Here in the AV, when it's cold, IT's COLD. I let Joe know that we had our AC replaced this summer and shame on me for not calling Joe to service the AC as well. I went with ECONO West from a referral of a friend. Worst experience with the exception to the main guys' subcontractor, Eddie, who was in the attic in 108° weather. Unfortunately, Joe speculated they probably didn't open the gas valve when they completed the work on my AC. Sure enough, it was exactly that but since my furnace is also in the attic, Justin had to move aside boxes that are stored up there to get to the gas valve to open it. In the process he offered to change my air filter and educated me on how often to change it and an easier way to do so. After the heater was up and running, Justin even returned all the storage boxes to their same spots. Appreciated Justin's professionalism and kindness. It was a very warm day (at least 100 degrees) and I wanted the fastest option because going without air conditioning in the Antelope Valley is not pleasant. I decided to have the aging system replaced entirely, and the team at Pennies got right to work. My HVAC unit was completely replaced by the end of the day. Everyone was professional and courteous. The lead technician on the installation was great at communication. The installation of this unit was much better than when we had the old unit installed ten years ago. The workmen were careful with my carpets, cleaned everything up when they were done, and did a great job installing the unit. Great service! I was then quoted $765 to repair the shower. The technician himself told me the company is expensive but said they provide a warranty. I understand paying for quality work and a warranty, but $765 for this repair felt completely unreasonable to me. What made the experience worse is that another licensed plumbing company reviewed the same problem and quoted me $285, including the shower cartridge, removing the broken/stuck part, and fixing the handle. That is a difference of $480 for essentially the same repair. I also received an estimate totaling $688 for other plumbing work, including a shower/faucet cartridge and a toilet fill valve/supply line. After already paying $125 just for the service visit and having nothing repaired, I felt the overall pricing was excessive and unfair. I understand that companies can set their own prices, but customers should know what they may be getting into. In my experience, I paid $125, nothing was fixed, and I was left with a very high repair quote. I recommend getting a second opinion before agreeing to the work.
