Really good food! Usually a long wait for food though. The staff is super nice! Food always comes out hot and fresh and tastes well!

My friend graciously hooked me up with a ride back to Roanoke from Rocky Mount, so I can make my flight out of Roanoke the next morning. In receiving that generosity, I offered to treat him to lunch at this particular Chili's restaurant near my hotel at the Tanglewood Mall Roanoke. I wasn't feeling at the time and I knew Chili's was kind of pricey, but had delicious fare. My friend was hungry and I wasn't really at the time. We arrived here around 11:30am on a brisk Sunday morning driving up from Rocky Mount. The ambiance was as pleasant as I remember it to be. It was quiet and nice and away from the kitchen, where it is usually noisier than normal. We had booth seating with a window view and that was cool. The service was good, pleasant, and friendly. My friend and I spent about an hour here from start to finish. I basically ordered chocolate molten cake, since I loved these and is relatively inexpensively priced. It really hit the spot after finishing another 50km ultra marathon in Rocky Mount the day before and it was my reward for it. My friend decided to sample a sampler platter, where it looked pretty good and delicious. I also had a strawberry margarita with my chocolate molten cake just because it just made sense. It was a celebration of sorts and it just happened in this Chili's location in Roanoke, Virginia. I enjoyed these conversation and the overall time spent here. Too bad vacations have to end. It was a quick meal before my friend had to return the rental car and head to the airport himself. For the most part though, the meal was good, especially with the alcohol involved. I even got carded and being over 40+ years old. I guess I still look young or something. If you are in the Roanoke area and love to party, consider coming to Chilis, where the alcohol is good and their food is better. The chocolate molten cake is always a winner every single time. Check it out for yourself. The overall experience here at this Chilis restaurant at the Tanglewood Mall area of Roanoke, Virginia was typical in what you'd expect here. It was quiet on a Sunday since the NFL season was over after Ty Super Bowl. It can get loud but i was glad it was not. It is nice to have those restroom facilities to use on site as well. The restaurant itself was clean and had good air conditioning, even though it was mildly cool outside at the time (low 50's F). The strawberry margarita paired nicely with the chocolate molten cake that I ordered. It was smooth and definitely helped with the entire meal and conversation. My friend decided to have a 3 item simpler platter, which worked good for him. Everything was tasty and the service was good. At the end of the meal, we paid the lunch tab on the device on our table instead of having the server take the payment to a central pay terminal and do the transaction there. After hanging out and just enjoying Sunday morning in Roanoke while having lunch, we left and went our separate ways. For the most part though, it was a good meal with my friend. We both did the event in Rocky Mount the day before and coming to Chilis was a celebration of what the human body is capable of when we believe in ourselves. Hope to be back one day soon for another round of celebrations. But for now, it was definitely a nice time here at Chilis. If you find yourself in Roanoke, Virginia and want lunch or dinner, or possibly just drinks, consider coming down to Chilis here at the Tanglewood Mall. It's physically at 4212 Electric Road, Roanoke. They accept major credit cards, as well as cash. I think they do mobile ordering too, but you'd need the app for that. As far as parking goes, you have a generous helping of parking spots since it's attached to the Tanglewood Mall. If you are a fan of public transportation in Roanoke, bus route 55 will take you directly here from the 3rd street bus terminal In downtown Roanoke. And of course, there is Uber and Lyft to get you here as well. Best bet would be to get here early enough to secure your favorite parking spot and walk on over. Or get here early enough to enjoy the food and drinks that you were looking forward to all week long. I definitely recommend the chocolate molten cake. I think it's been a signature dish of Chilis as far as I can remember and they have it at all locations, I think. Definitely worth the price for sure and with some alcohol, it's definitely worth every penny. At least for this experience anyway. This Chili's location gets two thumbs up! We had a party of 28 family members who were in town to attend a funeral, so we were all trying to figure out who could seat a large party without it being a buffet. We called and asked if they could accommodate us, they said YES!!! We arrived 35 minutes after calling, and our section was ready when we walked in. They assigned us two servers, Elvin and another young lady, to quickly get everyone's orders. (A manager came over to lend a hand as well) The food came out hot and fresh, after only a very brief wait, and everyone in our party was pleased with their food. The servers were extremely accommodating and patient with the dozen's of questions we asked about the menu items. Of all the chain restaurants, Chili's is one of the few that when one visits, one feels at home. And it is written that "Home is where the heart is." I've had an opportunity of having eaten at the Chili's in Boston, Massachusetts and of Miami, Florida, and both haven't disappointed me. On the contrary, I've given them my business by taking my college students to eat there (everyone paying for their meal) on the last day of class. So it was a pleasant surprise when I found out that Chili's would be opening in Roanoke, Virginia! Today, I decided to go try it out and see if it lived up to it's great reputation of the past and if the reputation of the ones located in two big cities can compare to the one in the Star City of the South. As we arrived at the restaurant, which is located in the surroundings of Tanglewood Mall, the building looked modern, very clean, and well designed, with large sparkling clean windows all around. It had its main entrance up front and a side entrance for To Go orders on the side of the building, with plenty of parking all around. As soon as we entered the building, the wonderful modern, yet cozy interior design of the restaurant, made you feel relaxed and comfortable. The host welcomed us with a big smile and sat us in a nicely located booth where we looked at the menus. They were nicely designed with pictures of some of the main items in the menu. It didn't take long for our waitress to show up to greet us and take our order with a big, friendly, and genuine smile. I ordered the Bacon Rancher: two juicy beef patties, six slices of cripy bacon, house-made ranch, American cheese, sautéed onions, and pickles. My friend ordered another of the same. As we waited, I downloaded the Chili's Reward app and signed up, after seeing an invitation on an electronic TV screen on the table that was also how the bill would be shown and paid at the end of our meal. A young man, who was also very friendly, brought our food to the table in a very reasonable time. And the burger looked as well as tasted delicious. The buns were soft and fresh, the paties were well cooked and juicy, the bacon were crunchy, and with lots of flavor, and even the slices of pickles were fresh and crunchy! Our waitress came by at the appropriate times filling our water glasses with ice water that, by the way, tasted like nice filtered water. This can't be said of many fine restaurants in town. For dessert, we ordered two small size Molten Chocolate Cakes. These have always been my favorite at Chili's. The young man brought us the desserts with sparkling colors highlighting the freshness of the desserts. It also was fresh and delicious. Just look at the pictures I took and one picture is worth a thousand words. The Chili's in Roanoke not only did not disappoint me, but rather greatly impressed me. One can say that the Star City now has the luxury of having a Star Chili's as one of its restaurants. I highly recommend this restaurant to everyone in the Roanoke community and in nearby cities and towns. And will definitely be coming back for more! read more

