Our server was very helpful and kind and pleasant to us. However, when we went to go pay for our bill, the cashier was extremely rude. Did not welcome us even after we said good morning to her and proceeded to just want to ring us up and get us out. I was especially annoyed when I signed up for a 20% off reward and it was not honored stating that it was only for catering. While looking at the fine print I did notice this and said that I understood, but also mentioned that it felt misleading. I then asked if she could break a 100 dollar bill and she replied no to which then my husband paid for our bill, and meanwhile, she just stared at us. We were pleasant, smiled, said good morning and honestly she was nothing of any of those things. Was not impressed, will not be coming back. Do better, customer service sucks. read more

Came in after a hockey game and sat at the diner. Had an amazing experience with Emilze!! She was on it before I even got sat with asking if I wanted to order to go. Since she asked I figured her pleasantness was welcoming enough to sit at the diner. She took care of with immediately taking my order, brought my food out as soon as it came out. Refilled my drink without me asking. It was late so it was busy for a Friday night but she did job well done. read more

Norms is conveniently located off the 10 fwy. There were plenty of parking. The building is modern and large. It gives a diner vibe. We came for breakfast on a Sunday morning. There was a short 15 minutes wait. There were a few of us waiting for seats. They were full. Our waitress was hustling. She managed to run around and wait on all her tables. I sense they are short staffed. Our waitress was great, but I can tell she's overworked. Plus we had some communication issues. She was not understanding what we were saying . My family loves Norms, I don't get it. The food is basic and the prices are moderate. I ordered the Cali-cado Benedict. The eggs were cooked just right, not overdone. The Benedict sauce was OK. The hash browns were burnt. 3/5. My parents shared the So cal breakfast which was alot! The pancakes were fluffy. It was a standard breakfast. 4/5 read more

A last minute choice of waffles for dinner. This is normal, right? We thought to try this Norms since we were in this neighborhood not too long ago. Restaurant vibe is modern retro and great design details. Welcomed as soon as we walked through the door. It wasn't terribly busy. Ordered a Belgian waffle and added the blueberry compote with whipped cream. Love the light crunch of the waffle, but I think the compote makes the waffle soggy. I immediately scraped off the berries compote to the side and ate it separately. Whipped cream was not enough to cover the waffle. But it tastes good just not enough whipped cream. The restaurant was super clean, server was really nice, large parking lot out back available. Will definitely be back! Norms also give senior citizens a discount - a great little perk! read more

Dined in and ordered the following: - 1 seafood sampler with mashed potatoes = $16.99 - 2 fish and chips ($14.79) = $29.58 - 1 white fish with mashed potatoes = $15.79 SUBTOTAL = $62.36 TAX = $5.92 TIP = $20 OVERALL TOTAL = $88.28 Wait time was quite long but I fully understand that since it was the holiday season, less staff members are working at this time. Seating and ordering were non issues. Our waitress Wendy even double checked the order. However one order came out wrong. The waitress took the plate back to the kitchen and a few min later brought the exact same plate back saying they were cooking the other part of the plate. Understandable. 15 min later everything was cold including the new order which I could tell was rushed as it was partially undone and cold probably bc it had been sitting for a while. At this point my party was just about finished so we asked for boxes. She double checked how many, and proceeded to bring back the wrong amount. I had a great experience at Norms! The waitress was super friendly and gave an awesome recommendation for the cold brew syrup. There was a small mix-up with my meal at first, but she quickly remembered the onion rings, and I ended up with basically double the side - which was a nice surprise! Came in today may 2, sat at the counter, ordered the 6 oz steak and eggs. Half my steak was raw. They cooked the then side perfectly but the thicker side was raw. of course the servers are so busy they never check on you, so ate the rest of my meal, leaving the raw steak on the plate. I'm sure no one will notice they served a customer raw food. The eggs were good. Hash browns cooked ok a little burnt on the top. read more

I have been to a lot of Norms. Santa ana. Costa Mesa. Bell gardens. But this Norms on Indian Hill is the worst when it comes to service. I don't know if everyone is tired of working here. Or they just move slow as molasses. We got here on a sat night at 945 pm. Were told 10 to 15 min wait. Ok no problem. It's it's 1012 pm. 25 min later. Finally get called. We are seated. Waitress comes by. Says she will be right with us. 10 min later she finally comes to take our drink order. We actually order our food also since we can tell service is SUPER SLOW. We get soup and salad 10 min later. Mind you we have been here an hour already and just getting soups. When steak finally comes out. Lukewarm and chewy. Not good steak at all. I will definitely NOT be coming back to this Norms. And maybe not back to any Norms. This is bad. 2 hour meal at Norms. No thank you. read more

Of course the food is very good every time I eat here which is 3 to 4 times a month. What really sets this Norms restaurant apart from other restaurants is the customer service experience that I get on every single visit. Amanda was my server today and as usual, she was at the top of her game. I never have to "look around " to find her because she is always close by. She is this way with all her customers. The great thing is that this type of service is not exclusive to Amanda alone. Every single server I've had provides the same outstanding customer service. This is why I keep coming back. Food is excellent. The best Norms in California so far. The food is fresh and the chef's are the best cooks ever. And the prices are very reasonable. They give large portions. The service is good but there has been a few times they'll cater to a white person before serving me or my family. This is only one lady that does this. Every one less is very nice. The restaurant is very clean. Except for the menu's. Every one I open up are dirty to the touch and sticky. The hostess should take the time and clean each one. read more
