We recently had lunch at Morena's Mexican Cuisine, and while it was a mixed experience, I think it has potential! The meal started off strong with their chips and salsa--super fresh and flavorful. For my entrée, I had the chicken fajitas. While they were cooked properly, I wish they had a bit more seasoning to really bring out the flavor. My wife had the enchiladas divorciadas, which were beautifully presented, but unfortunately, the filling was a bit cool. She probably should have sent it back, but since we were in a hurry, we didn't bother. On the positive side, my daughter had the carne asada burrito, and she said it was excellent. Service started off great with our younger male waiter being very attentive at first, but it slowed down significantly as our meal went on. By the end of our visit, I actually had to go up to the register to ask to pay. It was lunch time, and it wasn't that busy, so this felt a bit out of the ordinary. Despite the hiccups, I'm willing to give Morena's Mexican Cuisine another try, as it may have just been an off day. Authentic Mexican food that makes me hungry just thinking of this spot. I took my husband here for a late lunch since he hadn't eaten here yet. The special was enchiladas in mole. They came with chicken & jack cheese topped with queso fresco. I'm picky about the dark mole because some places always go heavy on 1 of the ingredients. Not this spot! The flavor was balanced with the chocolate, cinnamon, Chile perfectly - made me think of home. Plenty of chopped chicken inside as well. Also we ordered the 2 taco plate with 1 chicken & 1 carnita, both in a full size corn tortilla, rice & beans. The tacos are packed with meat..actually ate one & took one home. So far, I've also tried their chicken burrito with green sauce on the side, again packed & delicious. Morena's has my vote for fresh tasting, flavorful cuisine. Considering the portions, I feel the cost was reasonable. I knew I was gonna love the food after I tasted the salsa. My friend and I had lunch here today and split the flautas plate with 2 chicken and 2 beef burria with rice and beans. Lunch started with very prompt and efficient service with chips and salsa (they were both very good). The seasoning on both the beef and chicken was excellent and we really enjoyed them. We've been there when it's busy and when it's a bit slow but the food quality remains the same. The carnitas always hits the spot. They are so juicy and tender with great flavor. Hubby and I had a family restaurant in Alhambra that we went to every wedding anniversary but it closed down :( . We were looking for a delicious alternative closer to home. They're so attentive at this location. We were supposed to only go to this special place for our anniversary but it's so good that my husband likes to go often. The food is fire. The carnitas at Morena's is the best I've had in the inland empire. It really has ruined most carnitas for me. The happy hour is also excellent value. The carnitas tostadas are a must get. Service was friendly and efficient, and the restaurant was spotlessly clean. My dad loved authentic Mexican food and said you could always judge the quality of a restaurant by their mole sauce. I ordered chicken mole because the photos posted online showed a deep, rich looking sauce. The grilled chicken in my entree was excellent, tender with a nice charred flavor from the grill. Unfortunately, the mole sauce was not the same as what is shown in photos. Instead of a complex flavor of chilies and cocoa it looked and tasted like arrabbiata sauce-tomato sauce with chilies, no cocoa flavor at all. Apparently they've changed their recipe, perhaps in response to the spike in cocoa prices. Disappointing, but the flavor and quality of the food in general will probably bring us back to try something else from the menu. read more

I just had dinner at Morena's Mexican Cuisine. The food was so good!! There were 3 of us eating. We all had the tacos! My dad and I had the steak tacos! They were delish!!! The steak was tender slices, so yummy! My sister had the Maui mahi tacos . The fish was grilled mahi mahi and it was excellent . The flavor of the fish was perfect! I must also tell you the salsa was probably the best salsa I have ever eaten! I loved it! For breakfast we tried the chilaquiles red and green. They were both very delicious. Each sauce with its own distinct flavor! You can add meat for an extra charge. I wanted birra with my green chilaquiles however they do not offer it for their chilaquiles so I ordered a plain birra taco and added the meat to my chilaquiles. We visited on a Wednesday evening and were pleasantly surprised by the friendly, open environment. The space is very clean and airy, with a large U-shaped bar area surrounded by tables, creating a welcoming vibe. We started with complementary chips and salsa. The chips were warm and fresh, and while the salsa was clearly homemade, it wasn't spicy enough for us. We asked for something hotter and were offered both a fiery habanero salsa and a salsa verde - the latter became our favorite! For our mains, we had the shrimp ceviche, which was wonderfully refreshing with lots of parsley, finely chopped red onions, and perfectly textured shrimp. We also ordered the empanadas de Tinga, which were equally delicious, both dishes beautifully presented and bursting with flavor. The service was fantastic. Our server, Edgar, was friendly and attentive, even noticing how much we enjoyed the salsa verde and kindly giving us an extra one to-go with the bill. Highly recommend Morena's! We came in at 12:30 pm the place wasn't packed but have a few customers they only have two servers and it took a while for our orders to be taken. A third server came in and started sweeping their flooring so it's a clean restaurant. They did give us free chips and salsa.