I tried to leave a review on Chili's app and it kept asking for a nickname. I can only guess because the service was so bad if I didn't give a 5 star rating I couldn't leave a review. our experience was on Friday May 10, 2025 at 8 pm. Food was good but service was horrible. Waited 10 minutes at the empty hostess stand before a manager walked up and said who's next?? Prior to us being seated a server walked right past us and didn't even acknowledge we were there. Appetizer came out after our entree. Our server seemed to think that was fine. We didn't see her again until we were ready to leave. She never came back to ask how our food was or to make any kind of amends for our appetizer coming out after our entree. This was our 3rd visit and possibly our last. We had noticed a decline in service and atmosphere from our first visit to our 3rd. What a pity because we do like Chili's menu. We're very generous tippers and usually over tip. So it's been open for about a month now, but there it is still quite a crowd. The food was good and properly prepared. There is plenty of staff and they were attentive. When it comes to restaurants, I prefer locally owned over big chains, but this does not mean I do not enjoy a big chain all together. That being said, and with a little humor behind this as my hometown of Roanoke, VA has been "foaming at the mouth" for a Chili's, I figured I should write this review. Many within the greater Roanoke community have been begging for a Chili's for decades. It surprises me that one has not arrived sooner, but there are always politics and delays behind these business planning ordeals. And so, with its highly anticipated arrival, Roanoke's Chili's officially opened on 04/17/2023 to the delight of the community and my personal amusement. I have tried multiple Chili's locations over the years and have always found that I preferred them to competing bar and grill chains such as Applebee's. My recent trip to the new Chili's held my preference of them to other big chains to still be true today. I ordered one of the staples of Chili's, the House BBQ Full Order Baby Back Ribs with Fries and Corn on the Cob, and I was not disappointed. The Ribs were tender and came right off the bones. Additionally, the House BBQ sauce had that sassy and sweet flavor I prefer for my ribs. The Fries were well seasoned, and the Corn on the Cob was sweet and buttery as it should be. The service was good, but slow. It is important to keep in mind that they just opened, so they will be very busy for the next several weeks or more. I do believe the citizens of the Roanoke Valley will be happy to see that Chili's has finally graced them with its presence no matter how long its arrival has taken. read more

Very large portion. The fries were a bit too salty/seasoned and the loaded potatoes were pretty bland. Got the trio sampler as well and all was good. I do recommend not getting fries or fried foods for take out because they do get soggy very quickly. I had less than a 10 minute drive and it was still mushy. Packaged very well and included everything we needed. I waited two minutes after checking in for them to bring the meal out. The lot was spacious. My family stopped at Chili's Tanglewood for Sunday lunch. The restaurant was light and clean. The staffing was sufficient for each table to be visited regularly by a smiling, friendly, knowlegeable server. What a great start. Our server, Michael, looked happy to be at work and glad to be able to help customers. He knew the menu and got our orders correct. The Chili's starter + hamburger + fries, 3 for Me was delicious.
