Had a late dinner here after a night of errands. The table we were seated at in the bar area was slightly wet. Our server Roxy saw it and wiped it down. You know why people come to chili's? The Triple Dipper, DUH! Among other delicious dishes. Chili's is usually a little busy any day of the week. Your server is probably a stressed-out teen, running to 35 other tables all ordering the same thing every night. Even still, haven't had a single issue with any of the servers I've encountered here. They have always been friendly and responsive to customer needs. You just gotta be a little patient. Like I said it's NEVER not busy. So let's be nice to our waiters please. ALSO If you're looking for ambiance then maybe go somewhere else. I mean the place is fine, but Idk who would walk into a Chili's expecting a fine dining experience LOL. If you are, then maybe go somewhere else? Not saying there is anything wrong with that but hey, you get what you pay for here. I used to think the weirdness with the hostesses was me being hungry, but after the following experience, I know it's them Here is the entire interaction with the Hostess as my gf and I entered the empty waiting area at the Santee, Ca Chilis. We got there at just the right time on an unusually slow night so we were thrilled that we'd be eating quickly. We walk into the foyer which is void of people waiting for tables and a hostess typing into something that looks to be a phone: Me: "Hi. We're Smith, party of two and we'd like a booth. If necessary, we would wait for a booth in the dining room, rather than sit at a table a table nor do we want to eat in the bar." Hostess: "It's going to be 30-40 minutes. Would you like to seat yourself in the bar?" I look out into a Dining Room where, interspersed with occupied booths, there are approximately 10 empty booths, some clean, some need cleared along with a few tables. Me: "But there are at least 6 booths open right now, 3 of them are clean. Like that one there." I'm pointing at a clean, open booth, surrounded by active booths, just as the busboy moved the interactive screen to the edge of the table he just cleaned and walked away from it. "Can't we sit there?" Hostess looking at her screen, not the booths: "You're welcome to seat yourself in the bar but there aren't any tables available." Me: "That booth right there was just cleaned so can we sit there?" Hostess: "It's not ready. Phone number?" Me SMH: "619-867-5309". Hostess: "We'll text you when it's ready." I take two steps and as I was sitting down in the empty waiting area, I get 3 texts from Chili's telling me I have a reservation, how to check status and that my table is ready. (See picture) Hostess announces to the empty, except for me and my gf, waiting area: "Smith. Smith. Your table is ready." I stand up, my gf and I take the step toward the podium. Hostess: "Name?" SMH I answer: "Smith" Hostess: "First name?" Me: "Michael " She leads us to one of those small tables right next to another table of 4, not a booth. Me: "Would you please seat us at a booth?" Hostess: "There aren't any available" Me: "We'll wait" and we walk toward the still empty waiting area where there is now another person at the podium that seemed to be a manager or supervisor. The original hostess left the podium so I approached this other woman and I say: "Can we please be seated at one of the booths like that one?" Pointing again at the booth I pointed at before. She turned, looked at it, glanced at the screen and New Chili's Person: "Sure." She walked us to the booth, we say down and were waited on by an excellent waitress, serving us excellent food, while we played trivia on the device, which was why we wanted a booth. We like to take our time, enjoy the food and trivia together, and we tip really well for taking up the waitress' table for a long time. read more

The last couple of times I've been here I've been underwhelmed. Meh tasting food, overpriced chips and salsa (priced that way so that you don't buy them and spend money on other things). The least tasty bacon quesadillas I've ever had. I hate the payment at the table thing because if you end up with any issues (like the mistake in my I'll) it takes forever for the server to get back to you to fix it. We had such a great experience during our dinner! Our waiter Brian was truly outstanding. We came in as a group with toddlers, parents, and grandparents--and across the board Brian had us all laughing and enjoying ourselves. From the moment we sat down, he was attentive, upbeat, and incredibly efficient. Even though his section was clearly busy, he never made us feel like we were waiting or overlooked. He checked in regularly, got all of our orders exactly right, and went above and beyond with his friendly attitude and service. If I could -9 stars I would! In all honesty I've never felt so unwelcomed and also so uncomfortable by a waiting staff in my life! Got dirty looks just walking to our table in the bar area which took over 10 mins to get cleaned off. It took a whole other 15 mins just to get WATER and I even confronted the manger and asked if we could be helped to only get dirty looks and an instant attitude upon asking my question. Just want to note we showed up at 8:40 and couldn't even walk out until 9:35 from getting water, soup and a drink that took over 10 mins to deliver to the table too(mind you we were sitting pretty much at the bar). All and all of you want horrible service and to feel like an inconvenience this is the place for you! But for real save your time and just got to the la mesa one! read more

