My large family and I have been going to Chilitos for at least nine years. We have celebrated many birthdays there, and have had them cater an event at my house twice. Needless to say, we have always loved Chilitos. Then why only two stars? Only one reason. They are no longer offering their pico de gallo at their complementary salsa bar. Their pico is delicious, adding extra zing to whatever dish is ordered. Now you can only get the delicious pico if you order with your meal, and it's a very small amount (the tiny plastic cupful) for a dollar. When asked why the change, the very nice young lady said it was because of the increase in tomato prices. Tonight I purchased some very nice Rosa tomato's at Stater Bros for $0.99 a pound, so I am certain restaurants are buying them at an even lower price than the general public. There is something else going on here, and I feel I've been lied to. Bottom line: I will check from time to time to see if the pico is back at the salsa bar. If it is, I'm back as a loyal customer (we go there an average of twice a week). If not, Chilitos loses several regular customers. It's a shame, but there are other Mexican restaurants around that I love and will enjoy my business. If you're a customer, tell Chilitos to return the pico to the salsa bar. read more

A clean and casual Mexican taqueria with pleasant staff. Order at the counter, find a seat, and they bring your food to you. Self-serve fountain drinks and a good salsa bar with free chips. They ran out of chips and it took about 15 minutes to get a new batch out. It's pretty busy during the weekday lunch hour. Big portions and reasonably priced. Typical Mexican-American menu. I ended up getting the "taco salad" with chicken because I was craving the hard shell taco bowl. I initially wanted the "chicken avocado salad" but that doesn't come in the taco bowl. Well, the taco bowl was terrible, so I should've just ordered what I really wanted! The bowl was a dark color and tasted like stale oil. The salad itself was good, but the grilled chicken was on the dryer side. The yummy guacamole tasted freshly made and came in a generous amount. I had a taste of my husband's (shredded) chicken taquito and it was delicious. I did not taste the beans and rice but he said they were good. I'm sure there are other hole-in-the-walls that are authentic and better tasting, but Chilitos is a good choice for decent food at a decent price in a nice, clean, and chill environment. read more

I've been a regular to this restaurant because of their Street Taco Specials that they have Mon-Wed. This business is located inside the plaza near Farmer Boys, so there is decent parking, but if you come during busy hours, then you may park a little bit away closer to the Farmer Boys side. Inside the place, it can fit small and large groups of people and they provide a fresh salsa bar. The price of $1.99 for street tacos is pretty great! They give you lots of meat and the food is delicious. Usually this is my go to if I am craving tacos to go here. Service is pretty good and helpful when you are ordering. This place is pretty good one of the only places that always has mole on the menu so it's kind of a go to for me when I'm craving it. Service is fast, place us big roomy and clean they also have a grill side and TV's for sports I think. Chipotle is my family's go to dine in or take out local Mexican restaurant. The staff are friendly and efficient and the food and salsa bar is fresh and delicious. Whenever I get takeout they always give me a small drink for free while I wait and the combination meals come with free chips. So I went to this conference and for lunch one day I found this place on yelp and showed up; it did not disappoint. Staff were knowledgeable about gluten free elements of their menu, and prices were great. BUT HOLD ON THERES MORE! A salsa bar. Man you had me at salsa... Everything from the service speed to the flavors were on point, and the agua de jamaica? Absolutely nailed it. Not syrupy like some places. So I thought I was done and then the conference I was attending ended up catering an evening event with Chilitos so I ran into the staff and food again, and that round I found out they had 3 gluten free and vegetarian proteins for the tacos, which was super cool. And of course the catering crew sprung some secret sauce goodness and other goodies and made the whole catered evening experience a delight. I have a Mexican place across the street from me, but I drive to Chilitos because their food is better. Everything I have had there has been so good. My favorite is the hard shell taco with shredded beef. I love tacos and this is the best. Their taco salad with carne asada is also delicious, as is their enchilada plate. Oh yeah, the California burrito and the chile verde burrito is also very good. On the plus side, the service is always good and the employees are friendly. Parking is easy too. This is a great family run restaurant with excellent service and food! I had the Chile Verde Burrito (shared with one other due to size!) and had a split red and green sauce. Normally it is just green sauce but I wanted to try their red as well. The pork inside is so tender it just falls apart! It was delicious and both sauces were rich in flavor. There is a salsa bar where you can get your own mild to spicy salsa. The tacos are big as well so it's great to get an item or two and share with others. read more

I usually have been there for lunches but occasionally I would drop by with friends and family for dinners as well. I don't know if you had a chance of reading my previous review which I did few months ago. However, this is the second time that I have faced a very harsh situation with your service. I had my senior parents tonight with me and I know you guys do offer senior discount which I asked the person in charge of taking orders and that person along with the same girl which I had mentioned in my previous review, the girl with the Red Angels Hat (Yes I am calling her out) laughed at me as if I was a fool in asking that discount. I usually never ask but today cause I had my senior parents who wanted to pay for the food I asked your order taking personal and this is what I faced today. I am definitely not coming back again at your restaurant after this experience especially with my parents with me. Nonetheless we tipped as Good Samaritan and also we made sure we did our do-diligence of putting the plates where it belonged after our food unlike your other customers who were leaving their plates on their table to be picked up. First time visit here 1/28/23 and a huge thanks to my fellow Yelpers for the recommendations. We were at Kaiser Riverside and the parents were starving after their appt. I did a Yelp search for Mexican restaurants and Chilitos drew my eye with its positive reviews. It's less than 5 mins from Kaiser and in a Farmer Bros center and you will find lots of parking. You order your food and take a seat in this spacious restaurant. The ladies behind the register taking our order were friendly and helpful with recommendations. We ordered their chicken tortilla soup- a generous serving of shredded chicken breast, tortilla strips, avocado, and cilantro all in a hot delicious broth- yummy! We also ordered their crispy shredded beef taco and chicken enchilada combo which is accompanied with beans and rice. The taco was hands down one of the best I have had. You get a generous serving of the flavorful meat surrounded by a crisp corn tortilla shell. This was heaven and I was kind of wishing I had another. The enchilada, beans and rice were OK and not as memorable. I also loved their salsa bar with a plethora of mild, med and hot salsas- way too many to choose from. Only reason for the 4/5 stars was the "ok" beans and rice- both of which could use more flavor. Also overall cleanliness of tables and floors could be improved. read more
