Sándwiches are good - I think the hot ones are better than the cold ones. Staff are nice. They ran out of the French bread and the sourdough was fine but got soggy. Prices are so high though. Busy place. I was with 4 other people and tried each sandwich. We chose to nosh on the #23 Sandwich - The Michael Jordan of cheesesteaks. Rib-eye, caramelized onions, and white Swiss American on a baguette - are you drooling yet? Within minutes our Sammie was ready for noshing, and it was perfection. The crunchy toasted bread mixed with the warm meat and toppings truly hit the spot and was the perfect size with a side of chips. Seriously yum! The cases up front feature house made sweets and we couldn't resist and ordered a dream bar - which was a sweet sugar cookie base topped with a crispy (crispy as in rice puffs from a crunch bar) chocolate brownie and so good! I wanted something quick before heading back to the hotel and I remembered this place was closed last year when we visited. Let's see what Sweetie's Sandwiches are all about! WHAT I DID NOT EXPECT: a massive sandwich menu boasting 60+ sandwiches. Say what? In a mountain town no less! Look I love my mountain towns, but we all know the food options can be hit or miss. I was expecting a simple menu with maybe a dozen options. NOT HERE. A lovely, open storefront and a creative artisan menu with plenty of options! I wanted a hot sammie, which narrowed down the menu by half. Damn though, what to pick, what to pick? After a few minutes staring at the menu I closed my eyes and pointed. Yep, I'm not even being facetious... The #23 Sandwich // "The Michael Jordan of cheesesteaks. Ribeye, caramelized onions, and white Swiss-American on a baguette." ($15) Unfortunately they were out of their baguettes, so I had to substitute sourdough. Though nothing close to traditional, the flavors were on point. Melty gooey cheese, great taste from the thinly sliced ribeye and a nice crisp from the sourdough. From the looks of it I didn't think the bread would hold up, but it did. Touché, Sweetie. This is hands down one of my favorite sandwich shops. Any time we go to Salida we have to stop here for three sandwiches and maybe a few desserts and bread loaves too. We had the pleasure of bringing our friends here after skiing Monarch mountain. I got my usual - the notorious (chicken) sandwich. It's nostalgic of a sandwich I used to get in college and always hits the spot. My husband got his go to - Don Draper - and even me, as a non beef loving sandwich eater, have to say that this beef sandwich is awesome. Our group got two desserts to share - the Nutella brownie bar and lemon rosemary bar. I will say while they were still tasty, both were a little dry and hard/stale - not as fresh and soft as I've had in the past. Ambiance - I've been going here since they had their old location on Main Street but this corner spot is nice too and right below their other sister business - Biker and the Baker. It feels very deli/diner-esque. If I wish one thing were different - I wish they'd bring back the soft serve ice cream they used to have from their OG location!! Miss the soft serve read more

Sweeties is great, our favorite lunch spot in Salida. It's usually the first place we go when we get to town. The sandwiches are hearty and delicious. They can make you pretty much any sandwich you want, but I highly recommend you order something off of the tried and true Sweeties menu -- they know what they're doing! Their soup is different every day, and usually it's great (but they often run out). And I especially love their sourdough bread. (A lot of great vegetarian options as well.) read more

Oh my does this place have all of the yummy dessert options. We got 2 bars and 2 cookies. The bars aren't pictured but they're massive. I wanted to try them all but I'd break the bank on desserts. We got a kitchen sink cookie and another kind. We also got a dessert bar with a brownie in it and one with banana. All of them were great. The one disappears bring item is I don't feel we got the kitchen sink flavor because it didn't have a bunch of filings inside. It was pretty bare bones foe ingredients. Sweetie's seems to be a center of the universe in Salida! In town for a wedding and without meaning to, every time we would grab a sandwich, we bumped into a relative, friend, or the bride and groom. In the end, it was our go-to for the lunch hour. The two best sandwiches that stood out to me were the Little Red Hen (chicken, chipotle mayo, cheddar and coleslaw - hot) and the Windy City (Pastrami, provolone, house made slaw, sun dried tomato mayo and yellow mustard- cold). A few selections of bread but both of these worked well on the baguette. I love finding a sandwich that I can't live without and while the above two were yummy, I think I would keep trying to find just the right one, the two above were slidey and I struggled to keep it all on the bread. I need to eat more sandwiches to perfect my bread hold. Service was friendly, fast, but expect to spend some money, prices are on the high side but that was expected with the location of the shop. We got our orders to-go to eat in the park just down the sidewalk. This is in a great location to grab your sandwich and walk to the river or park. Highly suggested if the weather is nice. The highlight of this experience was waiting outside for our sandwich (all three times!) and someone from the kitchen came out and asked if our dog could accept a gift (it was bacon). The second and third time, the same man greeted us, remembered our dog's name and said, still ok for a gift. Our dog was elated and pretty sure this was the reason we ate here everyday, she lead us here because she knew what would happen. read more