He brought such positive energy and made sure we were taken care of the entire time, checking on us often without ever being intrusive. The icing on the cake was when my sister accidentally left her wallet behind--Brian ran outside in the freezing cold to find us and make sure we didn't leave without it. We had a party of 15 and called ahead to check wait times and availability, being told there was no wait and that reservations weren't possible. However, upon arrival, we were told we would wait 30 to 45 minutes, which turned out to be false. Most groups arriving after us were served before us, supposedly because they were smaller groups. It felt like they were playing games with us and, overall, the experience seemed racially biased. They kept assisting smaller groups of 6 or 7 but ignored us. I had not been to Chili's in a long time. Went with some friends for lunch recently. I really was not impressed, as we had not been back because of the food several years ago. The 3 for me deal is a very good deal/price. I chose the Enchilada soup as a choice, and I was so disappointed. It was a small bowl of a very gold/orange thick soup and barely warm. A few tiny chunks of chicken and some crunchy tortilla strips which were good, it the flavor of the soup was not appealing at all. The chicken and bacon quesadilla was just okay, sparse on the filling but edible. Overall, I had a nice time with my gal friends, but I more than likely won't go back. It's obvious as most chain restaurants the food ingredients are processed and not a lot of flavor. Our server was very good and efficient. read more

Me and my girlfriend dined in together around 3pm on a Saturday. It was pretty slow, so not sure why our food took 35 min+ for the food to come out. The only thing that came out fast and hot was the soup and drinks. We're not sure if it's the servers fault or the kitchens, but why did it come out cold if it took that long? I just had the most amazing fast-casual dining experience of my life. No exaggeration. The food was immaculate and the wait was not too long. What really is the spotlight of the show was the service. Our waiter, Brian, was one of the best waiters I've ever met. He was very polite and very attentive. He was very humorous and his service was outstanding. He is really appreciative of his customers and expresses so. He had an amazing attitude and took, not just good care of our meal but us as well. Becky and I have never been big fans of Chili's.  We try to avoid national chain restaurants as a whole, but a buddy was in town and he likes Chili's so we went to Chili's in Santee for lunch. It was just as good as we remembered - not very. We grabbed a four-top in the bar area that just happened to be next to the server's station.  A cheerful young woman, Jess, turned around and introduced herself as our server for the day.  Jess was smiling and pleasant, she was a very good server. So, Chili's is Chili's.  The food isn't horrible, it is just sort of blasé.  Bland and underwhelming. We started with chips and salsa.  Their chips are actually quite good.  Crispy and warm tortilla chips.  The salsa is completely useless.  Our friend's adult daughter who was with us, described the salsa as "tomato water".  Accurate description.  I've had ketchup that had more bite. For lunch I ordered the Spicy Shrimp Tacos.   "Three spicy chile-lime shrimp tacos in flour tortillas with pico, avocado, cilantro, coleslaw queso fresco. Served with Mexican rice & black beans", states the menu.  Spicy is an overreach.  They were not at all spicy.  The shrimp themselves were cooked nicely, not overdone and they did carry a hint of chili-lime flavor.  The pico and the rest of the toppings were unremarkable.  The beans were bland and to call the rice "Mexican" is an insult to Mexican rice everywhere.  Flour tortillas were a disappointment, I would've preferred corn.  I'm pretty sure that the tortillas were warmed in a microwave as the texture was off and they got cold quickly.  I ended up just scooping the shrimp out of the last two tacos and eating them with a fork. Becky had the Chicken Caesar Salad.  She said that it was decent.  The chicken was on the dry side, but the greens were fresh.  The salad, however, was way overdressed.  It was drowning in dressing.  Our friend and his daughter both ordered the Bacon Avocado Grilled Chicken Sandwich.  Hers without mayo, his with. He liked his sandwich a lot, but he is a fan of Chili's.  He is also a huge fan of ketchup and he has an aversion to spicy food.  Which I believe is Chili's target audience.  She said that hers was "fine", but I did notice that she did not finish it. I will say this for Chili's, they have a solid beer selection and they serve it ice cold.  Also, service from Jess was outstanding. Our total for the table was $88.80 before tip.  Four meals, four beers, two Truly seltzers and a water.  We split it into two checks.  Becky and I agreed that our portion, $55 (with tip) was a bit steep for what we received.  We're in no hurry to return to Chili's. read more
