    Empty seats

I went to this restaurant, which had many empty booths and tables and asked for a booth. They said ok and tried to set me at a table directly in front of the kitchen door. I pointed out the multiple open booths in at least 3 different servers areas, and was told policy was to put us there. I asked for the manager, her response was all of their sections were double seated and I would have to wait at least 10 minutes for a server in a booth. If all were double seated, what difference was what type of seat I was in?? There are many food options close to this place, if you want good food and service, please go elsewhere. The Texas Roadhouse next door was perfect, staff and food. They care. It's a shame Chili's don't. It appears by other reviews, Chili's really don't provide good food or service. Read others. This is a long standing issue that they don't want to improve on.

Empty tables but told we had a 25 minute wait, only 1 other party ahead of us.

The place was clean, decor was simple. we arrive around 6:15p on 2/10/24 with a party of 4, my wife, my 2 kids and myself. We were told around a 25 minute wait. Why? I counted at LEAST 9 clean tables/booths for us! Finally we're seated, drink orders taken. Drinks arrive and straws were not given. We had to ask for them. Once our food order was taken it took 51 minutes to get it! Food was decent, that's why I'm giving it 2 stars. The waitress however, was very over burdened. Very inattentive. My wife expressed that we wouldn't be returning. At least we tried it, right?

Service was slow to get started but once we ordered things went quick. The chips and salsa can't be beat. Frozen margaritas always delicious. Get The Oldtimer with cheese with everything. Perfection. Saturday night. Very busy but they persevered and we had a good time.

It is a newer location. They were out of chicken fingers and the burger I got was subpar at best.

You order at the counter and find a seat. They didn't give us any numbers but still found us without any issue. The salsa bar was definitely a highlight and what drew me to this restaurant. They definitely adjusted the heat in the salsas to appeal to the most people, giving warnings of very hot and extremely hot. As a spice lover the hottest one was around a medium by my standard, but the flavors were excellent. We asked for some chips to sample the salsas before our meal arrived. They tasted homemade and very good. I ordered the chicken and pastor tacos with everything (cilantro, onions, lime) and also tried the pork tamale with green sauce. My bf had a chicken burrito. Everything was excellent, but the tamale was just a tad dry, but did taste homemade which was a plus. The tacos were well seasoned and the burrito was huge so we had leftovers. The food came out fast and before we left we also ordered a mango smoothie and mango with tajin/tamarind which was the perfect sweet treat. La Campirana is an absolute gem and one you should visit immediately!

Everything was full of flavor and nicely presented. And the boom-boom sauce is SO delicious. Our server, Andra (I hope I remembered that correctly!), was hands-down one of the best servers we've ever had. She was kind, attentive, and had great suggestions, and she was always nearby if we needed anything. There was also a small moment that really stood out when we were being seated, the host initially placed us in one section but realized it was short-staffed and moved us to another. He apologized so much, even though it truly wasn't a big deal at all. Then, another server from that first section actually came to find us just to apologize for the mix-up as well. It was so thoughtful and completely above and beyond. Thank you to Andra and the entire crew for making our experience so special! You all are wonderful, and we can't wait to come back

Our bartender was very friendly & only check my ID. I'm 30 but she said I looked 17 so that made me feel good. I ordered a bourbon and diet & she asked if Kentucky Tavern was okay and I said it was. I don't mind KT at all. The others in my group ordered some appetizers, 4 to be exact. Some quesadillas, onion rigs, pretzels and something else I cannot remember. I tried the onion rings and they were pretty good. They come with a VERY sweet BBQ sauce of sorts. AppleBees is an okay place to have a few drinks & some good food. They've got a random clientele, from country bumpkins to teenage kids. My KT & diet was $4.79 a glass, which isn't bad. I've had cheaper at other bars before, but I cannot complain.

Pros: Ample free parking. Lovely atmosphere kind of glam meets Hacienda. Interesting menu a cross between Tex-Mex and a grill. Tasty margaritas. Complimentary chips and salsa. Fun spots throughout for selfies. Decorated well for Valentine's Day. Large ample seating areas both front and back. Large welcoming bar. Live music, at least for the holiday. And an extra special Valentine's menu. Fun outdoor seating, as well, which I'm sure will be very enjoyable in good weather. Cons: The food was terribly bland. Everything was verrrrryyyyyy under seasoned. Even the salsa has nearly zero flavor. Even the chips needed to be salted, and we asked for salt to be brought to the table, and they never brought it. Also asked for a salted rim on my margarita, which did not happen. My husband had probably the worst tamale of his life. It had virtually no filling, and the masa was inedible. There you have it. It's a shame because the atmosphere is lovely but the food is not. I might go back for a drink or two. I will not, however, be going back for dinner.

Back in the day, pre-marriage, I was a regular here, after they first opened. The owners are transplants from Mexico, and barely even spoke fluent English when they opened. Their food, which is authentic- not the typical Tex Mex crap, was the first of this type in Evansville. I was hooked. I generally get the chicken quesadillas, or anything with chicken in it. They use the freshest ingredients, and their cheese is unlike most Mexican restaurants. Honestly, I think they have live chickens in the back, as it really does taste that fresh, and not frozen. Who knows? Margaritas. Yep, they have them, and the owner proudly gloats how they put 30% more tequila in them, as opposed to most other restaurants. Great service, great food, and great margaritas.
