I hadn't heard of Chili Chicken House before making a recent visit, but based on the name alone, I was completely intrigued and on board. We arrived shortly after they opened and the place was already about half full, which I took to be a very good sign. Obviously we had to order the Chili Chicken, and we decided to go with the "gravy" option. We also got an order of the Hakka Chow Mein and an extra rice. The food arrived a short time later and the portions were absolutely massive. We were positive we'd wind up taking a bunch home but the food was so delicious that we gobbled everything up. And yeah, the food is next-level good. The chili chicken is probably the best variation of this dish I've ever had, as all the components worked so well together and the layers of flavor kept revealing themselves the longer we ate. The noodles were almost as good. I mean, obviously they were good since we ate everything in sight. The pronounced wok hei flavor kept me coming back for more again and again. I've been hearing a lot of good things about this place. I think it lives to the hype, we ordered the Manchurian fried rice, crispy beef, chilli chicken and chicken pakora, hot and sour soup. I think it is slightly better than Fredericks's but not by much. The hot and sour soup was really good we told them to add less salt to everything because Hakka food has a lot of salt. The chicken pakora was really good, crispy and chicken was tender and you have to eat with the chilli sauce. The crispy beef was the least favourite dish because it was so sweet, the chilli chicken gravy tasted really good with the chillies and you have to eat that with the white rice. The fried rice tasted awesome had heat and it was hot and so good, that you can eat by itself I think that was my favourite. we LOVE CCH!!!! My spouse grew up in the area. He has memories of him and his friends always coming here growing up and now that we've recently moved closer to this location in particular, we've found ourselves frequenting this spot. Honestly, if I remembered to check-in every time, I would probably be the duchess of CCH by now. Onto the important part: THE FOOD. Here's what we've ordered and the reviews of each item (honestly, I don't think you can go wrong with anything on the menu): - Chili Chicken Dry & with Gravy: Obviously we have to get this because that's what the name of the restaurant is called. Both the dry and the gravy versions are amazing! It just depends on what you're feeling like, though I will say, we typically do gravy because putting that sauce on the rice is just, chefs kiss. Be careful of the little green things. Those can be SPICY, but it's a little bit hit or miss on if you'll get one with a big kick or just a tiny flick of spice. - Chili Paneer w/ Gravy: Chili chicken was a must have until we came here with some vegetarian friends and we got the chili paneer. This is now my go-to favourite. THere's just something about paneer in a slightly spicy gravy that just hits the spot - Crispy Eggplant: this is a MUST HAVE dish for us and we always order it, especially if we have guests. I've never had eggplant fried this way -- it's truly crispy. If you're a fan of eggplant, you MUST try this dish. - Hakka Chow Mein: honestly, it's a classic. Can't go wrong here - Crispy Beef: super fun! It's not crispy in the same way the eggplant is. To me it was almost like beef jerky texture, but not fully dehydrated pieces of beef (if that makes any sense). As always, the best Indo chinese food ever. This time we just planned the trip in the morning, drove for 1 n half hours, to get just their amazing indo chinese dishes. That speaks a lot about our commitment to their dishes. As always since forever, their chili chicken gravy is the best. The dry version is beautiful to taste as well. My friends and I ordered a bunch of dishes to go: chili chicken, chili beef, paneer, vegetable fried rice, garlic chicken, and vegetarian Pad Thai. It took about 40 minutes to prepare it all, and they gave 2 boxes of white rice on the side as well. The food tasted very good and it wasn't too spicy either (not sure if my friends asked for less spicy or not, but they did provide spicy sauces on the side). There are many Hakka Chinese restaurants in the area but this is definitely number 1 for portions and taste. I cant believe I haven't tried this place before after being in the area for so long. Got the lunch special of dry chili chicken with noodles (highly recommend swapping the rice for noods). It comes with either spring roll or pop (i went with the spring roll). It is cash or debt only FYI. It was delicious. There's a Hakka place downtown that I'd mission out to for some momos and noodles, but looks like I can just come here instead. I was recommended this place by a friend. It's located in a plaza near Erindale GO station. They have a lot of free parking in the plaza. The reviews for this place seemed promising so we decided to get a bunch of gravies and rice/noodles. We also got a large hot and sour soup. The soup was phenomenal! It had a good amount of chicken, tofu and vegetables- something that is hard to find at Hakka places. It was also very flavourful. I have been on a Hakka food kick for a while. Chilli Chicken House (CCH) has been bookmarked for ages. The good news is that both this eatery and my workplace are in Mississauga. The slight downer is that we are on opposite ends of the city. On Friday, four of my colleagues and I decided to make the fifteen-minute trip over for lunch. CCH is in an insanely busy plaza, thanks to a Tim Hortons drive-thru, a No Frills, and a ton of eateries. We found a spot by Timmy's and walked over. We got there just before noon. We managed to nab a table for six. We came in two separate cars. Our server was a bit concerned that half of us weren't there. We eventually all made it and he seemed relieved. At any Hakka eatery, I recommend going with a spicy dish. In the past, I would default to a non-spicy noodle dish and would end up disappointed. Go spicy or you don't get the full experience. My default two dishes are chilli chicken and spicy garlic chicken. CCH has hot garlic chicken. I went with the latter. I love garlic. If I could marry garlic, I would. We'd live in peaceful harmony. The lunch combo comes with your choice of spring rolls or canned pop. I got a Diet Coke. You can also upgrade your steamed rice to either