If I could give this experience 6/5 stars, I absolutely would! I attended the Chillino Sessions at Mission trails San Diego this past weekend, and it was everything I hoped for and more. While I have indoor climbing experience, I wanted a safe and structured environment to transition to outdoor climbing and develop new skills--and this session delivered. The 15-minute hike up is definitely a challenge, but our guides made sure we took plenty of breaks. Our instructors, Fabi (the owner) and Kyle, were phenomenal. From the start, Fabi asked each of us what we wanted to learn and tailored the session accordingly. I was eager to learn how to set up an anchor, so he took a small group aside to teach us in detail, while Kyle worked with those ready to start climbing. Fabi's instruction was incredibly thorough, and safety was always the top priority--which I really appreciated. On top of anchor-building, I also learned how to rappel safely and execute a proper hand jam in a crack. Both Fabi and Kyle were patient, knowledgeable, and super encouraging. I felt completely safe the entire time, and they were more than happy to answer any questions we had. Now, I'm feeling that satisfying post-climb soreness, and I can't wait to come back! This experience was worth every penny for the skills, confidence, and safety knowledge I gained. Even with a two-hour drive from OC, I'll definitely be back when I get another free weekend. Tiowa was my guide for my first ever Mulit-pitch send. We decided on Angel's Fright. Can't say enough amazing things about him. He reached out a week in advance to get to know me, my climbing background, and my goals. He was very responsive to my questions leading up to send day. He spent considerably more time planning on the his end which resulted in a stressfree day of climbing. Tiowa definitely knows what he's doing based on the time he spent teaching me about the history of the crag, anchoring and belay station basics. He went above and beyond by asking for feedback at the end of the session which tells me he is always about improving his craft. Went on a great expedition with Fabi in Joshua tree national park. This was a moderate hike including an 70 meter repel. It was my very first repel so naturally I was pretty nervous. My wife and I had a blast and honestly had such a great experience doing a half day climb at Joshua Tree. Our guide, Tiowa aka "Ty" was such a great guide. He help my wife and I get out of our comfort zones when it came to climbing. Ty had nothing but encouraging words when we were stuck in a couple areas on the cliff face and helped the both of us through. Even with about 45mins left on our time, and we were too tried to climb some more, Ty went out of his way to take us to a place called "The Chasm of Death", and that was such an amazing experience as well. My wife and I highly recommend doing some rock climbing when in Joshua Tree to anyone who is hesitant on doing so, specially highly recommend Tiowa aka "Ty" for people who have less experience when it comes to climbing. Fabi and Ty were amazing! l wasn't sure what to expect on our two day guided trip at Red Rocks as this was my first time ever being guided. our group was a mixed bag of climbers, including my wife, my daughter and four dear friends who were all mostly gym climbers with very little outdoor experience. I've been climbing indoors and outdoors for about ten years. Right from the start these guys were so sweet and welcoming, treating us like long lost friends! After making sure we had all the necessary gear, lunch etc they talked to us about what we were looking for in our weekend. We all voted for an exciting, challenging time. That's exactly what we got! we started off with a hour long approach through the desert on a trail that started off easy and got pretty hard as we neared the crag. Both our guides were extremely good at encouraging the group and at the same time making sure everyone was safe and comfortable. We got to our climbing destination and in short order we had four ropes up and everyone was either climbing or belaying with the close attention and guidance of Ty and Fabi. As the day progressed everyone was climbing at or mostly above their usual grade, laughing and chatting happily due to our guides teaching skill and bombproof support. We all learned so much and had a really great experience! I was very impressed with their guiding and would totally hire them again! This was SO MUCH FUN!!! A friend of ours put together a trip to Joshua Tree for a climbing adventure for 7 of us. This would be my first time climbing outdoors, and only my 3rd time climbing, at all. My boyfriend and I would definitely be ranked as beginners. Upon our arrival, Fabi and Mike greeted us warmly in the parking lot Nd let us to the spot where everything was already set up and ready to go. They outfitted us with harnesses and shoes and made sure we were comfortable and properly fitted. They gave us a lesson in proper knot tying and quickly answered any questions we threw their way. Prior to climbing, they also made sure the belayer was properly trained, and able to handle the task of making sure their climber could climb up and that they could also lower them safely back to the ground. There were 7 of us, and 2 guides, and I felt like the attention was one on one. Whenever a question or concern would arise, we could easily ask either Fabi or Mike, and they were right there to help! They helped any way they could, and even took on the task of belaying us on occasion. They were quick to offer the climbers tips on handholds and where to put our feet to help us succeed in getting to the top. We also got a surprise lesson in rappelling which was terrifying, fun and unexpected! In summary, this was a fabulously planned and well put together adventure. I don't think there is anything they could do to improve their service! Also!!!! Very important!! So much fun!!! A great challenge and an awesome way to spend a Sunday morning. We met our instructor Jacob at 7am at Mission Gorge. The day involved learning to do an 8 knot and belay, and then a little warm up to get comfortable on the line. Once we were ready, we did three climbs of increasing difficulty. Me and my friend both had a little bit of experience with indoor climbing, but never outdoor. Jacob was awesome - very friendly, knowledgeable, encouraging, and letting us do things at our pace. My girlfriend and I had an unforgettable experience with our Chillino guide, Jakob. It was our first time top-roping outdoors, and my first time climbing whatsoever in California. We scheduled our private trip just over 48 hours in advance. Even with that short notice, the folks we spoke to on the phone we very professional and accommodating. I'm sure they'd appreciate at least a bit more notice if you can give it! Jakob brought along all of the equipment we personally needed - harnesses, roles, carabiners, anchoring tools, a tarp. As we walked to the base of the hike up to the climbing site in Mission Trails Regional Park, Jakob gauged our climbing experience and know-how, and then tailored the pace and difficulty of our nearly five-hour adventure to that baseline. Although meeting up at 7:30am was certainly very early, it helped in two ways - we got a prime spot at the base of at least three awesome routes, and that spot was in the shade until around noon. Once my girlfriend and I both showed that we could confidently and safely belay one another, Jakob found some awesome vantage points to take photos of us climbing. He said he's an amateur photographer, but his experience climbing in general and thinking about these routes combined to yield some awesome shots. We had a super positive experience that will serve as the first rung in our outdoor climbing adventures. He was on time, super nice, explained everything in an easy to understand way as this was my first experience rock climbing. We went to Mission Gorge (San Diego). I had NO experience rock-climbing and he did an excellent job explaining everything about the technics and also the history of rock climbing. Bree was great to work with and easy to schedule a group climb in mission gorge. Unfortunately Jake was our guide that day. He was very focused on safety which is great. But we spent about half our time learning to tie a proper knot rather than climbing. For a day of climbing, this was not what I was expecting. I thought maybe the teaching would not be part of our time but sure enough he was focused on the clock and it felt our trip was lacking in actual climbing time. I've been climbing for a while now, but my skill level has only increases a little throughout this time. I've climbed with Jakob from Chillino a few times now, and every time I feel my climbing ability level up while learning new valuable skills.
