My boyfriend found this restaurant on Yelp when we were in the Riverside area, and it did not disappoint. It's a very vibey lounge with live music and incredible food. We ordered the shrimp cocktail (10/10) and the salmon plate (10/10), along with agua frescas, guac, frijoles, freshly house-made tortillas, and chips. Everything was perfect--from the quality of the food to how well each dish paired together. Our server, Dani, was very kind and made sure we had everything we needed. Not exactly what I was hoping for. Food wasn't filling and the drinks could be stronger. Definitely not a place to go out to eat or go on dates. Seating is weird and you're bound to end up in an uncomfortable seating arrangement. More of a place to hit up after you've already gotten tipsy and wanna listen to live music, but you could also drink from the street and see the show considering they have an open area for the band. This place is one of the few that my wife and I keep coming back to keep the fire going in our love life. The ambience of this place has good mixture of warm and welcoming decor but entertaining at the same time. It's one of those hidden gems that you can't get anywhere else. The food is amazing, everything from the tacos to your Sopes, and Ceviche is what you'd expect and better. We haven't had one plate that we don't enjoy! But what I would have to say is the most valuable attribute of this place are the people that work here. Estrella Cantina is the place to be on a Thursday night. We showed up around 7pm and were met with great service and free chips and salsa. I ordered the chicken fajitas. The large serving was unbelievable, leftovers for days. Everything was so flavorful and it came with a bunch of sides to enhance the experience. My friend got the Ceviche and it was some of the best we've had. About an hour after arriving, they had a live band playing and it made the experience so fun. I had the carne asada burrito, it was quite hefty, I was only able to eat half. We also ordered the guacamole as an appetizer. This restaurant has plenty of seating, we got there almost right at opening and were seated right away. Service was fast and friendly. They had some good music going as well. Street parking can be hard to come by, especially on a weekend but there is a parking structure nearby. read more

Food was okay we didn't eat much we came from lunar new year celebration where there was plenty of food trucks! We came here ordered a drink, amd appetizers hot wings classic bone in and taquitos de papa which is one of my hubby's faves. Service was okay actually not door good. I had to get up and get napkins the hot wings were saucy, messy but good. Ambiance was nightlife, you would gi there for drinks you can view the street and see ppl walking by. Every time I come here, whether during the day or on the busy nights, the service is great. The servers are welcoming and quick. The bartenders are funny and take care of everyone even when it's super busy. My food is always delicious and quick. The expo Alize always brings food out with a smile and is accommodating and sweet. We got fajitas the shrimp was very good and the portion was large. We also ordered the ribeye which was expensive and half fat and didn't come with any sides. We also ordered aguachiles were bomb and a fried fish platter which was ok and a kids bean burrito also just ok. I got a margarita which was in a very short glass with a ton of ice. Let's try to monopolize as many storefronts in downtown Riverside as we can whilst promoting ultimate social media and less than sub-par personal experiences... Let's create a fancy environment while our employees are dressed to the nines whilst paying almost no attention to our patrons whatsoever. Let's ignore our actual patrons and pay our almost entire, small attention to the funny, lackluster bartender while forgetting basics like tortillas and chips or drinks to our patrons. Let's ignore fancy things like paper towels or soap in the bathroom, who needs them? Let's pump the music so loud you have to shout before the band for night decides to set up and warm up before 9pm on a slow, Tuesday night? Let's ignore the drunk female asking another female patron trying to enjoy her meal mid-bite demanding a dance whilst you fill her with another drink? I had the most horrible service experience ever, her name tag spelled Alize. She was the most rudest server I have ever met. She has a huge attitude problem this is very unprofessional!! I think they have bottle service and I think they have Banda as well on certain nights. This is the second time as mentioned that I come here and I always order the same thing which is a molcajete I'm gonna be posting pictures of the menu and my receipt Menu states molcajete comes with chicken, shrimp and steak all for a price of $69 And both times that I've come here I noticed that my bill has an extra fee of $2 They do add a service fee. they add $2 dollars for "carne asada" on the molcajete Both times I questioned them and ask them why they add $2 for Asada the menu does not say it's an extra fee, both times they gave me a refund with no explanation With that being said check your receipts carefully before you pay read more

We made a last minute sitting for a group of 14 to celebrate a birthday. Tables were quickly assembled and we were allowed to be seated even though our entire party hadn't arrived. Festive environment with fairly loud music playing while Thursday Night Football was on the one television behind the bar. Food menu and drink menu had well beyond the typical fare offered by a Mexican spot. Wonderful selection. Our orders were taken around the table and drinks continued to flow. I had an Arnold Palmer to start but soon relented to peer pressure and had a shot of reposado tequila. The favorite food items around the table were the carne asada fries, chicken wings,the queso birria, shrimp enchiladas and potato taquitos. I had the star of the show with the molcajete. The fiesta came to the table with protein and vegetables hanging out of the stone bowl. Shrimp, chicken and steak all perfectly cooked, with green onions and tender flavorful nopales. Beans and rice arrived by separate plate along with the corn and homemade flour tortillas (some of the best on University Ave if not the city). The food stayed hot until I put leftovers in the doggy bag, still warm when I got it home. Everyone enjoyed their meals and most had enough to take home. They have a unique birthday celebration and the birthday girl couldn't have been happier with the special treatment. Well done. We were on our way out as the live music was warming up. Just know that Downtown Riverside's expensive. That being said, Estrella was worth it. I got the asada tacos and my wife got the carnitas and they were exceptional.