fried rice or noodles for $2 or $2.50, respectively. I went with fried rice, as one of my interns had recommended it. My food came fast. I could smell the garlic as my food was placed in front of me. It was a great sign. I went in. The hot garlic chicken is excellent. The garlic is delicious. The chicken is tender and perfectly done. The sauce is flavourful. The fried rice is fluffy and tasty, with big peas and carrot cubes. I ate everything. I mixed the fried rice in the garlic sauce. My plate looked spectacularly clean that you could fool someone that it went through the dishwasher, but I don't recommend it. The only concern, which my other intern had brought up, is why are some sauces bright red red? We are hoping that it's chilli powder or cayenne, and not red food colouring. You can only pay using cash or a debit card. Paying was efficient, as the place has at least two payment machines happening at the front counter. The restaurant has perhaps ten tables. The fish pakoras had all this raw batter inside the pakora that was possibly not cooked, crispy beef was overly sweet and soyed as well as was a black colour and tasted jerky like. Place is a hole in the wall type, so you know the food will be good. Love the way they served, apps than soup and than all the entrees with efficient timely manner between courses. I think just alone for that reason this place deserves an A+ keeping track of timing when place is fully packed it was great to see the service like that. It was great, my friend and I ordered way too much food! When ordering a plate, keep in mind that the dish comes with a plate of white rice too! Between two people, one dish is enough but if youre feeling hungry and adventurous, two plates max will fill you up and then some. Be prepared to take food home and have leftovers for a couple days. This place has the best hakka chilli dishes of all other hakka establishments in Mississauga. It still does not reach the level of legendary Spadina Garden but its chilli chicken measures above all the other places that do hakka cuisine in Mississauga. In my view, Hakka food is an embodiment of hakka people's diaspora, and its quality needs to be assessed by how potent and well-balanced the seasoning makes otherwise humdrum, easily available base meat/chicken/fish. This place achieves that without tilting too much towards Indian (pakora chickpea flavour) or Szechuan (garlic and chilli). This is why I don't like Hakka Ren and Hakka House as much. For the price, the food is generally consistent and in hearty quantity. If the food tastes too spicy, Hakka is not your cup of tea. Recommendation: chilli chicken (namesake, prefer dry), curry chicken, hot garlic fish. read more

Chilli Chicken House has been my go-to since just about 2012. They have a great menu. Their Szechuan chowmein is great if you love spice. The Tom Yum soup has become a favourite, with it's buttery shrimp pieces. The Thai fried rice is tasty yet not overly heavy (it has little pineapple pieces for accent!). Decent place for Hakka style Indian Chinese food. We came here for a Friday night dinner and although generally not a big fan of this type of cuisine, I was surprised the friendly and very attentive waiters & waitresses as well as the overall quality of the food. Definitely recommend you to give this place a try if you pass by, especially their Butter Chicken & Pakora Chicken dish. We ordered the Pakora Chicken, stir fried green beans, stir fried noodles, and the Butter Chicken. The Pakora Chicken was deep fried and very flavorful. The chicken was very tender and fried well as when you bit into each piece, juices oozed out. It was not 100% crispy but I recon that's due to the fact that it was fried in the delicious sauce, which more than makes up for the texture. The fried green beans were also surprisinly great, and this is from a hardcore meat-atarian. It was very simmilar to the Chinese dish "Dry Fried Four Season Bean" (干煸四季豆) and was very delicious, and was surprisingly the second dish to go as the spiciness was on point. The fried noodles were good carb, but lacked flavor but when paired with the green chilli sauce, it was a good carb dish. Saving the best for last, the Butter chicken was outrageiously good. It was not overly rich like a lot of the other butter chicken dishes, but it was indeed flavorful. I would come here again just for this dish and a nice bowl of rice. read more

Authentic Hakka food is made by Hakka Han people (Chinese people who migrated to other places, including India). Advice No. 2: If the owners/proprietors of a Hakka restaurant are Chinese, and they happen to have a slight/strong Indian accent, this is a good sign that the food will be delicious. Refer to Advice No. 1 to understand the relevance. Advice No. 3: If the owners/proprietors of a Hakka restaurant are Indian, this means that they're most likely trying to get in on the Hakka food scene, and what you're actually eating is Indian-Chinese fusion or their attempt at Hakka food. More than likely, it'll be crap. Refer to Advice No. 1 to understand the relevance. Advice No. 4: Have cash on hand. Many places will take debit cards, but most Asians prefer to deal with cash, so simplify your life, and theirs. Chilli Chicken House (CCH) is so legit that my mouth is watering right now thinking about the meals that I've had. It's been 24 hours since my last CCH experience, and already it seems too long. The fact that this place is now 1200+ miles (1900+ km for you Canucks) away is only adding to my depressed state of mind. Their lunch special is $5.75, and includes an entrée, rice (or fried rice/noodles for a little extra), and a spring roll. The spring roll is nothing special, but it goes well enough with everything else. I have now tried the Manchurian Chicken, Chili Chicken, Manchurian Fish, Szechuan Fish, Shrimp Pakora, and Fish Pakora. Everything. Is. Delicious. Obviously, it's not the healthiest fare, and I suppose if you want it to be slightly healthier, you could ask that the entrée be made dry instead of with sauce, but sauce is the magic yo. If there is one thing that you must absolutely have though, it's the Shrimp Pakora. They are amazeballs. No seriously, they're actually balls filled with amaze. Top it off with a little bit of that garlicky/gingery hot sauce they have on the table and it's just... ::pantomimes head exploding:: Service is amazing.
